Part Five

The next morning the girls came to the office early and were seated in the canteen. Tension was visible on their faces, particularly on Taani's face. Rey had just walked off after hearing fake accusations and Taani was hell worried for his reaction. She didn't want him to hate her for a mistake she didn't commit.

"Taani relax, sab theek hojayega" Sharon tried to calm her.

"I hope so. I texted him yesterday night and he hasn't replied to it" Taani was worried.

"Taani calm down" said Simmi.

They spotted Swayam and Nil coming towards the canteen. They both were joyful and were laughing.

"Rey kahan hai?" asked Sharon.

"Voh aa jayega. Saala sube se phone bhi nahi utha raha" said Swayam.

"Aane do usse batate hai" Nil smirked.

"You two fine? Kal jo bhi hus uske baad bhi tum dono itne chilled out kaise?" asked Simmi.

"Usme tensed hone wali kya baat thi?" asked Nil.

"Haan agar Rey vahan se nahi jaata toh hum tensed hote" Swayam said with a smile.

"Kal jo kuch hua uska tumhe koi farak nahi pada?" Taani asked baffled by seeing them relaxed.

Hearing Taani's voice both were shocked. Anyone could say that she had cried for long. Her voice had become sore due to crying.

"Taani were you crying because of yesterday?" Swayam eyed her.

Taani nodded in yes.

"What!" exclaimed Nil.

"Taani trust me, Rey ne Rohan ki baton ko seriously nahi liya hai" Swayam tried to make her understand.

"Tum yeh kaise keh sakte ho?" Taani asked back.

"As jo kal hua voh scene pehle bhi ho chuka hai. Aur tabse Rey hasn't spoken to Rohan" said Swayam.

"He trusts you two so vo tumpe question nahi karega. Rey hardly knows me, so he might be thinking ki mere kuch galath intentions hai" Taani was sad by now.

Everyone was quietly seated in the canteen. After sometime they spotted Rey going towards the cabin. They saw it was time to start working and they too headed there. Swayam and Nil felt something odd about his behavior but they shrugged off the thought and went to work.

Rey neither greeted them when they came in nor did he give a smile to them. He was behaving oddly. Whenever anyone of them tried to approach him to talk he behaved like he was too engrossed in work. While working on some data sheet he was stuck at a point. He was going to ask Swayam or Nil but retreated back. He asked his other colleague but failed to get any answer to his query.

"Need help?" Taani approached him.

Rey saw her eyes and her pale face. He understood that she has cried a lot. He felt bad seeing her dull eyes. Rey was constantly staring at her when she spoke again.

"Rey tumhe help chahiye?"

"Yeh mein baadmein kar lunga" he got up and went out of the room.

Taani sat back on her chair and fresh tears came up in her eyes. Sharon hugged her and Simmi was caressing her.

"Rey itna ajeeb kyun behave kar raha hai?" wondered Swayam.

"Because usne uss Rohan ki baat ko sach maan liya hai" snapped Sharon.

"That's not at all possible. Kuch dusri baat hai and there's only one way to find out.." Nil discussed the whole plan along with them and they left to have lunch.

They didn't feel like having food so they put their plan to action. They saw Rey sitting alone in the canteen with a sandwich. He hadn't touched it. Rey was sitting on a table which was near to the exit door. Nil was at the door when Sharon approached running towards him.

"Sharon, all well? Tum bhaag kyun rahi ho?" asked Nil.

"Swayam..terrace.." she sounded terrified.

Just by hearing the two words Rey got up and ran to the terrace. The others followed him up. On reaching the terrace Rey searched everywhere but didn't find Swayam.

"Kise dhund rahe ho?" asked Swayam entering the terrace followed by others.

"Voh dad ne kaha the ki terrace pe kuch samaan check karne toh isiliye mein yahan aaya." Rey understood that he fell prey to their plan and made an excuse.

"Mila samaan?" asked Nil.

"Haan..voh..actually nahi mila, so dad ko batake aata hoon" Rey started walking to the exit.

"Rey apne aap se toh jhut mat bol" Swayam's voice made him stop.

"Rey.." Taani sniffed and he immediately turned around.

"Taani please don't cry. Mujhe aur guilty mat feel karvao" Rey said while looking down.

Taani shot a look at him after hearing what he said. Swayam and Nil came forward and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry guys" Rey broke down.

