Sonakshi felt a certain dread creep up on her as she followed Ishwari towards the secluded godown. She had a bad feeling about this. "What is auntyji doing in the middle of nowhere following this strange car?" sonakshi thought. She saw Ishwari standing in the middle of the godown talking to someone. She hid behind a pillar and peeped out to see who Ishwari was talking to. What she saw only added to her confusion. A burly looking man wearing truck driver type clothes and heavy gold chains stood at the car looking at Ishwari with something malevolent in his eyes. Suddenly, Sonakshi remembered he was the same man she had seen at Dixit mansion when she first started working there. Even then when she had asked Ishwari about him, she had gotten a very strange reaction. She knew this guy meant trouble. She was suddenly very alert, and also scared. Scared, not for herself, but for Ishwari aunty. She decided to call the cops, just in case. She pulled out her cell phone, but to her dismay there was no cell service. She cursed the godforsaken place for having no network and tried to move towards the door to get better cell reception. Meanwhile, she heard raised voices and turned back towards the spot where Ishwari and that man stood. He was yelling at her about something but she couldn't hear properly. She looked at her cell phone and was relieved to see there was faint network, in her hurry she dialled 1 instead of 100 and the call went to speed dial. The number 1 person on her speed dial was none other than her Mr Dixit.

Dev was still immersed in Sonakshi's thoughts when he heard his phone ring. He thought he would ignore the call and went to cut it, but the name on his screen made him sit upright with a jolt. Sonakshi was calling him!! He couldn't believe it. He had tried to call her countless times, but she said she needed some time to herself before she could talk again. And today, she was calling him. He picked up the phone excitedly. "Hello?"

Sonakshi was about to cut the call when she heard Ishwari scream. In her haste to turn back she dropped her phone. Ishwari was yelling at the man.

I: Kyu aaye ho tum? Akela kyu nai chhod dete mujhe

K: Arre aise kaise akela chhod du Ishwari, Barso ka hisab jo pura karna hai..

I: Kya chahte ho tum?

K: Paisa..

I: Woh toh tumhe milne se raha.. mere bte k mehnat k paise mein tumhe nai dene wali

Khatri took a step towards Ishwari menancingly. He tried to hit her but instead he felt someone's hand holding his own. He turned to face the person and saw it was the same girl who was at Dixit house the other day. He didn't know who she was.

Dev was listening to the entire conversation. At first he thought sona has misdialled his number, but when he heard his mother's voice he became alert. He also heard Khatri's voice and froze. He couldn't think straight. He knew his mom and sona were in danger. "What are sona and Maa doing together?" he thought. But this wasn't the time to ponder about such details. He needed to get to them as fast as possible. Khatri couldn't be trusted. He tried saying Hello, hello a few times but there was no response. He was getting more nervous with every passing minute. He called tina to his cabin. " Tina, tumhe pata hai Ms bose iss  waqt kahan hai?" " Yes sir, Ms Bose ek patient ko milne Noida area me jane wali thi aaj" Dev had asked tina to keep a tab on sonakshi's whereabouts. He knew what he was doing wasn't right, but when it came to Sonakshi he seldom gave a damn about right and wrong. Who knew his stalkerish tendencies would help him someday.

D: Ok tina, give me the address of this patient fast.

He took the address and hurried out of his office. He asked tina to alert the cops as well and the police car was following Dev's car as he made his way towards the address, all the while, remaining careful not to disconnect the call. He drove like a madman. The two most important women in his life were in danger.

Ishwari was shocked to see Sonakshi standing there. Nutrition, yahan, thought Ishwari.

S: How dare you? Tumhari himmat kaise hui inn pe haath uthane ki

K: Arre tu hai kaun chokri? Aur yahan kya kar rahi hai?

S: Mein koi bhi hun, but tum bohot jald behind bars jane wale ho.. kisi ko iss tarah pareshan karna is an offence

I: Sona beta, tum yahan kya kar rahi ho? Tum jao yahan se

S: Auntyji, I don't know yeh aadmi kaun hai aur aapko yeh kyu blackmail kar raha hai..but aap meri maa jaisi hai.. aur mein meri maa par kabhi koi aanch nai aane dungi

Ishwari stared at the girl before her, she couldn't believe it, Sonakshi, whom she had intentionally hurt so many times, was risking her life just for her. She felt ashamed of her behaviour towards her

K: Arre O chokri, tu jaanti nahi mein kaun hun.. chal chup chap yahan se chali jaa warna Ishwari k sath sath tujhe bhi nai chhodunga..

Saying so, he removed a gun. Both Ishwari and Sona got scared looking at the gun in his hand. Immediately, they both reached out to protect each other.

K: Waah Waah kya pyaar hai.. Ishwari, tumne ek aur beti paal li aur mujhe bataya bhi nahi? Lagta hai Dev ki tarah yeh bhi tumhe pujti hai..

Dev's heartbeat was increasing with every passing second as heard the conversation between Khatri, Sona and Ishwari. He drove furiously without caring about the traffic and signals. Two police cars were following him and it helped clear some of the traffic. He couldn't bear to think what he would do if anything happened to either of them. He prayed to a God he didn't believe in for the safety of his mom and the woman he loved.

