PART 3(A)
The crew members of his flying team were ectastic to say the least, when once in the whole time of working together,Captain Arnav Singh Raizada or ASR as they addressed him as personally invited them for dinner that night.
If anyone asked them about their opinion about him, then the words in accord of sincere, hardworking, honest and dedicated would fall as his abjectives on their own.He has climbed the top of ladder in his career in such a short time and was always strictly professional in all his dealings.
His timings were impeccable, nodoubt he held the record of most Intime flights takeoffs and landings and what intrigued people working in the same proxities with him was his obvious and adamant indifference to all the charms and perks of his profession.
He was a devilishly handsome pilot on whom from girls swooned over but he was completely oblivious to all the female attention. He never as much as looked at a woman unless it was related to its work, always giving the rise to talks that his heart has already found its destination.
No one had a clue about his personal life even the people with whom he were friends with.Though he has always been hideous to the concerns of his team mates, always filling in for them so that they can spend quality time with their families.
Arnav was relaxing in the lounge chair as his gaze wavered to his co pilot Michael who led his wife to the dance floor. He saw the much in love couple danced the night out, feeling enormously happy for them.He rememebered how 6 months back,Michael has been so disturbed regarding his relationship and it has been him who has suggested him to propose his long time girlfriend and solemnise it formally.
Now here they were happily married, the contenteness and the feeling of being one clearly viable in their stance.
Isn't that what everyone really wanted,a place to solely belonged to,the feeling of being home, the innate peace that he felt only with Khushi. But now he was far away from it as he pulled out Khushi's book from his leather jacket trying to feel her presence with her words.
He was never into parties and clubbing but today after so long he has wanted to celebrate because Khushi's first book has not only been acclaimed critically but was on its verge of becoming an bestseller. He shuffled a laugh as her perplexed face took over his senses.
He could so imagine her being bewildered by all these. He wanted to be there to see all the myriad of emotions adoring her beautiful face while he broke this news to her.Nodoubt she has been informed about it by her brother or father but he knew her better.
She will be least concerned about the figures the book was garnering.A part of him was scared because he wanted Khushi to continue writing. He felt like letting out a mirthless laugh at the play of destiny. He had thought he would demand her writing debue as a wedding gift and has ended up asking for it as the last thing before parting.
The first time, she has recited her first poem to him,he has known that it was her real calling. But stubborn,as she was and her apprehensiveness at her own talent has never let her take that big jump.Inspite of the superhuman efforts put by him,she hasn't relented and thus he has decided to demand it as his wedding gift which she wouldn't be able to deny.
And Now he was here having read and reread each poem penned down in the book that he has lost the count of it.His Khushi was far away from all the worldly charms. She followed her heart, wasn't abashed about any of her choices, living life to the fullest. The aura around her screamed innocence. His thoughts reeling back to the time when he has met her first time.
He had been there for his routine checkup.Having no one to lean back on,he has long ago learned to be self dependent .
There he has seen her the first time.He has been about to exit when his eyes has caught the sight of a girl, standing on the threshold of stairs, swaying on her step. Her eyes closing due to dizzying and her hands trying catch on the railing for support.
The instinctive protectiveness that he has felt towards the girl has made him run to her and caught her in his arms.Escorting her to the nearby bench,he had made her drink water.Time has ceased to stop when she has opened her eyes and he has stared into those hazel orbs.
A moment later,he has heard the most melodious voice ever thanking him for his help. She has went on informing that she was here to donate blood voluntarily and has skipped breakfast because she was running late and thus due to weakness she has had a fainting spell reasserting that she would be fine after eating something sensing his cautious gaze.
Somehow seeing her in that vulnerable condition has restricted him to leave her alone and thus for second time in a day,he has surprised himself when he had walked off only to return with a sandwich and juice for her.
Her eyes hadn't been able to hide the sudden surprise at his gesture and he hadn't been able to say a word. She has politely refused but then have accepted it seeing he hadn't moved from his position. He has waited until she finished and when he has seen the color rising her face,he has left wordlessly.
That night everytime he would close his eyes,a pair of hazel orbs would flash in front of him evading his sleep. He hadn't even ask her name, well he didn't need to anyways,he has tried telling himself that.Though,he couldn't deny the strange kind of warmness that he has felt when he has seen something akin to admiration for him in her eyes.
In another part of the city Khushi Gupta laid wide awake in her bed,her mind on an overdrive regarding the happenings of the day.Not only has he saved her from falling but he has been courteous enough to wait around till she felt fine.Such an act of kindness by a stranger was nodoubt overwhelming for her but what disturbed her was that he hadn't felt like a stranger to her.
The briefest of moment when his eyes has held hers captive, they have seemed to cast a spell around her.Whatelse could have let her to blurt out everything to a person she hadn't even seen before today. To her,it has felt like an explanation and Khushi Gupta didn't give explanations to anyone.
Moreover, she hadn't even thanked him properly and thus lost in thoughts of that stranger with the hope of meeting him again, she has fallen asleep that night.
After three months,Khushi stepped out of the chamber after donating blood waiting for that stranger to show up.As time passed, she felt disappointment creeping in along with the foolishness of expecting him here again. She has been about to move ahead when she felt his presence.
Arnav Singh Raizada stood in the corridor of Red Cross Society defying all the logics his brains has been putting up last night or precisely since the day he has met her.He was about to make a move to the next floor assuming to find her there when as if pulled by an unknown force,he turned and there she was dressed in yellow churidar looking like a blooming sunflower.
Khushi turned the exact moment he did as they stared at each other but there wasn't a hint of surprise in either of their eyes as being here was the most expected thing to do.They both moved towards each other at the sametime meeting halfway ,struggling with words everytime they opened their mouth only to end up speaking together.
While Khushi started to thank him for the other day,he has asked whether she was fine as they both erupted into pools of laughter at the strange familiarity of their sitiuation. The ice broke between them and the rest started falling into place to his own.
Khushi sat on the swing staring at the paper in her hands. The December air was cold but to Khushi, the coldness she felt in her heart was much more graver than the weather. She caressed the paper with her dainty fingers as if trying to caress the features of the person who has penned down the contents of it.
It was impossible to make out a single world as the ink was smudged with her tears.Whenever she would look at it,she wasn't able to keep her tears at bay as they cascaded down mercilessly. How a day that has brought so much happiness with it has ended up drewing them apart.
Each and every word written on the piece of paper was engraved in her heart. The set of instructions by Arnav Singh Raizada which she was expected to follow. In someother day and time, such a thing would have resulted in an heavy argument between the two but that day Khushi has relentlessly agreed to his each word.
Her patience was wearing off with each passing day.Every moment spent apart from him was plaguing her inside out.If he would have demanded her life, she would have happily given it without battling an eyelid. It could have been better than dieing a little every single day without him.
Khushi was never known to be patient but she has waited all these years. His love has made her capable enough for it.At times when she felt like, she can't go any longer, she would steel herself to go on,holding onto his beliefs on them and their love.
The ring was glinting in the moonlight, the paper in her hands and her heart aching for its possessor. She has read about LOVE in novels, seen in films, heard about it from people but she has understood its true meaning when Arnav has come into her life.
Falling in love with him was inevitable. It was meant to be,they were meant to be.It wasn't a kind of love that could be altered with the traces of time and place. It was an all encompassing love that no distance could diminish rather it has only grown stronger with the passage of time.
