Chapter 38

Josh sighs and follows Angad upstairs, soon enough their parents arrive and Kripa leaves with her parents. Angad goes to his room and lies in bed and begins to dream about his wedding which is only a few days away

Kripa wakes up, she glances at the clock and sees its 7AM, she groans and gets out of bed and looks at the calendar, it was day she had been waiting for, her wedding day, her wedding with the man she loved, Angad Khanna. Kripa smiles and heads to the bathroom for a shower. She comes out in her bathrobe and sits on her bed when Gayatri comes to her room and sits by her

G - good morning

K - mmm morning mom

G - you ready for today?

K - yeah

G - how you feeling?

K - excited, nervous....

G - well thats normal, I'm sure everything will be fine

Kripa smiles and hugs Gayatri

K - I sure hope so mum

Gayatri lets go of Kripa and touches her head

G - ok the hairdresser will be here at 9AM along with the manicurist

K - thanks mum

Kripa gives her a light kiss and Gayatri leaves, meanwhile in the Khanna House Angad is in the shower while Naina and her daughter in laws are making their husbands run around for them while Lakshya and Josh sit around watching the fun, Angad gets out of the shower and puts on a t shirt and jogging bottoms and heads downstairs, he sees Naina and his sister in laws running here and there and sees Lakshya and Josh sitting on the sofa, he goes and sits by them

A - hey guys

L - hey bro, ready for today?

A - yeah can't wait

J - Lakshya will be next

L - its bhaiya's wedding today, we don't need to talk about me

A - speaking of which, Josh no pranks today, of any sort

J - but dude...

Angad puts his hand on Josh's leg

A - none what so ever

J - fine

A - good now, both of you have to make sure things are going perfectly at the hall

L - but...

A - no buts, go get some proper clothes on and go

Lakshya and Josh frown and listen to Angad. They get changed and leave to the hall, 1 hour later, Angad is in jeans and a shirt getting his hair done when his phone rings, its the manager of the hall Mr Khan

A - yes Mr Khan everything ok?

Mr K - I think you should come to the hall and see for yourself

Angad looks worried and excuses himself from the barbers and heads to the hall, he goes inside to see the place a mess, the tables are arranged in such a way that a person can't get from one end to another, the balloons have been let loose and are all by the ceiling, the mandap still hasn't been set up and amongst the mess Lakshya and Josh are sitting playing cards. Angad walks in angrily and goes to the two guys

A - what the heck is going on here?

L - bhai......we were....erm...Josh

J - oh we came here....and we....

A - ruined the place? guys how am I meant to get married here?

L - I don't know...maybe we can sort something

A - go home, both of you....I'll sort this place up, and don't mess anything at home

Lakshya and Josh shrug their shoulders and head out, Angad shakes his head and calls out the helpers to help him rearrange the place. 2 hours later, the place is looking like it should be, Angad feels happy with himself, he glances at his watch and sees the time, he rushes out to go home and get ready, he sees Lakshya and Josh in his room

A - can you believe I have to do all the work on my wedding day?

L - well it is your wedding day after all

A - shut up, where are my clothes?

L - Josh has them....he said he was going to make some adjustments to them

A - what! Where is he?

L - downstairs

Angad rushes downstairs to find Josh ready and waiting to cut Angad's shervani, Angad runs and grabs it off him

A - are you insane?

J - no...I wanted to add some style to your clothes

A - there's no need for that.....man you're crazy.....and I thought I said no pranks

J - that wasn't a prank, can you blame me for wanting my cousin to look cool in his shervani?

A - hmm what were you going to do to it?

J - just put some cuts in there.....like my t shirt

Angad looks at Josh's t shirt and laughs

A - your t shirt looks as if its been clawed by a tiger....there's no need to ruin my clothes....just get changed, we're going to have to leave soon

Angad shakes his head and runs upstairs to get changed. Once he's wearing his gold shervani, he calls Naina to help him tie his turban, after she's done she looks at him through the mirror

N - you look handsome

A - thanks mum

Angad gives her a kiss on her cheek, Naina goes to leave the room

A - mum

N - yeah?

