Lifting her head to confirm that the faint voice calling her name was the one she craved to hear, she went numb with disbelief.

.

“Anuj!” she mouthed and staggered down the stairs with her eyes fixated on his precious face.

Each step marking a different emotion as she climbed down the stairs thanking Kanhaji for restoring her faith in him. She felt grateful that he was safe, felt happy to have her companion back and most of all she felt lucky, now that she could love him back...

With happy tears blurring her vision and the loud celebration screaming within her, she stumbled over the last step and landed right in front of him as he caught her just in time like always.

Shocked to see her there, he tried to read her teary eyes and relieved expression.

“Anupama, tum yahan?” he asked in amazement but she said nothing.

“kya hua Anu, tum ro kyu rahi ho?” he asked as her tears started to worry him.

She couldnt get enough of his face and kept staring at him with all her love pouring out of her eyes.

“Anupama tum mujhe pareshan kar rahi ho, hua kya hai tumhe?” he asked fearfully as she crept closer than she already was, making him very uncomfortable.

And with one last wholeheartedly consuming look, she jerked him back when she threw her arms around and pulled him in a thrilling embrace.

The feeling was surreal, she was ecstatic but he was perturbed...and couldn't get himself to hug her back.

“Anupama” he whispered embarrassingly and gently tried to push her arms away to free himself of her immensely strong and devouring grip.

“Anuj, vaada kijiye ke aap mujhe kabhi chodke nahi jayenge” she spoke for the first time in a long while.

Tugging him tighter she said “Anuj mai aapke bina jee nahi paoongi”

He hopelessly wanted to savour her touch but knew it would be wrong to mistake her fear of losing him for love. 

She was obviously terrified about the accident he assumed and mentally justified her being there and the hug that he struggled to free himself from.

“Anu mai thik hoon, mai kahi nahi jaa raha, mai hamesha tumhare saath hoon” he said it all in one go to calm her down and waited for her to pull away but she didnt.

“Anuj mai aapki hoon..bas aapki.” she announced with all her might and redid her pull on him to make him believe that it wasn’t a dream...

It still felt like a dream to him...he couldn't believe what was happening was real.

With an intense sense of stinging hysteria taking over his body and soul, he waited for her to say that one thing that would put all his doubts to rest... and she did..

“Anuj mai aapse bohot bohot bohot....” he needed to hear no more and pulled her so close and firm that she found it hard to breathe...
