The big red spot in their cream double bedsheet looked mockingly at her announcing the uninvited arrival of Aunt Flo 3 days earlier than expected. She felt the cold hands of panic grip and turn her heart as a loud voice pounded in her brain

"Baa... look what she has done. How can I ever sleep here again... How careless can you be, disgusting woman?"

"Can't you be careful on such things? Why must you be so shameless. Now stop shivering and CLEAN IT UP. The bedsheet should look as good as new. And once complete, mop the entire room. No idea how her mother brought her up... couldn't even care for such little things."

Vanraj made a disgusting face, held his nose and left the room. 

"Anu... I have an important meeting today and I have to leave early.... are you.... Anu?"

He looked at her eyes fixed at the bed and her figure trembling. His gaze followed hers and he quickly spotted the stain in the sheet. She mumbled 

"Woh... I didn't... came... early... didn't realize... I... sorry... I will... clean... sorry... I..."

He quickly went to the bathroom an switched on the geyser. He then moved to her wardrobe and grabbed a towel, a saree, her inner wear and a napkin. Walking to her side, he placed them in her hand and caressed her face. Placing a small peck on her forehead,

"Here.... go take a shower. I have switched on the geyser. I have heard warm shower helps..."

"But...."

"No buts, Anu...."

He put his hands on her shoulder and marched her to the bathroom and shut the door.

She stepped out of the shower feeling much relaxed. He had been right as always, the warm water did calm her nerves and her aching muscles. Thinking to clean their bed next, she moved towards the bed only to find that the stained bedheet had been replaced by a clean new one.

"Nitin.... can you postpone the meeting to tomorrow morning? I am taking off today...."

She followed his voice and found him in the balcony hanging the bedsheet to dry. The stain was gone now. 

"Anu... how are you feeling now? Better....?"

She nodded in negative and moved closer to him. Snuggling in his chest, she breathed in his scent. He put his arms around and held her tight.

"Anuj... you don't have to take off today... isn't the meeting important...?"

He pushed her a little so that his eyes met hers. 

"Not more important than you.... I promise"

His lips reached hers and he sealed the promise with a passionate kiss.
