Chapter 18

"Arnav bhaiya... aapka juice... aapki tabiyat thik hai ???"

"Hp mujhe kuch nahi hua hai.. I am totally fine..." saying this he picked up his phone and almost instantly the bell rings.

He instantly looks at Hp and Hp rushes to open the door and he asks

"HP kahin tumne Di ko toh nahi bataya..." and before he could complete , his worried sister enters the room

"Chote yeh kaisi baat hue... tum mujhe ek phone nahi kar sakte the.. I know tumhe uss ghar mein jana pasand nahi hai.. and that's the reason I don't force you... but that doesant mean ki tumhari tabiyat kharap hogi aur tum mujhe bataoge bhi nahi.. lastly mujhe HP se pata lagega."

Hearing this Arnav looked at HP and Anjali coming infront of him said

"Chote HP ko kuch mat bolna.. otherwise I swear... Main 1 hafte ke liye yaha shioft ho jayungi..."

"Nahi.. nahi Di relax..." and he made her sit on the bed and then himself sitting beside her said

"Di I am absolutely fine.. bas thoda weakness tha.. actually you know na kaam ka pressure hai... but aap chinta mat karo I am totally fine... bas hospital hi jaane wala tha..."

Anjali smiled and then keeping her hand on his head said

""Chote tum jaante ho na... tum mere liye kitne important ho... Isliye please take care of yourself...maa hoti toh tumhe aise rehne deti kya nahi na.. then...

"Di aap janti ho na... ki aap bhi mere liye kitni maine rekhti ho... believe me mai thik hoon.. and aaj maa hoti toh maine jo kiya hai.. uske liye she would have been proud of me..."

Anjali smiled and planting a kiss on his forehead said

"Chote ... mai aur humari puri family.. tumhari wajah se proud feel karte hai... now aur emotional mat ho..."

And Arnav smiled and thinking something said

"Di aap aaj free ho???"

"Haan par kyu chote???"

Arnav smiled and said

"Aapko kisi se milwana hai.."

Anjali suppressed her smile and said

"Kya usi ladki se jiske liye tum mera coat le gaye the ???"

Arnav nodded and getting up , and collecting his things said

"Haan toh chalein ..."

Anjali smiled at her brother and getting up said

"Ya .. par use pehle ... chote tum yeh juice finish karo..." and saying this she handed him the glass, and he like a good obedient boy , gulped it down and both of them left for his car.

The car stopped at the hospital garage and Anjali looked at Arnav and said

"Chote hospital ?? Maine toh socha ki mai uss ladki se milne ja rahi hoon..."

"Haan hum usi se mine jaa rahe hai..."

"Hospital mein ??? Cmon don't tell me that tum itne busy ho that tum aapne dates bhi hospital mein hi karte ho.."

Arnav laughed and she continued

"Or kya woh tumhare saath yaha doctor hai???"

"Nahi di..."

He took a deep breathe and then turning towards her, explained everything.

Khushi was talking with Aakash , she was happy because Aakash was cured now. Both of the got the news of him being  fine , this morning itself , they were keeping him under observation for a whole week and finally they gave him the thumbs up sign , so both were happy.

Akash was happy because he was saved and now he could live a good peaceful life , and Khushi , she was because , atleast her friend will get to leave this hospital as a cured person. He will again get to see the outer world , the lights , the life everything. He will be kepot under observation for few more days and then he will be discharged. They were talking when she saw Arnav entering the room. This time she was really angry  with him and so seeing Arnav she turned her face towards Aakash and started talking with him loudly. Arnav came and stood beside her bed , but she didn't turn to even face him , so he asked

"Aakash tum thik ho abhi ??? hows you feeling???"

"I am totally fine Dr. But mujhe yeh samajh nahi aaya.. ki donor ne aapna naam bhi nahi bataya.. and even mujhse ek bar mile bhi nahi.."

"I don't know... probably he didn't wanted to reveal his identity... there are people like this."

"Hmm sayad.. but then aap unhe thanks bol dijiyega plas.."

Arnav nodded and then said

"Khushi I am sorry pls gussa mat karo..."