Sonakshi knew she had to get Ishwari and herself out of here. This guy was a lunatic. She had to act fast. She tried to deal with him tactfully.

S: Dekhiye Mr, aap shaant ho jaiye.. Hume maar kar aapko kya milega.. Agar auntyji ko kuch bhi hua toh Dev aapko zinda nai chhodege

K: Lagta hai tu kafi achese jaanti hai Dev ko.. woh kya karega aur kya nahin.. kahin tu woh doctorni toh nahin, jisse Dev pyaar karta hai.. Jiski wajah se woh itna pagla gaya hai k use samajh bhi nai aaya pichle ek mahine se mein use follow kar raha hun.. uska pura schedule jaan chukka hun mein.. ek baar toh woh mere haath se bach gaya.. iss baar nahin

Both Ishwari and Sonakshi's worries increased ten folds when he said he was following Dev.. Ishwari knew Khatri was dangerous, but this time he was pure evil.. he wanted to hurt her family..

K: Tune toh yahan aake mera kaam aur bhi aasan kar diya.. ab mujhe ek sath Dev Dixit ki dono sabse khaas cheezon ko mitane ka mauka mil gaya.. uski dil aur dhadkan dono mit jayegi..

Dev was driving frantically. He was going to kill khatri. He felt pure rage. He was driving with full speed when he saw Sonakshi's scooty fallen on the sidewalk, and also his car at a short distance from there. He immediately screeched the brakes and got down. He yelled Sonakshi's name, but there was no response. He called out for his maa, but to no avail. The police jeeps reached there as well. The inspector instructed his teams to search the area. Dev saw an abandoned godown at a distance and he and the inspector ran towards it, followed by a team of policemen.

Khatri heard the police sirens and got nervous. He knew he was doomed if the police caught him.

 "Tum dono me se kisne police ko bulane ki himmat ki?" he asked, pointing the gun towards them.

Ishwari made sonakshi stand behind her, " Khabar dar jo sona ko kuch bhi kiya toh"

K: Ishwari tu bilkul nai badli, ab bhi wohi sherni hai jaisi 20 saal pehle thi

While Ishwari and Khatri were busy yelling at each other, Sonakshi noticed a rock lying at a short distance from them. She quickly made sure Khatri was focusing on Ishwari and made a mad dash towards it. She threw the rock at Khatri's head and yelled, " Auntyji bhagiye.." as khatri fell towards the ground. She took Ishwari's hand and started running.

Dev heard Khatri's scream and came running in that direction followed by the police who were a few steps behind. He saw sonakshi and Ishwari . Ishwari was running towards Dev when Sonakshi noticed Khatri was gaining consciousness. Khatri knew he was going to get caught. He decided he would not go behind bars before killing Ishwari. He fired the gun in Ishwari's direction but sonakshi saw him and pushed Ishwari out of the way, Sonakshi tried to bend down to avoid the impact but the bullet hurt her instead of Ishwari.

D: SONAKSHI!!!

The ground slipped beneath Dev's feet. His sonakshi, his sunshine, the person who was his home fell to the ground as he reached out his arms to somehow stop the horror story that was playing out before him. He felt as if he was in his worst nightmare and all he wanted to do was wake up. But this wasn't a nightmare. This was reality. And the reality was that the woman he loved had literally taken a bullet for his mom. He rushed to sonakshi's side and took her head in his lap.

D: Sona? Sona?!! Open your eyes damnit. Sonakshi!!

Everything seemed hazy as she tried to open her eyes. She moaned, struggling to open them. Sona knew someone was trying to talk to her, but she couldn't put her thoughts together well enough to speak. What had happened? She tried to go back, to even five seconds before, but it was all blank. She remembered the man trying to fire at Ishwari and then.. nothing. She could smell something. There was an odor that was permeating through the air. What was it? It was a coppery, tangy smell. She suddenly felt a stabbing sensation in her back and chest. She slowly dragged her hand down to her waist, and when she pulled back, it was covered in a dark, shiny liquid.

It was her blood.

Sonakshi started to drift off again. She was a doctor, she knew what all this blood on her hand meant. She had an hour, maybe a little longer.

She wasn't going to make it.

Sonakshi wanted to protest; she wanted to open her mouth and yell. This wasn't fair, she was still so young. She had meant to do so much more! She had never seen Niagra falls, or visited the great wall of China. She hadn't married Dev.

Dev. There was so much that they hadn't had a chance to do. Sonakshi's scattered thoughts wondered if he had known how much she wanted to be his wife. How much she had wanted forever' with him. She had never had children, and she wanted them, so badly. She wanted to see them grow old, and marry themselves.

She wanted to open her mouth and yell at the unfairness of it all, but she could not. She could not, for the darkness was beckoning her. It was calling her name, just as surely as if it knew her. She was not long for this world; she knew that.

" Just hold on!"

But it was too late.         

The darkness was calling.

She could get just one word out of her mouth.

"Dev"

Author's note: Ooops, Cliffhanger!! What's gonna happen? Will Dev be able to save sonakshi? Or will he lose her forever? I sound like a lame news anchor.. lol.. Stay tuned guys.. Last part coming soon..
