Chapter 5 – You Win Some ; You Loose Some

Khushi’s POV

I smiled to myself as I walked up the stairs to my little room.

The evening had been good fun.

More than what I had anticipated actually.

He was such a cool guy.

I shrugged my shoulders as I sat on the bed, it was so sad that the world didn’t look at him for he was.

People looked at him,as they wanted to look at him based on their vey own perceptions and as long as that fit the glamourous celebrity template, they didn’t want to put too much effort into reading beyond.

I picked up my tank top and matching shorts night suit change and walked to my bath, for  refreshing shower.

Fifteen minute later, as I step out, feeling all refreshed and changed for the night for a goods night sleep , I walked to the little fridge in my studios kitchennete and filled my sipper with some iced water.

I lived on cold water.

We were still in the middle of Feburary, it was still summer for us, and it would be till the end of the month and then autumn would set in as March began, and winter would only start by June, followed by spring , and then summer again once December came.

Weather for us, was totally different from what it was back in the Asian subcontinent India, and it was still winter there in the north of India.

Oh wait? Did they schedule all the touring and the tournaments and the matches, keeping in mind the weather of different countries?

I made a mental note to ask Arnav about this.

Incase that was what it was ; it was a good strategy.

I sat in bed and right then , I remembered I still had to work on a little report that I had to present to my boss.

I had planned on doing it after dinner, but then I was having so much fun around Arnav that id thought off pushing it for later.

Ok, all I needed was 30 minutes.

It was just midnight.

Id get this done by 1230am and then just crash to sleep.

I picked up my laptop, and started to  work on it.

30 Minutes later

I closed my laptop and put it aside and then picked my phone and put my alarm for 730am in the morning and right then my phone beeped.

It was a whatsapp message from Arnav.

I smiled to myself as opened the chat box.

His message read : Thank you for a wonderful evening Khushi.I had such a good time with you that im feeling more relaxed than ever.

I quickly replied : oh really are you now hoodie guy.thats good.Thank you much for your time, you are a cool company, it was a good evening.

My phone beeped in a second.

He was online.

Him : Why are you still awake?Dont you have work tomorrow?

I smiled as I wrote :Oh that, its because I still had to finish on a report that I have to hand in to my boss tomorrow at work.Just finished it.

I got a quick reply.

Him : Im sorry khushi, I shouldn’t have kept you longer.

I quickly replied : don’t worry about it.like I said you are such a cool company, I was enjoying myself.i don’t usually sleep before 1230am anyway.

Him : and when do you wake up?

Me : 730am..seven hours of sleep is more than enough for this uber girl , hoodie guy.on that note, why aren’t you asleep yet?dont you have like a long long day tomorrow, the game only starts by 630pm

Him : I was just about to sleep, and I thought to message you a thanks before that.

I quickly wrote : No need to thank me please!Good night HG.

Him : HG?

I grinned as I wrote : Short for Hoodie Guy ofcourse.

Him : You crack me up , khushi. Good night to you too.

I exited whtsapp, and I put the phone on the side desk on silent and then snuggled into my cotton duvet,and closed my eyes, and there was a smile on my lips.

I couldn’t believe he wanted to be friends with me.

I felt myself yawn as sleep strted to weigh down my eyes.

 It had been a long but an interesting day.

Arnav’s POV

It was 9am, and I finished breakfast along with the rest of the team , as I asked Cap, who was sipping his tea – “ are you feeling any better now??”

He grinned – “ I am…thanks ASR..”,and  everyone else was busy talking and he folded his arms on the table and leaned in close to me and he asked, interested – “ where have you been disappearing for the last three nights??”

I gave him a smile – “ no where Cap..just unwinding by myself..”

Cap grinned – “ well good, we all need it once in a while..I mean that’s good for us, I need you to be relaxed before the game..”

And I asked on reflex – “ hows lil zara??”

Zara was Cap’s little baby girl, she was going to turn 2 soon.

He smiled – “ shes great..cant wait to be back home in time for her bday..”

I nodded – “ sure..”

Family was allowed on tours ofcourse, but then mostly everyone joined in between for bits and pieces and then returned back home.

This was a part of our lives, and we all had come to terms with it, but then again it was obvious to miss home once in a while.

Right then my phone buzzed and it was a video call from my sister Anjali, who was two years younger to me, and I excused myself smiling at Cap and walked to a corner.Delhi was 3 hours 30 minutes ahead of SA, so it was 30 minutes past noon back at home and I quickly answered and saw my sister and my fathers fill into the screen and she spoke , her voice filled with happiness – “ Bhai, tell dad to step out with me for lunch, please, hes always overworking himself..”

