@IshqKaRang

Okay! Okay! I know Vengeance has been left hanging for quite some time now but I had this new idea and had to write it down. Hopefully this means I’ll get back to writing Vengeance soon too. Yes, the updates will be sporadic but I’ll try my best to not leave either of the two hanging. Maybe I’ll start updating after I’ve finished writing the whole story for this one. But for now, here’s a little teaser.

Do let me know how you like it/hate it.

Cheers,

Neet

Prologue

She stared at the blurring faces looking down on her. Her vision on her right side was tinted red. Blood, she mused. It was probably blood. She knew she was hurt. How badly? She had no idea. It had all happened so fast. The speeding truck, a flash of yellow color as it hurtled at her, the sound of tires screeching, the smell of burnt rubber, a gust of strong wind as she was thrown mid-air, the loud thud as her body had met the ground, the sticky wetness of her own blood against her fingers as it pooled in dark crimson around her. But strangely, she felt no pain.. No pain at all..

They say your entire life flashes in front of you as you breathe your last. But all she could think, all she could feel, was a strange emptiness. She focused her gaze with much difficulty on the man who had cradled her in his arms like she was the most precious thing in the world to him. There was fear, maybe some guilt and what looked a lot like pain in his eyes.

Shiva.

The man who had been her life. The man whose love was at once, her devotion and her destruction.

“Raavi.. aankhein band math karna.. main tujhe kuch nahi hone doonga.. Suna tu ne?” He frantically patted her face. “Ey Chipkali! Tu mujhe chhodke aise nahi jaa sakthi, samjhi? Abhi tho tujhe aur bhi mere sar pe khade hokar naachna hai! Please, mujhe chhodke math jaa.. nahi jee paaoonga tere bina.. please.. Tu chahthi thi na ki main maan loon ki main tujhse pyaar kartha hoon.. maan liya! Duniya bhar ke saamne, ek nahi.. ek hazaar baar.. I love you.. I love you, Raavi.. please mujhe chhodke math jaa..”

Maybe it was because he was sobbing so hard but his voice was getting feebler with each word, Raavi thought. If she could speak, she would have said, “too little, too late, Shiva.” But she couldn’t. She was tired. She didn’t have the energy to fight anymore, much less to speak. The darkness engulfed her in a strong sweep and she furtively imprinted the image of his face in her eyes as she finally succumbed to the cold bright light.