"Tu kyun sorry bol raha hai?" asked Swayam.

"Exactly sorry toh Rohan ko hona chahiye" said Nil.

"Rohan ko meine invite kiya tha. But mujhe laga ki he won't repeat it again. Meri wajah se usne tum sab ki insult ki. Tum dono ne toh yeh bohot baar suna tha so I know it didn't affect you but Taani.." Rey trailed off.

Rey walked towards Taani and said, "I'm sorry Taani. Ho sake toh mujhe maaf kar dena."

"Tum mujhse gussa nahi ho?" Taani asked making him confused.

"Mein tumpe gussa.. tumhe yeh toh nahi lag raha ki meine Rohan ki baton ko seriously le liya?" Rey held her by her shoulders and asked her.

She just lowered her head and nodded a yes. He immediately pulled her into a hug. He felt bad in fact worst to make her cry for a mistake that she didn't even commit. He separated from the hug and wiped away her tears.

"Tum mujhe itna bhi nahi samajh payi?" His question left Taani as well as others baffled. Swayam and Nil understood that Rey had somewhere started developing feelings for her. They smiled knowingly at each other but chose to keep quiet.

"Mein kya samjhu? Wahan voh Rohan tumhare friends ki insult kar raha tha aur tum kuch bol nahi rahe the. Then he insulted me, mujhpe jhute ilzaam lagaye still you kept quiet and on top of that you just walked off! Mein iss sab se kya samjhu!" Taani's frustration from the night came out. She was frustrated as Rey, who without listening to any explanation, had just walked off.

"Agar mein wahan rukh jata toh mein apne aap ko nahi rok pata!" He said softly in a painful tone but the impact of his words was felt by all.

Swayam placed his hand on Rey shoulders and spoke, "agar tum chaho toh we'll back off from the scholarship."

"No! Tu pagal ho gaya hai kya? I need you both in this. But I don't want to be this selfish ki apne fayde ke liye tum log voh sab baate sunte rahe!" He said facing Swayam and Nil.

Simmi felt that there is some underlying story which they ought to know to understand whatever happened the night before. She asked, "Rey what did you mean by selfish? Aur yeh Rohan hai kaun?"

Rey remained quiet so Swayam and Nil decided to narrate them the entire story.

"Rohan Rey ka cousin hai. Yeh dono kuch saal pehle tak kaafi close the. Abh bhi Rey usse utna hi lagav rakhta hai but.." Swayam took a deep breath.

Nil continued, "Rohan is a really nice guy, but was unfortunate to get a few people in his life who spoiled his life completely. Voh log jinko voh apne dost samajhta tha, they used him for his power and money."

"Rohan ko unke wajah se jail hote hote reh gayi as Rey ko unke plans ke bare mein pata chal gaya tha and so he saved Rohan from them." said Swayam.

"But why was he behaving so weird? I mean Rey ne uski help ki aur voh aisa behave kar raha tha?" Sharon asked as she was still not getting the matter.

"Pyaar" Rey said all of a sudden and everyone looked his direction. He continued, "pyaar insaan ko pagal bana deta hai. Rohan jis ladki se pyaar karta tha voh bhi iss sab mein shaamil thi. He couldn't handle the betrayal and was severly traumatised. He has still not recovered aur usse lagta hai ki har insaan aisa hi hota hai. Isiliye kal usne Taani ke baare mein.." He left the sentence incomplete and they understood the matter.

"I'm really sorry. I just wanted to share my joy with him but.." He looked guilty and Taani didn't know why but she didn't like the look on his face.

"Rey you don't need to say sorry. You didn't do anything wrong." She caressed his cheeks.

He felt relieved feeling her touch. The others present there felt sparks between them. Just to get them out of their dreamland, Swayam spoke.

"Guys don't you think hume chalna chahiye? Break kabki khatam hogayi hai"

They came back to their desks.

"Do you like Taani?" Swayam asked Rey surprising him with the sudden question.

"Tumhare kehne ka matlab kya hai?" Rey asked back hoping no one else heard it and was happy to see others engrossed in work.

"Mujhe answer mil gaya!" Swayam commented making Rey smile.

It was confirmed that Rey had started to like Taani. Now Swayam had to just find out about her feelings and get these two together.