I saw my father smile at my sister in the screen and he gave me a smile – “ Arnav, my son..how are you this morning??dont listen to your sister, please, she wants me to step out of office right in the middle of the day..”

I laughed as I heard my sister glare at my father – “ dad, you are hopeless, such a workaholic, bhai, cmon tell him to unwind a little..”

I shook my head grinning at the two of them – “ dad, relax a little if Anjali is inisiting, im sure stepping out for one hour wont make a difference…”

Dad smiled at me – “ it will push back my entire schedule for the day and you know I do not like to make people wait.”

I smiled to myself.My father was a very disciplined man and totally committed to his timings.

I winked – “ Anjali, why don’t you ask Macy aunty to schedule a lunch appointment into dads schedule?”

Macy aunty was dads assistant.

Anjali winked back at me rolling her eyes – “ yes I guess that’s what ill have to do now, I need to fix an appointment with my very own dad for lunch..”

Dad grinned – “oh cmon you two…”

Anjali – “ acha forget di, you tell me bhai are you all set for the game??”

I nodded – “yes..”

Dad – “so proud of you my son, and your game..it was a good match the other day..”

I smiled – “ thanks dad..”

Dad – “relax your self for sure before the game this evening..”

I nodded and Anjali grinned – “you know how mom and dad always stay glued to the screen when the game is on…mom doesn’t even take a loo break when you are batting…”

I grinned – “ god still, it must have been a torture for her then last match because I batted through the innings..”

We all laughed at that and I spoke on reflex – “ miss you guys, its been a long tour..”

Anjali grinned – “ miss you too bhai..”

Dad – “ waiting for you to come home, son..and don’t forget to call your mum before the match..”

I grinned – “ofcourse..” and i chatted a little with the two of them and then hung up a while later, and then I started to walk back to the table and almost everyone was starting to disperse when the Cap asked – “ ASR, im going for a swim..come on..”

I nodded – “ yup, a swim first and ill hit the gym post that..”

Ravi and Shiv (he opened the innings with me)and Kunal (was our ace spinner)walked up to me and Cap as they spoke – “ cmon boys, lets go..”

I grinned as I joined the rest of the boys.

….

Noon

Id just finished with the shower after the gym and I lied down on the L shaped sofa and I picked up my phone as I finally thought of messaging her.

I had wanted to send her a text in the morning too.

But then I had refrained, because I knew she had a superbusy start to her day.

I quickly wrote : Good afternoon Khushi.I hope you are having a good day.

I waited for my phone to beep, and it did 2 minutes later.

Khushi : Hii HG, yes im having a good day, stepping out for my lunch break.What about you?? I hope you are relaxing yourself before the game.

I grinned as I read that : Yes Khushi, totally relaxing, went for a swim with the team and then hit the gym..just got back to my room, and will be catching up with boys for lunch in a while too.Am I disturbing you?

My phone beeped immediately.

She was online.

Khushi : no ya its lunch break I have 30 minutes break.thats great that you are having a relaxed morning.

I raked my brains on what to say next.

Ok, so im not really great when it comes to chatting online and stuff,except for my family group , i never had the time or patience for it, I would usually catch up with all my buddies back home on a conference call or a video call, and now that I thought of it, I have never really had online conversations with any girl, because the situation or a reason to do so never came along and never in the past have I really wanted to stay connected, because id never met anyone like her, anyway.

Khushi was different.

She was amazing.

 I totally wanted to stay connected to khushi, and given the circumstances , I knew id have to take a lot of help of whtsapp for the same.

And I was still in the thought of what to write next when my phone beeped.

Khushi : ok HG, just in case I don’t get the time later in the evening, I want to wish you all the best for both the toss and the game.and I gotta rush now, looks like ill just have to cut shot my break, some immediate work just came up!

Oh No.

She had to go already.

I quickly typed : thanks khushi, and I will see you later tonight though?? After the game??

My phone beeped immediately : Sure HG.all the best to you once again.

I grinned as I wrote : thanks khushi.

And right as I was about to put the phone away it beeped again.

Khushi : Don’t be tensed about the captaining.sometimes in between all that focus on the result, we often forget to enjoy the ride while it lasts. Just be true to your game HG and enjoy yourself out there,for you will be doing what you love to do.

Gosh.

This girl

How did she do that.

How was she able to have this calming affect on me with her words?

