Chapter 20

Taani and Maya arrive at the restaurant, it looks a bit posh making Taani think she should have worn some formal and she voices it out to Maya, "You look gorgeous, almost ravishing" Maya says with a smirk, Taani hits Maya on the arm for ravishing comment and blushes. "What I am just telling the truth" they walk in hand in hand. Maya opens the door for Taani making her smile. 

"Hi, table for Miss Oberoi?" Maya asks the receptionist. "Yes, welcome, your table is right over there, enjoy" the receptionist points at a table in the cozy corner. They walk towards it and Maya pulls the chair for Taani, "You don't have to do all this yk?" Taani asks seating down, "I know, but I want to" Maya says sitting down in front of Taani. 

"Yeh kuch zyada expensive nai he? Are you sure you can afford this on a Professor's salary? Taani says teasingly, "haha very funny" and they order. "So now that the ordering is out of the way, tell me something about yourself" Maya asks, "Like?" Taani asks, "Like are you always rude to your professors or do I get special treatments?" Maya asks smirking, "I am actually very polite to my professors, only not to who are khadoos and order me around all the time" Taani teases, "So special treatment it is, have you been with a woman before?" Maya asks curious, "I haven't dated any women if thats what you are asking but I did kiss my best friend back home, we both were high on bhang and thn it got awkward and we stopped talking" Taani feels a bit sad remembering. 

Maya curses herself for making Taani sad, "sorry", "aap kyun sorry bol rhi ho? We should know about each other right?" Taani says with a smile. "Do you like working in police?" Taani asks, "I do actually, I have always wanted to be one since I met Aman's father, he is a police officer too, the best man I have ever met" Maya admits. "Any idea what you want to do after graduation?" Maya asks making Taani nervous as this had been one the reason Rey and she had broken up for, she decides to be honest with Maya, "I actually don't really have any plan, I am going to do my masters but I always had thought that I would be a stay home person after marriage or something" Taani says looking down waiting for a disapproving look like always. 

"That's not a bad plan" Maya says surprising Taani, "you would want a partner who is a stay home partner?" Taani asks incredulously. "Why not? I earn enough. My only issue is that my partner is well educated so that if something happens to me thn they are not completely out of depth or have to depend on someone else." Maya says as a matter of fact. 

Taani is surprised by her answer, "wese bhi I want kids in the future so it would be naise if one parent is at home with them, I grew with mom being too sick to take care of me and dad working to keep the house running, it was a bit lonely growing up." Maya admits feeling a little raw talking about her feelings.

"My parent died when I was 5, I don't remember them much, Tauji spoils me whenever he has time but he is busy with work a lot, Taiji loves me but main focus bhai the, I can't begrudge her for it either. I want kids too and I don't want them feel neglected, I want to build a beautiful home for my family you know I don't mind working but if I had a choice toh I would do this?" Taani says feeling a bit raw having never said it to someone in this detail.

"First date and we are already talking about kids, kafi zyada tez he aap MIss GS" Maya says trying to lighten the mood. "Start kisne kiya tha?" Taani says with a small smile. 

"Achcha theeke, let's talk about you checking me out any chance you get?" Maya says with smirk, expecting Taani to blush which she does, "I dont check you out!" Taani grumbles. 

They are almost done with their meals, Maya asks for the check.

They get in the car, "Muje ice cream khani he" Taani demands, "Is that why you refused desert?" Maya says while starting the car. "Haan I want a kulfi", liking Taani demanding stuff, Maya agrees and drives towards a kulfi stall. She tells Taani to wait in the car while she gets her kulfi. 

"Hmm, its been so long since I had a kulfi na, its so yummy!" Taani says licking it making Maya eyes get transfixed on her, the way her tongue slowly licks the kulfi, the smudge on her lip. "Aapne apne liye kyun nai li?" Taani asks looking at Maya, Maya swallows roughly. "Ese hi" she says in a daze, "try mine" Taani says offering her but Maya leans over to making Taani inhale sharply and slowly licks the ice cream on the side of Taani's lip. "You are right, it is yummy" she says sitting back in her seat while Taani is just staring at her with wide eyes, "muje baadme niharna, kulfi pighal jayegi" Maya says with a smirk which brings Taani out of her daze. She blushes and quickly finishes her kulfi.

Maya drives Taani to her house and gets out as Taani slides out of her side. Taani walks over to Maya, "Did you have fun today?" Maya asks feeling a little unsure, "I had the best time, thank you" Taani says shyly looking down. "Well I would give you a goodnight kiss but I don't think your brother who is staring at us thru the window would appreciate it" Maya says making Taani roll her eyes at Swayam's behavior. 

"I will see you on Monday?" Maya asks, Taani nods looking down feeling jittery. Maya gives her a forehead kiss making Taani smile at the sweet gesture, "go inside before he comes out" Maya says stepping away from Taani.

Taani goes in and locks the door after which Maya drives away.

"Taani are you happy?" Swayam asks, "I am, she makes me happy" Taani says simply and thn goes to her room.

Thinking about the date and blushes, she quickly changes into her pajamas and goes to sleep after seeing a goodnight msg from Maya and replying the same. She sleeps with a smile.
