Don't Rain Again
In a dark street, from which I was passing. The only ray of hope was the street light to enlighten it. It witnessed the lightening of the clouds which was enough to boil my inner turmoil.
Alas, the clouds were ready to sprinkle the water over me and finally they open their doors and the night of rain arrived again, to drench me with the agony of mine.
The first droplet of water kissed my cheek, which was enough to sprinkle the water from my eyes. I fell over the soil to rattle out my soul and when it drench me more I cried out loud.
But somewhere else in the world, two arms extended in the same rainy night, looks like precious to that person and tilted the chin to enjoy to drench even more.
I was suspicious, why she was so glad and mesmerized with the same rain, was that I? No, it couldn't be. It was him!!
I stepped in and stood by my toes, "Main bhoot hoon," changing my voice I pranked on him.
He dragged me towards him from my arm, "Nobody knows this bhoot better then me," and pecked my cheeks.
"This is not done Sahil, you fail my plan everytime," she made a puppy face.
Sahil flung his arms on her neck, "Amara, my love. Prank tumhara department I know, but being stubborn is mine," and he forcefully cupped me in arms to drench in the rain.
Joyfully we enjoyed that rain in each other's arms, not being Amara and Sahil or I and him but 'us'. The best thing was that night wasn't rain but the pranks, love and kisses we shared.
We danced in it, sprinkle water on each other, ran to catch one another and what not. We were in last twenties still were children, when we're together.
I knelt down on my knee, "Well, Mr. Sahil Arora will you marry this nothing but something, Amara Bahl?"
I closed my eyes and then finally open them to be found him on his knees. His eyes were tearful when he held my palms and a teardrop fell on them.
"Sahil?," I was shocked witnessing him emotional, the very first time in my life and the water droplet on my finger, he touched.
I looked in his eyes, "We are one now," smiling broad and made me cry. He embraced me in his arms and said, "Let's go on a long drive Mrs. Arora"
I blushed hard and hid my face in his chest, "Oho! Kudi sharmandi bhi hai? (This girl, shies too)," he joked at which I hit his chest and he sat me on driving seat of the car.
The smile vanished from my face, "You know, I am learning to drive"
"I know, I will guide you," he being stubborn said.
"But Sahil," I was nervous
"Amara, don't you trust me," Sahil made a puppy face which I hate most, so I sat on driving seat and with the guidance I start driving.
The rainfall became heavy, we were on sharp turn, the night was dark just like a nightmare and a truck instantly came without any horn and I hit on it, what I remember was the next morning.
Being in a hospital bed I asked, "What am I doing here"
"You had a drastic accident," the police inspector who has arrived to take my statement informed.
I immediately left the bed when nurses stopped me. I kept chanting Sahil!
"Let her meet him," the police allowed.
I noticed the bars between us and he came near me looking questionable, "Who is she nurse, " with laughter.
I read on the board near, "Mental asylum"
Tonight, is the same night of our love, engagement and accident but the only thing echoes in my ears, "Nobody knows this bhoot better than me"
I winced out, "Don't Rain Again," the tears kissed my cheeks and laughed at my loneliness when they reached my finger.