There was surely something super special about her.

And the fact that she was clueless about it herself, made me just smile to myself.

 I was looking forward to the rest of the day in everyway.

625 PM

I finish padding up and picked up my helmet and my bat and rotated it in my hand and Shiv, my opening partner grinned at me and he spoke – “ lets fire some shots then..glad we won the toss..”

I had won the toss and it was a team decision before hand that if we did win it , we were going to bat first and look at putting up a big total.I grinned back at him – “cmon then, it’s a good pitch..”

Cap grinned at me, as he patted my shoulder and gave me a wink – “ im going to enjoy my view from the bench today..”

I smiled at him – “hoping to entertain you cap..”

He grinned – “ im sure you will…”

And me and shiv finally stepped out the locker room and the minute we set foot on the stadium, the crowd went beserk and the hooting and cheering began and I looked at Shiv as we scanned the crowd and walked towards the pitch.

Fans had come out great numbers for both sides and it was amazing to see the enthusiasm and the energy and the spirit ; all for the love of the game.

Khushi was right, amongst all the worry from the pressure of winning when I captained, I often forgot to enjoy that thrill of the game, in those matches.

But I wouldn’t drown myself in the worry of the result today.

 I was totally going to enjoy the ride while it lasted.

 I took a deep breathe and positioned myself to face the first ball of the innings, and let that crazy adrenaline rush of it all,bring a smile on my face and I kept my eyes on the ball, as I smashed it through the fielders for a four.

I heard the crowd go beserk and the commentary went on – ASR smashes the first ball for a four.What a shot that was..!

I grin as Shiv walks to the middle of the pitch and I bang my fist into his as he grins – “that was a beauty my friend..”

I winked at him and made my way back to my position and the game resumed.

Khushi’s POV

9.20PM

I waited for my pick up outside this Italian restaurant, and heard the voice ring through the radio – looks like our home boys might just win this one, it was a high scoring game again 189-4,by India, but we still have 6 balls to go and  we only need 7 runs, 7 runs for a win and 6 for the game to go into a superover.

A song started to flow through next and I increased the volume as I enjoyed the tune.

It had been a good innings for India, but things could probably go either way right now.

I lowered the volume as middle aged couple got into my car and I smiled at them,as I started the ride and right then I heard the woman say – “cmon now, switch on the live stream..i cannot believe im missing the last over..”

I spotted The man grin at his partner through the review mirror as he spoke – “ im telling you Nina, its our game today…”

The lady frowned at him – “ oh whatever it isn’t over until the last ball, im telling you itll go into the superover..and the handsome ASR is going to smash it through again..98 runs out of 189 are his today..”

The man – “ yes yes,its been a thrilling innings by India today, but that’s what it is right at the end of the day, a game, and if SA wins today it will make the third and final match more interesting..and watch it woman, ASR is almost your sons age..”

I almost laughed out loud at that, as I heard her say – “ like you say, almost..i cant believe you are saying that, hes like a sport hero,everyone loves him..”, and she paused as she asked me – “ hi..you don’t mind the noise now do you??”

I gave her a small smile – “ don’t worry about it..”

God, people really loved this game.

I observed the couple, the lady was Indian and the man was South African, probably.

I smiled to myself and returned my attention to the road, but I could hear the live commentary as it went on, and I stopped at the red light and noticed the couple glued to the screen as the woman spoke folding her hands – “ god no no, only 2 runs are now needed off 1 ball..out ..out..out.or a one and we get a superover.”

The man – “ no…smash it for a four..win it..”,and I fought my laugh as I saw the woman literally hold on to her husband as the commentators voice said – “ its all down to the last ball of the innings…everyone is at the edge of the seats, still go either way…I tell you look at the thrill on the fans faces..this is why we come down to watch a game…it’s a good day for cricket, my friends..what a game..what a game It has been…hold your breath and it’s the last ball..”

Right then the signal went green and I resumed driving and heard the woman groan as the man picked up his hands in hurray – “yesss…it’s a 2…we win…” and she folded her arms across herself in disappointment as she scowled – “ I cant believe we lost by a run…one run..”

Right then the commentators voice filled in through again – “ South Africa win by a run.And what a spectacular treat has it been for the fans, and look at that - what a great gesture of sportsmanship by the Indian vice captain as he immediately steps forward and congratulates the batsmen for their win, patting them on their backs,it was a good game of cricket at the end of the day.

