Part 36

Niki entering Taani's room.

Taani: Ab tum apne bhai ki side leke kyu aayi ho? Iss sab se sach nahi badlega.

Niki: Taani, ek baar bas ek baar apne aapko puch ke dekho ki kya Rey kabhi aisa kar sakta hai?

Taani: Mujhe bhi aaj tak yahi lagta tha ki vo kabhi aisa nahi kar sakte but I was proved wrong.

Niki: Shut up Taani! Come in your senses before it's too late.

Taani: I am in my senses now. Abhi tak mein kisi jhoothi duniya mein thi. Now I'm not.

Niki: You are unbelievable! Agar Yansh aaj bhi tumse pyaar nahi kar raha hota na toh pata nahi mein kya karti tumhara.

Taani: Tumhe pata bhi hai ki tumhare isso called bhai ne mere saath kiya kya hai?

Niki: Usne mujhe sab bataya. Now I understood why he is so quiet and angry. Tum sab sach janane ke baad bhi usse blame kar rahi ho so ab vo aur kya karega? Agar vo letter chod ke nahi jata aur tum aisa behave karti toh mein samajhti but now I really feel bad for you Taani. Tum itni andhi ho gayi ki tumne kuch aisa kho diya jo tumhe kabhi wapas nahi milne wala.

Saying this Niki stormed out of the room.

Taani (shouting): Tum sab jaan ke anjaan ban rahi ho just because vo tumhara bhai hai. Aur dobara mat aana mere paas apne bhai ki side leke. I've come to know his real side and don't you dare pity me.

This is heard by the gang and they stand there confused. Sharon catches hold of Niki and asks her what the problem is.

Niki: Sorry di but mein kisiko kuch nahi bata sakti.

Shivam: Niki please agar tum sach jaanti ho toh hume batao, hum sab milke isse sort out karenge.

Niki: (after a long pause) Mujhe Yansh ke paas jana hai.

Saying so she leaves. Swayam goes into Taani's room to check on her and finds her crying her eyes out. He instantly pulls her into a bear hug.

Swayam: Taani tum rona band karo. Mein Rey se baat karta hoon. Sab theek ho jayega.

Taani: Aap Rey se iss bare mein kuch baat nahi karenge. Yeh mere saath kabhi na kabhi toh hone hi wala tha, so mein khush hoon ki mujhe unki sachayi ka pata abhi hi chal gaya.

Swayam: Kaisi sachayi?

Taani: Yeh ki Rey ne kabhi mujhse pyaar hi nahi kiya.

Swayam: What rubbish!

Taani: Bhai yeh sach hai, aur abh mein iss bare mein kuch baat nahi karna chahati.

Swayam left Taani's room in utter shock and confusion. He was heading towards Rey's room to clear out the situation but was stopped by Niki.

Niki: Tum andar nahi ja sakte.

Swayam: Niki mera Rey se baat karna bohot important hai, please.

Niki: No! Kal baat kar lena, not now.

She dismissed him from there and soon after everyone was in their own rooms. Due to their long fight and then this commotion all fell asleep as soon as they hit the bed. Rey and Taani exhausted from crying were engulfed by sleep.

Next morning everyone woke up early so as to complete all the last minute preparations of their event which was scheduled for evening. Everyone was gathered at the buffet table in the restaurant where breakfast was laid; except Rey.

Nil: Yeh Rey kahan hai?

Vicky: Meine usse hotel ke peeche wali side dekha tha.

Simmi: Vo wahan kya kar raha tha?

Vicky: Humara event wahi hai so maybe kuch arrangements kar raha hoga.

Niki: Yansh aajayega, let's start I'm damn hungry!

Sharon: Taani tum kuch le kyun nahi rahi ho?

Sharon saw Taani staring at something or maybe someone and looked that direction. Her eyes widened in shock and her plate almost slipped out of her hands.

Niki: Aaram se.

Everyone looked at the direction where these two were staring and instantly froze on their places. Rey was walking down the lobby alongside a skinny chick, his hands round her tiny waist and she was clinging onto him like her life depended on him. On reaching near the lift he kissed her cheeks and waved goodbye to her and then he proceeded to the restaurant.

Vicky: What the..?

Nil: Kal breakup.

Vicky: Aaj hookup.

Boys (excluding Swayam): Kya speed hai!

