Here's the Chapter 5. Hope you like it.
Chapter
5
Unknown
Friends or Known Strangers
Gunjan
was ready to take up her job here in Mumbai. The place which gave her the
spirit of enjoying life. The spirit of loving someone truly, madly, deeply.
Samrat.
She
has still not met him.
Dia
told her a few days back that he's gone to Thailand for some work-related issue
and won't be back before weekend. But no one knows where he lives or works. Strange
indeed.
She
hoped to meet her friend soon.
******
Going
to office was now a habit for Samrat Shergill. Sitting with the files, sipping
his coffee or listening to routine lectures by the panellists. All seemed the
same. On top of that, one has to see Shergill, Sr. for the whole day.
But
today seemed unusual. It felt as if there were a new freshness in the air.
Something
good is going to happen.' Thought Samrat and he returned back to his files.
******
"Gunjan
... Bhushan ..." read out the receptionist.
"Yes,
that's my name written over there. I was supposed to meet the MD, Shergill
Constructions. I had a meeting fixed at 10 am with him. May I know where he can
be found?"
"Okay.
Ummm ... Yes. Sir's is in his cabin. That's in the 20th floor. 2nd
room on the left hand. You'll find him there."
"Thank
you."
*******
S.
SHERGILL, MD
Gunjan
saw the name and proceeded to knock on the door.
"Come
in." A male voice came.
She
took a deep breath and pushed open the door.
He
sat quietly, brooding over a file when she entered into the room.
His
eyes went to the direction of the door and he saw her.
"Chashmish!"
he exclaimed.
Samrat's
POV
Chashmish.
Chashmish is back. She is back. But ... no, is it true? Am I dreaming? Again. Or
is she here for real? I can't believe my eyes. I mean, she is back. For real. I
can't believe this.
Gunjan's
POV
Samrat.
What is he doing here? Wasn't he away on an overseas tour, as Dia told last Friday?
Was she lying? But ... what is he doing here? Where's Mr. Shergill? Or is he S.
Shergill? No, it can't be. Am I dreaming? Again. I can't believe this.
Both
looked at each other. Both had several questions revolving inside their minds. Whose
answers were lying in each other's eyes.
His
chocolate brown and her hazel ones.
Time
seemed to have stopped then and there, as they were lost in each other. It felt
that they were the only two people in the world and no one else.
Suddenly,
a voice interrupted them.
"Samrat,
it seems like you've already met Miss. Bhushan." Said Rajeev with a smile.
"Why
does he have to come here?" muttered Samrat under his breath.
"I
didn't hear you, son." Rajeev said cheekily.
"Dad,
I said that I met her."
Gunjan
was clueless about what was going on. She waited for the father-son duo to end
their animated conversations.
"Hmmm
... Good. She's going to work for you. So, act accordingly. I hope at least she
won't disappoint you."
"I
had a really tough job to find you the new Head of Projects." He added with a
chuckle.
"Miss
Bhushan. You can go to Mr. Malhotra. He's waiting at the lounge. He will be your
guide about your task. Meanwhile, Samrat will join me in the meeting at 10:30.
Good luck to you."
"Thank
you, Sir," mumbled Gunjan.
"Samrat,
wish her goodluck. Won't you do that?"
"Yes.
Dad." He agreed half-heartedly.
"All
the best, Ch- ... umm ... I mean ..." Samrat's throat had gone dry.
"Gunjan
..." Rajeev happily prompted and went out.
"All
the best, Gunjan." Samrat wished her and walked out too before she could say
anything.
She
looked at his direction. She nodded and then mumbled a thank you.
'What
on earth was this? How is he related to the Shergills? I will have to ask him
about this.' She decided.
'I
know now that you're back. I will explain everything to you. Wish the things
were like the old times.' He hoped.