And the other commentators voice went on – “and not to forget, the excellent innings by the Indian Vice Captain too, ASR our man.. 98 runs off the toal 189..he stepped into his Cap’s shoes to lead the side today, didn’t win the match but definetly won all our hearts with the bat and that last gesture..”

I smiled to myself as I heard that last bit.

Rahul always told me that both ASR and the Cap specially always demonstrated a great spirit of sportsmanship,as they were always super gracious in defeat.

And right then the woman told her partner – “increase the volume, it’s the post match presentation…its ASR..”

And I assumed they had probably called him for a interview as I heard the commentators voice asked – “ im sure you would have liked a win ASR.but tough luck, today?”

Arnav’s voice filled through the car – “ yes, but it was a good game, an excellent game of cricket, and we all thouroughly enjoyed ourselves on the pitch,and id like to congratulate the boys, it was a brilliant contribution from every single player today and ofcourse also congratulations to the SA team for that brilliant last three overs..its a world class side,and that was a nail biting win..its just how it is, you win some, you loose some…”

The commentataor – “ and congratulations on that excellent innings 5 fours and 4 sixes..it was  a treat…thank you ASR..”

I heard his voice – “ thanks you so much…”

And the woman took the phone from her partners hand and closed the app and the man said – “ hey, hey..not fair…I wanted to watch the rest..”

She rolled her eyes and grumbled – “ whts too watch now..i stayed tuned in only to listen to him or else why would I..we lost”

I smiled of myself.

Arnav had to so know about this.

I would tell him later on.

I pulled right in the lane, and reached the destination and the couple got off, and I immediately got another notification for pick up from the stadium this time around.

Ofcourse the match had just finished.

It was going to get busy for us now.

Arnav’s POV

10.45 PM

I stepped out of my shower and I started to dress up in my jeans and usual hoodie.But today I wore a navy blue one instead of the usual black one.

It had been a thrilling game, right to the last ball,and even though we didn’t win, the locker room was still buzzing with laughter and positivity because the team played so well, in all fields, batting, bowling and fielding.

But a loss by just one run, is always a little painful.

Its like you came close and still didn’t cross the line.

Anyways, because I now wanted to see her more than ever. I quickly picked up my phone as i messaged her.

Me : Hey, can you pick me up in 15 minutes, ill walk a little ahead to the end of the road.

My phone beeped immediately : Sure, I just did another pick up.Ill just punch this to be the last one and log out post that and pick you up after.

I replied : kool, let me know when you are about to reach.ill be there.

I got a quick reply : Sure.

…

20 Minutes Later

I pulled on the hoodie to cover half my face as I walked towards Khushi’s uber and I recognised the car number and I immediately got to the front seat door and hopped in and just as I had , I turn to look at her and I sink in the sight of her smiling face and I heard her say – “ uber girl at your service hoodie guy…”

I liked the way she could make me smile.

I chuckled at that – “ hii khushiii….”,and  she started to drive and she spoke looking at me side ways for a split second giving me a little wink – “ oh look at that, a different colour hoodie for our hoodie guy…I thought you only have many pieces of just black..”

I chuckled at that again – “ khushi I have a lot of hooodies, didn’t I tell you..i do this very often..”,and she gave me a smile and she picked up a thermus from the cup holder behind the gear box as she handed it to me and I asked on reflex – “ whats this??”

“Coffeee..just the way you like it too…I always carry some for myself when im my uber schedule, I got some extra today..be careful while you sip it..itll still be hot…itll help you..because I can sense that you are being to hard on yourself in your head again..”

What the?

Did she just read through my unsaid.

How did she even figure that out?

I hadn’t even mentioned it yet.

I sipped on it silently and looked out the window and she spoke, giving me a side smile – “ its only natural to feel so..it was such a close call…”

Ok, now that caught my interest, and I asked on reflex – “ you know??”

I know she doesn’t watch or keep a tap on Cricbuzz.

And after she told me why she didn’t and couldn’t, I didn’t have it in my heart to talk to her about it, or ask her to do so.

She gave me a huge grin – “ trust me, once we reach the viewpoint, im going to tell you such crazy stories that I have witnessed in that backseat of the car..you will probably laugh until it aches..”

That intrigued me as I asked – “ really?? What happened..”

She grinned – “im not telling you now…wait..wait..”

Ok, so now I really wanted to know and I asked excited – “ tell me cmon…”

She faked a scowl dramatically at me as she said – “ how unfair..you want to laugh all by your self hoodie guy..how can I join you if I have to focus on the road..”

God,she was adorable.

I couldn’t help but smile,and I sipped the coffee.