Taani looked awkwardly towards them and left the place. Swayam glared at them to keep shut. Rey came forward towards them giving his famous smile.

Rey: Good morning guys. Breakfast jaldi khatam karo, I've a great news for you'll regarding the event.

Swayam: Rey.

Rey: Haan?

Swayam: Tujhse kuch baat karni hai.

Rey: Not now dude, bohot kaam hai. Breakfast khatam karke jaldi first floor pe jo hall hai udhar sabko leke aao.

Rey left from there. Niki left behind him. Everyone else was eating in silence and once finished started moving upstairs.

Niki: Yansh, what was that?

Rey: What was what?

Niki: Meine dekha tumne neeche kya kiya voh.

Rey: Good! I expected this.

Niki: Tum aisa kar kyun rahe ho? Taani ko wahan dekha toh kisi bhi random chick se jaake chipak gaye?

Rey: Mein toh bas usse right prove kar raha hoon. Usse yahin lagta hain na ki kal voh thi aaj koi aur hai aur parso koi aur hogi, so be it!

Niki: Kyun Yansh? Kyun apne aap ko takleef pahucha rahe ho? I know you still love Taani.

Rey: And I always will, but yeh jaroori hai warna vo mujh jaise "womanizer" se kabhi aage nahi badh payegi.

Niki: Atcha, aur tum? Kya tum chahate ho aage badhna? And I can bet, tum Taani ko kisi aur ke saath kabhi dekh nahi sakte. So why?

Rey: Nik please I don't wanna talk about all this. Team bas upar aati hi hogi.

The team entered the make shift rehearsal hall excluding Taani. On seeing them Niki shook her head at Rey and stood opposite to him.

Rey: Mujhe aaj sube news mili hai ki yahan iss event pe Honey Singh bhi perform I mean sing karne wala hai. And organisers are planning to give a combo treat to the audience.

Shivam: Meaning?

Rey: Yo Yo will sing and we'll dance to it.

Sharon: That'll be great!

Rey: I know. Meine tum sab ko yahan bulaya to finalise the songs. We need two.

Swayam: Dope Shope?

Sharon: It has great beats.

Niki: Yup! Other?

Vicky: Brown Rang?

Nil: High Heels?

Simmi: Sunny Sunny?

Rey: I was thinking of Breakup Party.

Rinni: Rey tum apne breakup ki party de rahe ho?

Rey blanches on hearing this but quickly composes himself and forces a smile.

Rey: Rinni I'm talking about the song.

Niki: No!

Rey: Why?

Niki: Forget it! We'll go ahead with this. Faltu ki argument nahi chahiye.

Rey rolls eyes on her statement and looks at others for approval.

Swayam: Rey hum koi aur song bhi le sakte hai.

Niki: Swayam leave it. He'll make us agree on this by hook or by crook, so let's not waste time and start with the routine.

Rey: Okay then, Swayam will lead in Dope Shope and me in the other. Cool?

Everyone nods. Swayam looks and Rey and finds a sly smile wandering on his face. He then recalls Taani's words.

Swayam (thinking): Kya sachme Rey ne Taani se pyaar nahi kiya? But jitna mein usse jaanta hoon he will never play with anyone's emotions. Mujhe Rey se baat karni hi hogi. I know Taani has misunderstood him for some reason, but then his behavior from morning is also different. Mujhe sach pata lagana hoga!

Rey: Shivam, tum organisers ko songs ke baare mein inform kardo.

Shivam: Kay. Practice hard guys!

Shivam leaves to meet the organisers and finds Taani on his way. He informs her about the new plans and also about the songs that the team has chosen.

Taani: Songs select kar liye aur mujhe batana bhi jaroori nahi samjha?

Her hurt was coming out as anger on everyone who spoke to her about anything related to Rey.

Shivam: Taani relax, team ne decision liya hai. Tum itni hyper kyun ho rahi ho?

Taani: Cause I need to know what's going on. Tum ruko mein aati hoon.

Shivam (wondering): Isse kya hua hai?

He follows her to the hall. Taani enters in and goes directly to Rey. He stops his practices and stands folding his hands across his chest.

Taani: Mein jaanti hoon ki D3 ek professional team hai but yahan hum St. Louis ko represent kar rahe hai. Yeh news aapne mujhe batani jaroori nahi samjhi? I am the GS, I need to know what changes are happening.

