Hi guys, Thanks for the overwhelming response.. Love u guys for your encouraging words.. I've written some scenes in continuation of the last part followed by the epilogue..

Here we go..

After what seemed like years to Dev, Dr Sinha finally allowed him to visit Sonakshi. From where he stood, he could see her chest rising up and down in a gentle rhythm, but that was not enough to assure him of her beating heart. Moving fully into the room, Dev watched her monitors as if he was guarding against some horrible twist of fate. He took a good look at her, there were so many wires attached to her body, but to him she was still breathtakingly beautiful.

Dev had taken up permanent residence at Sonakshi's bedside. Most of the staff would have understood.. if that was all he was doing. But instead of sitting quietly, he had taken it upon himself to question everyone who came in the room. What were they doing? How much morphine were they giving her? Who was checking her stitches? All of the questions seemed designed to drive everyone nuts. And more than one doctor was tempted to snap at him until they saw the way he looked at Sonakshi's still body. Then all the protestations died away.

Dev had gone to get some medicines for sonakshi and was on his way back to her room when he saw Bijoy Bose running out of the room asking " Can I get a doctor here? Sona is awake" Dev went racing into the room, stopping on the threshold. His eyes were fixed on Sonakshi, but his body did not move.

The doctors were leaning over Sonakshi, checking her alertness with a flashlight. Sonakshi moved her head, She saw her mother and brother beside her, but she did not register that they were there. Her eyes were searching for the one person she wanted to see.

"Shona beta, can you hear me?" her father asked.

Sonakshi wanted to respond, but all her energy and focus were on the man in her doorway. " Dev," she croaked.

Dev rushed forward then, moving past Bijoy to take a seat on the side of the bed. His eyes filled with tears as he looked at her, and her own eyes responded.

"Sonakshi" he murmured, lifting her hand and kissing it. The relief he felt was so urgent and consuming, that he could hardly speak at first. He just kept pressing kisses to her hand and staring at her with happy eyes. When he finally spoke, he struggled to keep his tone light. " So we need to redefine the meaning of See you later'" referring to the last thing she said to him when they last spoke on the phone.

Sonakshi laughed hoarsely, her throath unbelievable sore, as her eyes shimmered with unshed tears as she looked at him " Im sorry if I scared you" They looked at each other as if there was no one else in the room, easily shutting out everything else but the two of them.

"Scared me? Miss Bose, you are now responsible for every nightmare I ever have" Dev's tone was tender, as he kept her hand in his.

"That bad, huh?" Sonakshi asked with a grin.

"Worse" Dev said, his voice so low that only she could hear.

Sonakshi suddenly remembered the reason why she was here.

" Is auntyji ok?" She asked, her eyes worried.

"How can I not be okay? My daughter saved my life" came Ishwari's voice.

Dev and Sonakshi turned their heads to the voice and saw Ishwari standing at the doorway, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. She stepped forward and took Sonakshi's other hand in hers.

"Im so sorry beta, a million sorries would not suffice today, I don't know what to say.. I was so blinded in my love for my son that I failed to understand that he needed you as a tree needs sunshine. He would wither away without you. Im so sorry"

"No Auntyji, please don't say sorry. You need to understand that I may be the sunshine in Dev's life but your are his roots. No matter how high he rises with sunshine's help, he can never let go of his roots. You were the most important woman in his life and will always remain so. I never meant to compete for Dev's affections," said Sonakshi.

" Lets agree to share the spot, shall we? He is the most important man in our lives, and we are equally important to him" advised Ishwari, running her hands over sonakshi's face.

Dev's eyes filled with tears as he looked at the two pillars his life. So this is what true happiness feels like, he thought.

He kissed Sonakshi's hand again. "I thought I had lost you" he murmured against her skin.

"You could never lose me," Sonakshi said, "We said forever, right?"

Dev nodded and smiled.

Nikki cleared her throat, turning Dev and Sonakshi's attention to her. " Bhaiya, agar aap ka romance ho gaya ho toh sona di, oops, I mean Sona bhabhi ko rest karne dijiye"

Sonakshi looked down shyly. Ishwari said, " Arre haan haan, Ab jaldi se thik ho jao beta, aur ghar aa jao, apne ghar, hamesha k liye"

Everyone had the biggest smiles on their faces. Dev and Sonakshi were finally together, everything was right in the world.

*A few years down the line..*

"Okay how about accessories" Dev said looking at Devakshi.

"A-C-C-E-S-S-O-R-I-E-S" She spelled the words with ease as she smiled at her father.

"Circumstances"

"C-I-R-C-U-M-S-T-A-N-C-E-S"

"Okay last one. Multiplication"

"M-U-L-T-I-P-L-I-C-A-T-I-O-N"

" Very good, princess" Dev said as he put the spelling list on her nightstand. Dev and Devakshi turned to see Sonakshi standing at the door with one year old Devansh on Sonakshi's hip.

"Oh, don't let us interrupt" Sonakshi chuckled while Devansh cooed.

"Aku wanted to revise her spellings once more before going off to sleep" said Dev, looking affectionately at his daughter.

"Awww my baby knows all her words perfectly. Now kiss Daddy good night, Daadi is looking for you"

"But Daddy has to give me chocolate first, I got all the spellings right"

"Aku, no chocolates at night" warned Soankshi.

"Its okay Sona, Aku will brush her teeth before sleeping, right Aku?"

"Yes Daddy" she said, taking the chocolate from Dev's hand and giving him a kiss on the cheeks as she gobbled down half the chocolate and offered some to Sonakshi.

"No baby, mommy doesn't want" said Sonakshi

"Please mommy, have some. You can also brush your teeth at night." replied Devakshi, innocently.

Soankshi laughed as her daughter put some of the chocolate in her mouth. She carried Devansh and Devakshi to Ishwari's room. Both the kids loved to sleep with their Granny and she spoilt them to bits. After kissing both the kids good night, Dev and Sonakshi returned to their room. Dev looked lost in thought as Sonakshi applied hand cream.

"Whats wrong Dev? What are you thinking?" she asked.

"I was thinking about Devakshi" he replied solemnly.

"Ya, what about her?"

" She's growing up too fast" Dev said sadly.

"Dev, she's five." said Sonakshi.

"Ya, but she knows all her spellings, she is so mature and takes care of Devansh as well"

"She's too smart for her age," said sonakshi, smiling. " She takes after her mom"

"Oh, is it? And what about her Dad? Isnt he smart?" asked Dev, with a naughty glint in his eyes.

" No, her dad is Obodhro" teased Sonakshi.

"Acchaa.. what did her Dad do to earn the title of Mr Obodhro? Did he kiss mommy like this.." he said, pulling Sonakshi closer and placing soft kisses along the nape of her neck.

Sonakshi moaned softly as he moved from her neck to her jaw. He looked in her eyes and whispered " I love you" She smiled and covered his lips with hers. Dev smiled into the kiss. She tasted of chocolate and hope.  He nuzzled his head in her neck as he proceeded to make love to his wife. Afterwards, they lay in bed together, Sonakshi all snug and warm in one of Dev's t-shirt as she snuggled closer to him and drifted off to sleep. Dev placed a soft kiss on her forehead, pulling her closer and smiled as he rest his head on her forehead and thanked his lucky stars for blessing him with this woman in his arms. Dev Dixit was happy. He was finally home.
