Part 14 : Reopening a closed chapter

Kunal's Pov: The flight could have been longer, naah nothing happens in my life just like how i wish.

The house was rather lit than its usual self and the croud was more than what Kunal could intake

Kunal(to a person): Pramod uncle, why is everyone gathered at our home? Do we have some kind of aarthi at home?

Unlce: Kunal, you have come late for your brother's engagement and cracking joke?

Kunal: Anand?

Uncle: Do you wanna crack all jokes here and miss the function, come lets go inside

At the house,..........

Uncle: See Mr.Chopra, you have a surprise. Your older son is here after cancelling his important meet at Dubai.

Kunal rather felt un-welcomed for his own brother's engagement but that was not his worry

Kunal: Anand! Can i have a word with you?

They both walk to the terrace without making a hustle

Anand: Bhaiya, i can explain you

Kunal: Wth is happening Anand, why are you getting engaged to someone? And where is Siddhi?

Anand: What is Siddhi supposed to do here?

Kunal: She is supposed to be with you, you love her and she loves you

Anand: What is wrong with you bhai? She doesnt love me, and what made you think that she will marry me after you left her abandoned?

Kunal: You two are supposed to be together!

Anand(laughs): I don't think she loves me like the way she did for you, i was jealous at for a moment back then. The way she cared for you, you wont even notice what she did and it didnt matter to her, she would go back and do the same again. You really know how to break a heart isnt? I should say we are the most unluckiest brothers in world, we almost had her in life but let her vanish .

Kunal: I... I wanted her to be happy , i wanted you to be happy Anand

Anand: No...No this is not on me, please dont take your assumptions to be my choices. I never asked you to leave her for me, is she a doll? She is a women with flesh and feelings, and more than all that she was your wife bhaiya!

Kunal: Last time when we went....She had a photo of you two in her room even now, she really cares for you Anand. She has all your letters, the honeymoon ticket(chuckles) she loves you Anand. You should talk to her, maybe she still..

Anand(laughs harder): Thats it? Is this why you dumped her ? You still have pictures of Richa in your album, probably in your diary too that doesnt mean you love her.

Kunal: I didnt dump her Anand

Anand: Oh, this is what we call dumping.  Bhaiya, that was probably her first visit to her brother's home after her marriage with you, she might not even remember that those silly things were still there. 

Kunal: eh.. but you loved her

Anand: Yes I did brother, but she didnt. She loved only you, you, you and everyone around us knew it , couldnt you see?  How do you expect me to marry her bhaiya? even after all these things that we had, we still have some friendship left and i dont want to spoil it. And unlike you i dont want my bride waiting for me, excuse me.

Kunal: Anand! where is Siddhi?

Anand: Why do you care bhai?

Kunal: because, she is still my wife and i dont want to lose her.

Anand: At her brother's home, and this time please dont mess up (gives Kunal a hug)

Kunal runs to Kapil's house

A unpleasant knock on  his door wakes Kapil,

Kunal:  Siddhi!

Siddhi(in a shock): aap,? Is everything fine at home?

Kunal(not able to move his eyes off her):  THUDDDDDDD( a loud sound that arouse due to a slap)

Kapil slapped Kunal the moment he saw him

Siddhi(tears in eyes): Bhaiya! what are you doing? Please leave Kunal (comes in between these two)

Kapil: What you did with my sister is not right Kunal, for all that she did for you and your family, she didnt deserve that

Kunal(pov): no one except for my father has raised a hand on me, or to re-phrase no one was left uninjured after hitting me, but today its different i wish Siddhi did that to me. The moment Kapil hit me, Siddhi's eyes poured out like she is the one experiencing my pain, maybe Anand was right, I didnt understand her love.

Siddhi: Kunal! Aap teek hai? im sorry for Kapil bhaiya, is there anything important that you wanted to say? Is everyone fine?

Kunal: I want to speak with you Siddhi (looks at furious Kapil) alone!

Siddhi takes Kunal to her room

Siddhi: What happened?

Kunal: Siddhi, Anand is getting engaged today

Siddhi: yes, I do know that Kunal

Kunal: and yet you didnt come there?

Siddhi(chuckles sadly): you see i am not only your ex-wife , i was his ex- aswell . And i dont think it would be good sight having me there. Again, what is this all about?

Kunal: This is about the first part, you being my ex-wife. Actually we are not officially divorced

Siddhi: what?!!

Kunal: the papers you signed were my clients, and you never read them

Siddhi: So, you want my sign again?

Kunal: No, i dont want a divorce, i want things to be back the way they were. I want you back in my life Siddhi

Siddhi: Did'nt you get a good maid all these months? Or probably they never stayed like me, or probably they asked you to pay?

Kunal: I know you are hurt by my actions Siddhi and I deserve that, but I came here looking for my second chance.

Siddhi: Yeah a second chance at divorce,  let me file the divorce this time so there wont be any mistakes.

Kunal: When i came here i wanted to be just Kunal Chopra, not the lawyer

Siddhi: But unfortunately you are the lawyer Kunal, at home, at court and even in your life. So all that i want from you is divorce Kunal

Kunal: You leave me with no option Siddhi, you can go ahead and file divorce but it wont be mutual. That leaves the judge with no option than giving an extended 6 months to our relationship, unless you file a domestic abuse as a reason. Well you can certainly use that, and i believe my entire family can help you testify that, and i wont defend that case.

Siddhi: I always thought that Mr.Thakral was my enemy, but he was just your enemy. When i left his firm he asked me if i wanted to continue there, not because of you, but he valued me as an employee. But you Kunal, you didnt even give me a chance back then nor now. You knew I wouldnt file such a domestic abuse case against you,!!!  what will you get out of this forced relationship Kunal?

Kunal: That's my problem to deal , So i guess we have come by an agreement. Here are your tickets to Delhi, and the flight is on Sunday 7 am.

Siddhi: Really! you want me to leave my job, my city

Kunal: Which job? I know you havent worked since I ..(cuts in)

Siddhi: Since you dumped me

Kunal: You will have a job waiting in delhi when you land

Siddhi: Why should everything be by your choice Kunal?

Kunal: If you dont like delhi, tell me which place you wanna stay next 6 months Siddhi, we can go there.

Siddhi: Its not the place, its your company that bothers me

Kunal: I can argue with you all night Siddhi, but i have to prepare for your arrival in Delhi, so i will leave now, and thank Kapil on my behalf. That was an wonderful slap to remember.