Rey: Well meine yahan ek team meeting bulayi thi aur usme aap, Miss GS sahiba ko present rehna jaroori nahi laga. So in the absence of GS, the AGS took the final decision.

Taani: You aren't the AGS as yet.

Rey: Thanks for enlightening me, but yahan Shivam present tha and decision was taken in front of him. So now if you can please excuse us, we need to rehearse.

Taani left the hall immediately followed by Shivam who tried to pacify her. Rey closed his eyes and took a deep breath to calm himself down. Niki came towards him with a mischievous grin.

Niki: Yahan bas popcorn ki kami thi.

Rey: Shut up! Let's continue.

They continued rehearsals till noon and after lunch went to their rooms to rest before the event. Swayam knocked on Rey's door. He needed to know the truth.

Rey: Swayam tum yahan?

Swayam: Kuch baat karni hai.

Rey: Andar aao.

Swayam: Coming straight to the point, why did you breakup with Taani?

Rey: Just to clear it out, it was she who broke up. Toh why ka jawab bhi ussi se pooch lo. (Swayam didn't miss the sarcasm in Rey's voice.)

Swayam: Will you tell me the reason behind this breakup?

Rey: We broke up from a relationship which only existed in her head because she came to know that I never loved her and just used her to ooze out my frustrations! (Rey spoke these words of Taani gritting his teeth.)

Swayam: Rey I want to know the truth.

Rey: I just told you that.

Swayam: You made that up cause I know this can never be true. I know you loved in fact still love her a lot. Yeh jo tum apna dard iss smile ke peeche chupa rahe ho vo karna abh band karo.

Rey: Yes you are right I love her but trust me I did not make up anything.

Swayam: Toh tum Taani ki yeh galat fehmi durr karo. Why are you creating distance?

Rey: Ab mein chahoon tab bhi kuch nahi ho sakta.

Swayam: Why you saying this?

Rey: Swayam please don't make me recall what has happened warna mein event mein nahi aa paunga. Please.

Swayam: I know you're hurt but don't punish yourself. Usse sad dekh kar tum khud sad hote ho. So please at least apne liye yeh misunderstanding durr karo. You'll feel better.

They share a brotherly hug and Swayam leaves. Niki who was eavesdropping comes in.

Niki: You ok?

Rey: When will you stop eavesdropping?

Niki: Never. Now put up a smile and come in the green room soon.

Rey: Itni jaldi kyun?

Niki: Humari GS ke orders.

Everyone is gathered in the green room. Rey is the last to enter.

Taani: Thank you aane ke liye. Hume toh laga ki aap aayenge hi nahi.

Rey: Kya karu aana pada, I don't want to disappoint the girls who have come here to see me.

Taani: Aapko aisa kyun lagta hai ki har ladki aapko pasand karti hai?

Rey: Because that's the truth and now if you can please excuse me, I have important works to do rather than taking to you.

Niki (whispering): Ouch! Ouch

Sharon: Let's rock it guys!

Group: Lets Dil Dosti Dance!

The event starts with a mesmerizing performance by D3 followed by a few duets and solos. Honey Singh entertains with his numbers making the crowd crazy. The crowd goes insane on learning that D3 will give a live performance to Yo Yo's songs. Dope Shope makes the crowd sway and dance as well.

"And now it's time for the next.."

Song starts and Rey comes centre stage while Yo Yo sings. The chorus starts and the rest of the team joins. Their dance is appreciated like always. But one person is eyeing suspiciously, and that's Taani. Her eyes are fixed on Rey and his hard expressions. She finds him to be purposely doing all this to rile her up. But why?

The last verse starts..

Usko jalau, usse bada tadpau
Apni ex ko aaj mein sabak sikhau
Iss baat, iss baat, iss baat pe uthao haath!

Rey suddenly pulls Aashi towards him and starts dancing closely. The team looks at him totally confused because of his actions. Swayam stops them and lets Rey continue. Aashi while dancing eyes him horrified. He pleads her through his eyes and continues to dance closely with her. For any stranger they look like a perfect couple dancing close, real close!

The team joins in the chorus and ends with a bang. Taani storms out from there feeling devastated. All her accusations on him were proved right. She feels betrayed by him and rushes into her room crying. The team arrives in the green room to celebrate their successful event.