Khushi’s company and my favourite flavour of caffeine was exactly what I needed.

20 minutes later

We reached the viewpoint, which was now completely deserted too, we were the only ones here.

I saw khushi sprint out her seat and I walked out and she walked to the boot and I saw her take out her laptop bag and another big plastic bag and I offered to take it from her but she held onto it all by herself and shut the boot as she spoke – “ give those arms a rest no..”,and I chuckled at that as she punched my biceps with her other free hand by putting it in a little fist and gave me a brilliant grin and I took my hoodie off – “ 98 fantastic runs off those arms…someone was on a roll tonight…”

I laughed as I walked with her to the bench at that and just as we settled on the bench under this lamp post and sat side by side she placed the stuff in front of our legs below and turned to face me as she now asked softly – “ you ok???”

God.

Why did her voice have to have this affect on me.

I gave her a nod as I spoke – “ yes, I mean it was a fantastic game right…”and I paused , and because I knew I could say this out loud to her I spoke softly – “maybe if I could have made another run…or if I hadn’t let that last ball slip trough my arms length , it might just would have been a tie and then superover..”

She nodded, deep in thought – “ yes yes, if you would have no…then toh surely that uncle would have gone crazy with jealousy because his wife would have swooned and jumped in glee , driving him crazy in the process..”

I looked at her confused – “ huh?? What??

Her eyes twinkled as she grinned at me – “ so you wont believe what happened…this middle aged uncle and aunty…I picked them up at around 920..they were watching the live stream,she was an Indian, he a south African…now imagine the scene..it was the last over..and she called you handsome so many times that her partner had to remind her that you were like her son..god..Arnav..i tell you..how I controlled my laugh…it was such an amusing scene..and then after the last ball, you should have seen the way she cowled at her husband and then snatched th eohone from his hand to watch your post match interview..and the minute yours was done, she shut it all out, and didn’t let the uncle see anything..god…it was so so funny….now that I look back at it..oh my god…”,and she burst into laughter and started explaining the scene to me again by enacting the mans and the womans gestures in front of me.

God it totally cracked me up and I laughed with her.

We laughed like crazy.

And then she spoke holding onto her stomach in between her squeals of laughter– “you wait you have to listen to this one…another pick up I made..two young boys and a girl..all Indian..all like your hardcore fans..and they went on and on about how brilliant a game it was and now how they were going to come back for the third and final one and then the girl started swooning over you, saying how hot you were and one of boys was her boyfriend I presume he literally said – only I f I didn’t love cricket more than I love you,I would have cursed ASR right now…oh my bloody god..it was so so funny…you should have seen the girls reaction, she didn’t know how to react to that…”, and she started to enact it all again and I burst into squeals of laughter again with her.

And minutes later she paused as she asked softly – “ you feel any better now…I have more stories though???but my acting sucks..im sure its that you are laughing at…”

And I realised that she had done all of this out to make me feel better and she had no idea how good that made me feel in the moment.

I smiled at her – “ thank you khushi…”

She smiled at me as she asked – “ you enjoyed yourself right??”

I nodded honestly and smiled at her – “ I did…I really did, it was a good game…”

She grinned  - “ you enjoyed the ride while it lasted…then that’s what matters no…like you said in the post match interview, we are a world class side too hoodie guy, you win some, you loose some..”

I grinned back – “ you heard??”

She nodded – “ ofcourse, didn’t I tell you, I was driving, and they were so passionate about it…”,and she paused as she asked softly – “ you are so gracious in defeat and that makes you an excellent sportsperson, then why cant you be equally gracious to yourself about it…you can doubt your head ask yourself if you could have made better strategy decisions in the game etc etc…but the list is never ending, don’t belittle yourself with the doubt…that wont let you learn from it and that would be totally unfair to your talent and the game…”

I looked up at her again speechless and my eyes locked with hers and I asked – “ how??”

She looked at me – “ huh??”

“Just how do you know that this is what I need to hear??”

She gave me a warm smile as she asked – “ are you hungry??”

“not really khushi..you have something for us to eat now??”

She nodded as the picke dup the other bag – “ofcourse what do you think is in this..”,and she immediately got off the bench and took out a little sheet from the bag and placed in under the lamppost and then she picked out two bottles and she threw the gaterode at me and I caught it in time as she spoke – “ good catch hoodie guy..”

I grinned as she said – “ isn’t that what you all drink in the break??thats for you and a good old coke for me…”

I just sat there and looked at her amused as she took out a protein bar and flung it at me and I caught it again and she winked at me – “I hate the taste off it but for you itll work no…I guess that’s like a healthy chocolate right?”