And saying this he hold her shoulder and turned her towards hin and she looked at him and he slowly holding his ears and softly said

"I am Sorry"                  

Aakash smiled seeing this side of Dr. Arnav and didn't wanted to disturb them , so pulled down the curtain, and as soon as he pulled the curtain down she started shouting                                   

"Kaha the tum ??? tumne kaha tha kit um 2-3 din ke liye nahi aa paoge... par yaha toh... Pura 1 week hogaya.."

"Ssshhh !!! Khushi thoda dheere bolo.. calm down..."

"Kyu ?? Kyu dheere bolu ???"

"Koi milne aaya hai tumse ..."

"Kya ??? Waise bhi sabko pata chalna chahiye ki tm..." And she stopped her mouth still open , her eyes big , almost popping out of her sockets , looking at the person standing by the door.

Arnav looked at Khushi's expression and he knew what shocked her , he smiled a bit and then leaning towards Khushi said

"Dekha kaun milne aaya hai tumse..."

She not being able to believe her eyes , nodded her head and said

"Aaannnjjj... Anjali Jha..."

Anjali smiled and entered the cabin , walked towards her bed and said

"Wow mujhe celebrity status mil rah hai.. btw tum chup kyun hogayi... mujhe toh bahut aacha lag raha tha yeh dekhkar ki koi chote ko daanta bhi hai..."

"Nahin .. nahi... woh mai.."

Arnav brought a chair and Anjali smiled and sit down and said

"Aare darne ki koi baat nahi hai.. mai khush hoon yeh dekhkar ki koi chote ko daanta toh hai.. coz maximum log isse darte hai.. aur mai toh isse daant nahi pati.. isliye tumne daanta dekhkar mujhe bahut maza aaya.."

Khushi slightly smiled , Anjali was always her idol , she had dreamt of meeting her , but today when she was sitting infront of her, Khushi was not able to speak.

Arnav meanwhile checked her board and gave her a tablet and said

"Khushi mujhe laga tum di se milkar Khushi hogi.. but yaha tum toh... chup chap baithi ho.. di tumhe kha nahi jayengi.."

"Nahi Arnav.. mera matlab Dr. Arnav mai.. mai."

And Anjali laughed and said

"Khushi tum itna darr kyu rahi ho.. main a tumhe interrogate kar rahi hoon.. aur na tumhara interview le rahi hoon..."

"Interview??" she asked

"Mere bhai ke wi... Aise hi."

Arnav smiled and said

"Ok ! listen tum dono baatein karo.. mujhe bahut kaam hai .. I will leave guys together... nd Di aap jaate time mujhe inform kar dena.."

And saying this he left.

Arnav came inside his cabin and sat down , it was a long day ahnd he was too tired . He was checking a file when he heard a knock and looked up and said

" Come in..."

Payal entered the cabin with a file . He indicated her to sit down and started finishing his work.

She sat there all silent , she really didn't know what and how to say.

"Payal... Khushi ke operation ke liye saare arrangements hogaye ???"

"Yes sir... " and telling this , she gave him the file.

"Par sir .. injections and liquid..." he while going through the file said

"Haan woh sab kal aa ayenge.." and he again got busy in checking the file , when Payal took a deep breathe and asked

"Dr. Arnav aapki tabiyat thik hai na..."

For a sec Arnav looked at her and then said

"Dr Payal.. m fine.. and I hope you know that its not a thing to discuss."

"Yes Sir..." and saying this she got up to leave and started walking towards th door and was about to open the door , when she turned for once and said

"Thank you Dr. Arnav thanks a lot... mai aapko bata nahi sakti ki jo aapne kiya hai... mere liye kitna..."

"Its ok Dr. Payal.." he said and Payal almost ran out of the cabin.

Arnav kept the file down , and leaned back on his chair and cosed his eyes and he remembered what had happened a week ago

"Yes Dr. Payal sit down..." Payal came and sat down. He looked at her gloomy face and asked

"Is everything ok Dr. Payal ???"

Payal looked at him ,and he could see tears in her eyes . Arnav for a second thought something and asked

"Payal sab thik toh hai na ... your mom and dad ???"

