Chapter 2) Chaos

For Prafulla, it was shocking to see Raavi being so happy with the alliance. She always knew that Raavi loves that family but one thing she was sure about was that Raavi hates Shiva. He was a hooligan for her and Prafulla couldn’t agree more with her. 

“I will go clean up a little.” Raavi said and left the room in a hurry with a smile on her face.

Prafulla was trying to make sense of everything when she heard Dhara talking. 

“Maami, we need to start the preparations soon. Maa wants the marriage to happen as early as possible. For her, Dev and Shiva’s marriage is something very important.”

“Shiva, he agreed for the marriage too.” Maami asked.

“He won’t have any problem. I know my Shiva, and I am also aware that what I am doing is right for him. That boy is my khara sona mammi, you do not worry.” Dhara held Mammi’s hand to assure her.

“But Dhara, Shiva hates me, he hates Raavi too from what I can see.” Prafulla said.

“Maami, their childhood frolics have never made sense to me but I know what kind of a person Shiva is. He will always be there to be the anchor in Raavi’s life whenever she is lost just like every time when they were kids and he used to bash anyone who used to irritate her saying ‘only I can bug her, not you!’ And Raavi, on the other hand, will be the calm to the storm that Shiva is.”

It was all making sense to Prafulla that Shiva and Raavi are polar opposites of each other yet they fit perfectly together. But something was not sitting right with her, she felt like she needed to talk to Raavi.

Prafulla went to Raavi’s room to have a little talk with her. Prafulla was greedy and selfish but she loves both Anita and Raavi with all her heart. She wanted to be sure that Raavi is happy with the arrangement.

When she entered the room, she saw Raavi sitting in front of the mirror. 

“You are happy no?” She asked Raavi.

“Of course Maasi. I can’t take off the smile plastered on my face. I am so happy that in spite of the history, everyone is so keen on our marriage.” Prafulla felt relaxed hearing her say that. Raavi’s mausapaa also entered the room and stood next to Prafulla.

“They are keen on making it a quick affair because of Suman ben’s health. I told them about your admission in the MCom programme. They are fine with you continuing your studies after marriage also. If you are fine, we can go ahead?”

“Go ahead mausapaa!!! if I were to marry him today, I would have done that.”

Prafulla and her husband heaved a sigh of relief that Raavi is going into the Pandya family. They will do everything in their power to give her a dream wedding, it doesn’t matter how intimate or small it is.

Meanwhile, Gautam was worried about everything.

“Dhara, are you sure what we are doing is right?”

“Yes, Gaumbi. I know him. Shiva’s eyes have always shown a different side of him which his actions have not.”

“But I still feel we should talk to him. It is their whole life after all.”

“Whose life, Gaumbi?” Shiva asked when he entered the house.

Dhara’s face lightened up the moment she saw Shiva. Though she was worried about his reaction but she knew he will agree to the alliance. After all, she knows her sons better than anyone.

“We went to Janardan Seth’s house and fixed Dev and Rishita’s alliance. Also…” Dhara took a pause before continuing.

Shiva asked her “also, what Bhabhi?”

“We have fixed your marriage too.”

Shiva did not know how to react. He thought for a moment that she was joking but when he realised they were serious, he simply looked at her dumbstruck.

“My marriage. To a girl.”

“Shiva. What do you mean?” Gautam asked Shiva.

“I mean you know the kind of person I am. Which girl in her sane mind would be willing to marry someone like me? I have anger issues, I am not very well- qualified and you know how I look.”

Dhara did not agree with anything he said. Her eyes were filled with tears hearing her Shiva demeaning himself.

“A girl who fits the missing piece in the puzzle of your life. A girl who is ice to the raging fire you are. A girl who knows you inside out.”

“Does that girl have a name, bhabhi?” Shiva was curious now.

“Raavi.”

Shiva was surprised hearing that name coming out of her mouth.

“You know what all the elders agree to this alliance. We will start the preparations soon.” She took a pause and then looked at Shiva and asked him to say something.

“Why are you doing this? I cannot marry her. She is not the ice to my fire, she is someone who forces me to become the fire.”

“Shiva, I know you and I know her. She will be perfect for you. I know I cannot force you for anything but-“

“Bhabhi, please. I have respected you always. But I cannot do it.”

With that, Shiva left the room.

PS. Though this chapter is small but it shows the bond between Dhara- Shiva and Prafulla-Raavi. Hope it was not over the top, I tried my best to keep it realistic. Please let me know how you felt about it…
