zindagi ka naam dosti

Chotu, Shree and Riya are talking amongst each other, trying to decide something.

"Okay guys, main hi puchhti hu." Riya says rolling her eyes.

"You're the best Rii!" Shree blows flying kisses to her.

She shook her head and walked into the lions' chamber while the other two followed. 

She cleared her throat, "Sir,"

"Haan Riya?" Sameer looked at the trio, "Bolo."

"Sir, I wanted to ask if we could take a -" she gulped and said quickly, "half day break?"

Sameer looked at them again and at Arjun this time, who was smirking.

"Kis khushi mein?" 

"Sir wo aaj friendship day hai na..." Shree said with puppy eyes.

"Aur Sunday bhi." Chotu added.

"Sir humne apna sab kaam khatam kar liya hai." Riya said looking the the two with hopeful eyes.

"Thik hai, jao. But keep your phone's on, if there's any case, you'll have to report back ASAP." Sameer commanded.

"Okay sir. Thank you sir." The trio said in unison and rushed out. 

Sameer shook his head at their antics. He looked at Arjun, his long lost friend best friend. "Happy Friendship Day, Rawte."

"Ye unko wish kiya jata hai jo hamare dost ho. Tum mujhe kyu keh rahe ho?"

"Dost to hum bhi the na."

"The." Arjun repeated him.

"Maine dosti nahi todi Rawte, tumne hi sab ko apne aap se dur kar diya."

Arjun looked in his eyes, "Kisi aur ko khone ki himmat nahi thi mujh mein... Aur kya karta?" He mumbled and walked out. 

Sameer felt a punch in his guts, both of them were equally responsible for their strained relationship. At least he tried, or did he.

Chotu, Shree and Riya were in the parking lot. 

"Hum kahan jaa rahe hai?" Riya asked. 

"Decide nahi kiya."

"Chowpatty." Chotu said excitedly.

"Wo khana hygienic nahi hota Chotu, mujhe bimar nahi padna."

"To hum kha lenge, tum hume dekh ke pet bhar lena."

"Yahi hai tumhari dosti?" Riya pouted.

"Are ek naya restaurant khula hai, wahan chalte hai. Chowpatty ke saamne hi hai. Tum dono apni marki ka kha lena, chalo." Shree made truce. 

"Thik hai." 

The trio left for the restaurant.

"Chotu" Shree poked his arm, "Tujhe yaad hai jab Ri pehli baar office aayi thi, kaise shaant aur seedhi-saadhi thi? Ab dekho kya se kya ho gaya."

"Haan re! Ye sab Arjun sir ka kamaal hai." Chotu teased.

Riya slapped her head, "Tum dono phir shuru ho gaye. Kuch aur baat kare please."

"Thik hai thik hai, naraaz mat ho. Hum to bas aise hi."

"Club chale? Do-teen shots lagayenge aur mast party ekdum jhakaas!" Riya said excitedly.

"Ye huyi na baat! Chalo!"

Trio had some food and left for a club. They had a few shots and danced their heart out.

"Yaar kitne time baad inta enjoy kiya hai. Mazaa aa gaya!"

"Haan yaar sachhi. Hum logo ko aur chutti milni chahiye. Jab dekho Sadu aur Khadoos kaam kaam karte rehte hai."

"Waise tum logo ko pata hai ki ye dono kisi zamane me besties hote the?" Riya said yawning.

"Tumhe kya lagta hai Shree... Ye log hamari tarah maza karte honge ya aise hi boring rahe honge?"

"Unn dono ki shakal dekh ke lagta nahi hai ki fun-loving ho sakte hai lekin pata nahi... Unki jawani kya karte huye guzro hai!" Shree laughed.

"Keh to aise rahe ho jaise buddhe ho gaye hai dono." Riya defended her seniors.

"Ri... tu na ye gaana seekh le, main kya karu Raam mujhe buddha mil gaya!" Chotu burst out laughing.

Riya smacked his arm, "Chup kar Chotu."

"Kaash hume pata chal pata ki ye dono College me kaise the."

"Tu dhund ke nikal na kuch Research Specialist."

"Aise personal information kahan se lau? Kuch bhi Shree!"

"Kyu.. tu to kehti hai na Aurat ki kabiliyat par kabhi shaq nahi karna chahiye, phir dhund ke laa kuch secret."

"Chalo dhundte hai." Chotu said getting up.

"Kahan?"

"Kyu na hum unn logo ko truth serum de aur unse hi puchhe?" Chotu gave an idea.

Shree smacked his head, "Marwayega kya Chotu? Kuch to dhang ka idea de."

Sameer was sitting in his room, arranging his stuff when he came across a wooden box, his mind wandered down the memory lane. 

Second year of Bachelors' Programme.

"Happy Friendship Day Arjun!" He embraced him lovingly.

"Happy Friendship Day Sam! Dekh main kya laaya hu tere liye!" Arjun gave him the wooden box. 

Sameer opened the box, it had a music-box that played the melody of his favourite song. 

There was a letter with it. 

Sameer started reading it.

Sameer placed the letter back in the box. He contemplated for a while. He picked the letter and drove off to Arjun's Lodge-room.

Arjun opened the door, "Kya hua Rathore? Kuch kaam tha to phone kar dete."

Sameer walked inside ignoring his questions. 

"Rathore?" Arjun raised his brow.

Sameer placed the letter in his hand. Arjun read it, by the time he finished reading it, his eyes watered. 

"Arjun Suryakant Rawte, kisi zamane mein humne ek dusre se vaada kiya tha ki chaahe kuch bhi ho jaye, hamari dosti kabhi nahi tootegi. Tum ye kaise kar sakte ho mere saath? Jawab do!"

Arjun looked in his eyes for a moment and hugged him. Sameer hesitated for a moment but hugged him back. 

"I'm sorry Rathore, main darr gaya tha. Tujhe khona nahi chahta tha."

"Rawte, tumne bahot badi galti kar di. Waise galti meri bhi hai ki maine tumhe samajhne ki jagah tumse gussa hokar durr jana sahi samjha."

"Kaash hum peeche jaakar apni ki huyi galtiyan sudhar paate."

"Past ka to pata nahi lekin present me wo cheez agar thik karna chaho to hi sakta hai. Koi rishta toot jaaye to gaanth reh jati hai lekin joda to phir bhi jaa sakta hai."

Arjun looked at his friend again, "Ab mujhe thappad bhi maarne wale ho kya?"

"Nahi, kootne wala hu achhe se." Sameer punched Arjun's arm and they engaged into a playful duel.

Chotu, Shree and Riya were sitting at Chotu's house, chatting and teasing each other. 

"Yaar, ye history dhundne wala kaam nahi kar rahi main. Wo hamare seniors hai, agar unhe pata chal gaya ki hum unki details nikal rahe hai to bahot daant padegi." 

"Kuch nahi hoga."

"Tum dono karo, main ghar jaa rahi hu."

"Ri! Kya yaar... Mazaa aa raha tha na... Dekh na kitni achhi photos mile hai hume. Waise ye saare photos ka collage bana kar gift kare kya?"

"Shree! Pagal ho gaye ho? Dismiss kar denge Akdu aur Sadu tumhe."

"Shree, tune suna... Isne Arjun sir ko Akdu bola!"

"Main jaa rahi hu. Bye." Riya started walking out. 

Chotu and Shree looked at each other and then rushed to her. Chotu picked her up and brought back on the couch. Both attacked her with pillows and trio engaged into a pillow fight.