"Haan sir... they are fine..."

"Phir kya hua ... why are you crying .. tum theek ho ???"

Payal looked at him , uncertain ... and  Arnav bringing out his soft side said

"Payal... if you want you can tell me.. if there is anyway I can help you... I will."

Payal took out her hanky and rubbing her eyes , she said

"Sir aaj Aakash ke parents aaye the..." and Arnav nodded his head for her to continue. She gave him the full details of what happened between them and Arnav said

"Kaise ajeeb insaan hai aapne bte ko bachane ke liye..."

"Sir Aakash aab ..." and she almost broke into tears

"Payal you ok ???" he said slowly and Payal wiped her tears and continued

"Sir I know that hum doctors ko aapne patients ke liye emotional nahi hona chahiye... its against the rules.. but sir.. I .. I feel for Aakash and I cant change the fact... aur mai use aise..."

Arnav said

"How much is the amount??"

Payal took another deep breathe and said

"Sir that door went away.. and when I tried to contact him again.. he refused.. you know na.. Aakash's matches are difficult to be found.. Sir mai use aapne aankhon ke samne marte nahi dekh sakti.." and with that she again broke down.

It was as if only the last sentence was registered in his mind

"Mai use aapne aankhon ke samne marte hue nahi dekh sakti..."

He for few minutes became numb and few old painful memories , came rushing to him. He was lost somewhere deep down and that one sentence kept on repeating in his mind. He didn't know when she had left , but when he made his decision , he looked at the empty chair. He got up and went inside the testing lab and asked the pathologist to perform few tests of his and then went back to his cabin and the same thing kept on repeating in his mind.

The test reports came and he was happy to see them, he picked up Aakash's file and matched them and fortunately they matched , and he knew what he had to do now.

After an hour , Payal entered the cabin , still looking sad and her eyes have swelled a bit probably because of crying.

He asked her to sit and Payal sat down and the sentence again repeated in his mind and he this time taking a deep breathe said

"Payal , aakash ke liye donor mil gaya hai.. and everything will be fine now..."

"What ?? Sir donor mil gaya ??? That's such a good news... but sir , paise ... I will talk with Aaksh and try to arrange them as soon as possible."

"Payal you don't have to think about that.. everything is sorted out... just keep this in mind that Aakash doesn't get to know about the donor, here this is the file... make the arrangements for the operatipon... kal operation karna hoga.. ok ?"

She nodded and got up and while leaving opened the file and as soon as she read the  name of the match , she stopped , she stopped, she re- read it, and instantly turned and said

"Sir aap ???"

Arnav looked at her and said

"Mera aur Aakash ka match kar raha hai.. and I can be the perfect donor for him.. and waise bhi, I don't drink or smoke , so ek kidney ke through araam se jiya ja sakta hai.. so you don't worry... you just make arrangements and dhyan rahe iss bare mein jitney kam logo ko pata rahe utna hi aacha hai..."

"\Par Sir , Aakash aap se itni buri tarah pesh aata hai.. phir aap..."

"Payal I don't have anything against Aakash... no hard feelings and moreover mai yeh Aakash ke liye nahi kar raha hoon.. mai yeh isliye kar raha hoon.. taki eksaath 4 life kharap na ho... "

Payal nodded and before leaving slightly samiled and said

"Sir mai aapko pehli bar aise dekh rahi hoon.. and mujhe aab aache se samajh aa raha hai.. ki mai galat nahi thi...aap sach mein aache doctor hone ke saath saath ek bahut aache insaan hai..."

Arnav smiled and Payal left the room with happy tears.

Arnav opened his eyes and looked at the watch and decided that it was time to go and check Khushi.

He opened the last drawer of his table and took out the box. He traced the design with his thumb. Today he was going to open it, open it after 2 whole years. He stared at the box for 5 mins , still thinking but he knew very well what he wanted, so he very slowly and with extreme care unlocked the box and opened the cover. He could feel her. He sighed for once and looked at the two things that were kept safely inside the box. He picked up the framed photo and looked into her eyes. He missed her so much. His eyes almost get welled up with tears , but not a single one rolled down.