Simmi: This was one heck of an event!

Sharon: I agree.

Shivam: Taani? Taani? (Shivam enters looking for Taani) Guys Taani yahan aayi thi?

Swayam: Vo tumhare saath hi to thi.

Shivam: Haan but in the end (gives a look to Rey) she disappeared all of a sudden.

Rey: Why you giving me that look?

Shivam: Song ke end mein vo sab?

Rey: Voh sab? That was PURE DANCE! Mujhe on the spot click hua and I'm sorry Aashi for pulling you all of a sudden.

Aashi: Its ok Rey. Mein jaanti hoon aapke koi galat intension types nahi the.

Shivam: You purposely chose this song na? So that tum usse chot pahucha sako?

Niki: Shivam mind you.

Shivam: Niki you stay out of it, mein Rey se baat kar raha hoon!

Niki: No I won.. (was cut by Rey.)

Rey: Nik wait. If you really want to know, then yes, I chose this song on purpose.

Shivam: So convenient right? Kisise pyaar ka jhootha natak karo and then when the person is fully attached to you just dump her like trash!

Niki: Shivam please stay out of it. Tum kuch nahi jaante ho.

Shivam: Toh sach kya hai voh batao. Voh wahan pagalo ki tarah ro rahi hai.. (Rey cuts him harshly)

Rey: Toh mein bhi yahan kuch khaas khush nahi hoon! Even I am hurt! But that doesn't mean ki mein apne room mein rote baithu. Tum sabko kya lagta hai, mein iss breakup se bohot khush hoon, mein yahan party kar raha hoon? Say?

Sharon: Rey what's the matter?

Rey: Sharon please I don't want to talk to anyone right now.

Swayam: But Rey I need to know the truth. Voh meri behen hai.

Rey: Toh ussi se jaake pooch lo!

Rey leaves and goes to the terrace to cool himself down. Swayam heads for Taani's room followed by others. Niki tries to escape to meet Rey when Shivam stops her saying they Rey needs some time alone. They enter Taani's room.

Swayam: Taani yeh sab kya chal raha hai tumhare aur Rey ke beech? I want to know the truth. NOW!

Taani: Bhai please.

Swayam: Please Taani speak up. Tum dono ko aise nahi dekh sakta mein.

Taani: Bhai voh.

She was going to speak when she spots a paper lying beneath her bed. She has the urge to see it and quickly grabs it.

"Good Morning Sweetheart.

Did you sleep well? I shouldn't be asking this as the smile on your face in the morning told me.

What now, wondering why a letter? Lemme explain!

We are here to make arrangements for the event and we haven't done even a bit of work. Last night I got a text from the organisers to meet in the morning. We both were supposed to go but seeing you sleep so peacefully I couldn't wake you up, especially after last night, hence I left.

Speaking of which, it was the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me. Thank you for that. I would want to shout it out to the whole world but I won't as I know you won't like it.

Now stop dreaming about it and listen up, I've moved my luggage to the other room as the team will be arriving this evening and I may not return back till then. Don't be sad I promise after the event I'll always be with you and won't leave you even for a bit. So yeah my bags are moved so please don't panic.

Lastly I was told by the organizer that the place we're going has very poor network so you might not be able to reach me. Cheer up girl I'll be back within few hours.

The paper fell out of her hands and she started crying badly. His words "Missed me?" when he returned were echoing in her head. Then all the harsh things she said to Rey started playing in her mind. She felt suffocated by those thoughts. She felt like killing herself for misunderstanding him. She felt like going to him and hugging him. Yes that's what she was going to do.

Taani: Rey kahan hai?

Niki: Terrace!

Before anyone could say anything, she was gone. She ran crying to the terrace. Everyone else followed her. On reaching the terrace she found Rey staring at the moon with his back towards her. Even by looking at him she could guess that he was crying. Why is he crying? Of course because of your "generous" words, her subconscious sneered at her. She ran up to him and hugged him tight from behind. He was startled for a moment but then guessed the touch. He slowly made her part out of the hug and turned to face her.

Taani: Rey.

She said still crying and tried to hug him when he stopped her by holding her hands.

I was supposed to put emoticons, but I guess I'm too tired for it. Samajh lena. Sleepy