A - since when do I not look handsome?

Naina glares at him and he quickly leaves the room and heads downstairs. He sees Sujal and Kavya in their black shervanis and Kashish and Anjali in their black sarees

A - are you guys going to a funeral?

S - no why?

A - you're all wearing black.....it looks so dull...can't you add any colour to your selves

An - it took us a long time to get ready, we're not getting changed now

A - fine whatever, lets leave, where's Lakshya?

Lakshya stands at the top of the stairs in his white shervani, he comes down and stands by Angad

A - everyone ready? lets go

The Khannas leave for the hall, when they get there Angad sits in the mandap waiting for Kripa. Slowly the guests arrive and so does Kripa. Angad looks at her and is mesmirised by her beauty. Kripa is wearing a matching gold lengha to Angad's shervani. Her face is slightly covered by the dupatta to Angad's loss as he wants to see Kripa's face. Kripa sits next to Angad and both follow the pundit's words in the rituals for the marriage. Soon it is time for them to exchange the garland of flowers, Angad first puts the garland on Kripa and then Kripa puts it on him, the pundit then tells them its time for the pheras. Surya ties Kripa's dupatta to the scarf around Angad's neck and then both stand up and begin the pheras, once the pheras are complete Angad puts the mangal sutar around Kripa's neck and then fills her forehead with sindoor. Everyone throws flower petals on them, once the marriage is over Angad and Kripa take blessings from their elders and hug the youngsters. Naina takes Angad and Kripa to the centre table where both sit down and feed each other some food. Dilip stands with his other sons

D - boys, aren't you going to have some fun on your brother's wedding?

L - dad, I never thought you would ask

Ka - yeah, I have an idea

Kavya whispers to Sujal, Sujal smiles and goes to the stage

S - everyone can I have your attention, thank you, firstly I want to congratulate my brother and his new wife on their new journey in life

Everyone claps

S - and now I want to dedicate this song, to Angad and Kripa, if you guys could come to the dancefloor

Angad smiles and takes Kripa's hand into his and leads her to the dancefloor, the lights go out and a spot light shines on them. Kripa places her hands around Angad's neck while he places his on her waist, Sujal smiles seeing them together and begins to sing Kehna Hai from Dil Vil Pyaar Vyar as Angad and Kripa sway to the music

The Khanna boys watch as their brother gets lost in Kripa's eyes, they all recollect how childish Angad used to be at one point and how since he met Kripa his life changed forever, each wish for both to stay happy and remain together

Angad and Kripa look into each others eyes and let their eyes promise each other to be there for each other for the rest of their lives

Everyone claps as Sujal takes a small bow, Angad unwillingly parts from Kripa and goes to Sujal and gives him a hug. He is about to go sit back down when he hears Lakshya

L - wait bhai, the fun isn't over yet, I would also like to give my best wishes to bhai and my new bhabhi

J - both of us would like to present something for our dear brother Angad and his wife Kripa

Angad looks at them then looks at Kripa

A - this can't be good

Lakshya and Josh stand in the middle of the stage, the lights go off and a projector comes on, Angad senses what is about to happen and buries his head on Kripa's shoulder

L - as we've only known Kripa for a year, we didn't have any pictures of her when she was younger, but thanks to Gayatri aunty......we do now

Angad's head jerks up and a grin forms on his lips, Kripa looks at him and shakes her head

K - make them stop

A - no way....I want to see the pictures

The slideshow starts and pictures of Angad when he was younger are shown and then pictures of Kripa. Finally pictures of Angad and Kripa together are shown. Josh turns the projector off

J - and now this lovely song for them both

The music plays and Lakshya and Josh sing and dance to Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai from Dil Vil Pyaar Vyar

The song ends as Naina pulls both Lakshya's and Josh's ears, Angad and everyone else laugh. The farewell ceremony takes place from the hall and the Khanna's head back home.