I opened it grinning like an idiot and bit into it and finally took out a bag of packted popcorn as she picked up her laptop and opened it and she gestured me to come sit next to her and I did and she spoke – “ cmon now, lets binge watch atleast two episodes of the crown..i downloaded it already..but I didn’t watch it yet…”

I couldn’t help but grin as I asked – “ khushi are we having like a late night picnic under this lamppost at this table mountain viewpoint??”

She looked up at me as she asked – “ it isn’t ok??”

I grinned at her as I spoke – “ are you crazy..it is more than ok…”,and I settled in next to her and she gave me a smile and resumed her attention on the screen.

I stole a glance at the side of her face again, god she looked gorgeous under the lamppost light.it made her face glow…she was just dressed in a jeans and a simple collard white tee and her hair were tied up in a high bun.

There was something so beautiful about this simple girl in front of me that it made my heart glow.

And with great effort, I shifted my gaze from the side of her face to the screen in front of me, as she ate from the popcorn packet and offered it, in front of me, and I dug in too, totally loving this late night picnic with her under this lamppost and binging on Netflix.

90 Minutes later

I saw her finally shut her laptop as she spoke – “ ok hoodie guy..its almost 130 am now…lets get going…its getting really late now ..”

I immediately realised that she had stretched beyond the time again because of me and I spoke softly – “ im sorry khushi, its still weekday tomorrow..and you have to get up at 730…I didn’t realise…”

She started to put the trash of the empty wrappers of popcorn, coke, my Gatorade, and the veg sandwich that we had both shared in between and she gave me a smile – “ again sorry , are you crazy? Didn’t I tell you you are cool company..”

I smiled at that as I helped her pick up the sheet and I spoke softly – “ I leave Sunday morning…and I want to catch up with you tomorrow too..and then also after the last game on Saturday night…”

Her hands paused at that as she gave me a quick nod, and then the smile was back on her face as she asked – “ oh yes ofcourse…we can…the tour ends no on Saturday??”

I nodded – “ yes…its been a long one..”

And I watched her pick up the stuff and this time around I helped her carry her laptop bag and we walked to the car and she asked softly – “ you must be excited to go home after all this while na??

I nodded and she smiled – “ your family must be so excited..”

“yes they are…”

And she asked as she stuffed the things into the boot – “so any more tournaments lined up after this??”

I helped her and then shut the boot of the car and my hands brushed over hers over the boot and I swear to god I felt myself shiver and I spoke, disappointed that she immediately pulled her hand away – “sri lanka is touring india shortly after a ten day break and once that finishes we start with the IPL…”

She grinned at that and she rolled her eyes – “ god ofcourse, itll already be that time to the year…IPL…you have no idea..its a big craze here..like big on….anyways chalo lets go now..”,and she started to walk to the driving seat and I held her hand and she turned to look at me and I asked – “ can I get a hug Khushi??”

She gave me a confused look but then she smiled and shrugged her shoulders – “ sure…why not..”,and she gave me me a side hug , but I pulled her in for a close hug full upfront as I whispered holding her – “ thank you for tonight khushi…you have no idea how good you make me feel…”

She stayed there for a couple of minutes in silence and then she pulled apart and her eyes locked with mine as she asked with a grin – “ you wont have a problem no? if I don’t tell you where im going to take you tomorrow night”

I chuckled – “ no problem totally…I leave it up to you…only if you promise me that we will take the bus again…”

She laughed at that as she spoke – “sure..we can do that..you have those tourist brochures with you right??”

I nodded and she grinned – “get them with you..will come handy tomorrow too..”

I smiled at her and she then pushed my shoulders from behind and nudged me to the front seat side and she opened the door for me as she spoke – “now let me take you back, hoodie guy..its been a exhausting day for you…and you are really fit ya, you sure don’t look exhausted for someone whose played a physically draining innings..”

I smiled at that – “that’s because im not exhausted khushi..all the exhaustion washed away the minute I saw you…”,and my eyes locked with hers at that last bit and she gave me a smile, and gestured me to get in.

I got in and she closed the door behind me and I watched her get in behind the driving wheel seconds later, and she started to drive, and I put on my playlist and the music flowed through the car and as a comfortable silence followed, and I stole another glance at her, I realised that I was going to stay connected to her even after I left here for sure.

I couldn’t afford to loose the connection that I was starting to feel here.
