Chapter V

Two months after Sona broke up with Dev, her family started looking forward to getting her married to a Bengali guy who doesn't carry any baggage of his past and ofcourse would not have a nasty mother like Ishwari Dixit. Sona although reluctant to go ahead with the marriage plans finally gave in to her family's demands of settling down in life...this decision was not an easy one for her...she just couldn't forget the wonderful moments she had spent with Dev in the two months of their togetherness...and moreover she couldn't forget his betrayal...he didn't even blink once before calling it off with her...so strong was his love for his mother that all the promises he had made to her stood nullified within a moment...but still her heart conflicted with her mind...somewhere deep down her heart she still loved him immensely...and knew he loved her too...but far away from this imaginary world of theirs stood a fir reality that they could never be together again...even if they wished so.

Ritwick...the alliance that Sona's family had arranged for her was a sweet and kind natured guy...Sona had confined to him all the incidents of her past...her love for Dev, their time together, the reason behind their infamous breakup...everything...he had promised her to help her out of this mess. He had surely turned into a dear friend for Sona...she had started sharing her daily routine with him...they would often meet for coffee and dinner dates...he was all what a girl could imagine her dream husband to be but that girl was definitely not Sona...for her he was just a dear friend...a friend with whom she could share all the sorrows of her life but someone whom she'll never be able to love.

Here Dev had turned into a hopeless stalker...he would follow Sona wherever she would be...from her social media profile he had realized that her alliance was being fixed with Ritwick...this was the fact he hated and dreaded the most...imagining Sona with some other guy was impossible for him...and here she was all set to get married to someone else...the fact that she'll be somebody else's wife was bugging him all day long...the fact that she'll be touched by someone in a intimate way, and that someone will not be him was indigestible for him. He tried to find ways to be in her life...to spoil her new found relationship...to emphasis on his importance in her life infront of Ritwick so that he would cancel the alliance form his side...but all his planning turned out to be futile.

Despite his repeated attempts Ritwick got engaged to Sona...he did gatecrash their engagement and create a scene there...the proceedings were also stalled for sometime due to the ruckus...but Ritwick was mature enough to go ahead with the engagement so as to not add up to Sona and her family's humiliation...15 days had passed and now Sona was all set to get married to Ritwick after 3 days...functions were on in full swing...here Dev was on a self destruction path...he had stopped coming home everyday...he would stay back at his office and immerse himself in drinking his sorrows off...his mother had tried to get him back to his original self but had failed...somewhere she had realized that her impact in his life had lessened and Sona had taken the most prominent spot in his life.

It was Sona's wedding day and here Dev was losing all hopes of getting her back in his life...he had started to give up his attempts and on his life overall...but before her wedding he decided to give it a last try...he dialed a number and spoke to someone and setup a meeting half an hour later...that person was none other than Ritwick...he agreed to meet Dev for the one last time...and this time  he had decided to take Sona along with him, making a lame excuse at their places, Sona and Ritwick managed to slip out of their respective houses to meet at the place where Dev had called Ritwick...both Dev and Sona were oblivious to each other's presence and hence were shocked on coming face to face...and a little apart from them stood a person who had understood the fact that both Dev and Sona immensely loved each other but had split up for their family's sake...and he knew if there was any person who could bridge the gap between these two love deprived souls that it was him...
his mind prompted him to take Sona away from there after giving a earful to Dev to stop interfering in their lives...while his heart told him that he was nothing but a obstacle between these two...ignoring his rambling mind he decided to go with his heart...and he informed them both that he was leaving Delhi forever and leaving it up to them whether to unite for the sake of their love or not.

Few days passed by with Sona's family being angry at her decision of ending her relationship with Ritwick and deciding to give her love another chance where they firmly believed that Dev didn't deserve it at all...Ishwari unaware of the latest developments in her son's life and feeling elated at the fact that Dev had slowly started getting back to his normal self without being aware of the actual reason behind this...but amidst all this they had forgotten that Ritwick and Sona's marriage was already registered under family court and hence although in real life Sona and Ritwick stood far apart from each other...had no contact whatsoever, but in virtual and legal world they were husband and wife...Sona was now legally Mrs. Sonakshi Ritwick Sen for the world.

It was quite late when Dev realized this truth, with Ritwick disappearing into the oblivion, it was impossible to get him sign the divorce papers...here Ishwari was quite content as she felt Sona had already been married to Ritwick...Dev was in a dilemma as to what he should be doing in such a situation...marrying Sona would be against law and also against his ethics as his own mother was unaware of the fact that he and Sona have got back together...he did want to get married to Sona but did not wish to hide their relationship from the society...Dev's lawyer and good friend Mr. Malhotra suggested that they should either track down Ritwick of wait for 7 long years before taking the wedding vows as after 7 years Sona and Ritwick's marriage would stand canceled...Dev was reluctant for the same but on Sona's insistence he finally had to agree.

Sona didn't wish to get married to Dev against his family's wishes and also expected his mother to accept her with open arms and give her the due respect she deserved...she shifted her base to Mumbai...away from her as well as Dev's family...she had set up her own clinic there and soon got very much involved in her work...Dev too shifted his head office to Mumbai and started staying in the same complex as Sona...against her wishes, something which she always blamed him for...unable to control his emotions he would often land up at her place at odd hours as he couldn't handle the pinch of being so far from her despite of staying at a distance of mere 2 floors...people started doubting their relationship and often Sona would be at the receiving end from the neighbors as Dev would always be away for his business tours...she had started succumbing to societal pressure and when Dev realized it he took a hasty decision...to pretend that they were a married couple so that nobody would malign Sona and her character...one fine day he and Sona walked in dressed up as the bride and groom...much to their nasty neighbor's pleasure...he moved in with Sona in her flat and they literally started living inn much to the dismay of Sona's family members.

Six years had passed and one more had to go...their long wait of 7 years would finally come to an end...they could get married and live as man and wife...may be after their marriage Bijoy baba would finally pardon them for their mistake...
