[NOCOPY]
Hey All,
I’m relatively new to this forum wrt posts. However as a silent member for a while I have been reading such amazing stories that have been put up here. I’m an avid reader and love fiction, but have not been able to place myself on the other side of the table. I write poems, but this happens to be my first attempt at story writing on any public platform. I respect the time you are investing in reading this piece and I sincerely hope that i dont disappoint for a first timer. Please share your views and I shall continue basis your opinion.
PS - I’m very open to criticism. Except for rotten tomatoes 🤣🤣 please feel free to comment candidly.
Oh and I haven’t proof read them. Apologies for the grammatical errors 🙈
TIA
Story so far
Virat was shot during a mission, and Sai was by his side at the hospital, taking care of him while he recovered. They reconciled and Sai returned to Chavan Niwas. Though she was not welcomed whole heartedly, but nobody dared to object against Virat' strong stand. Everything was back to old days, including the deal marriage. Except that it was Sai who is holding true to the deal. Virat has become extra caring and sensitive to everything that concerns Sai, but he has not been able to express his true feelings nor clear his equation with Pakhi to Sai. He still feels guilty for his actions and is unable to forgive himself. He is waiting for Sai to start trusting and believing in him again. Sai on the other hand has started feeling extremely uncomfortable with Pakhi's presence around Virat, but she has still not been able to place her strong feelings. She is yet to come to terms and accept that her feelings towards Virat has changed and there is more to it than she dares to feel.
Virat and Sai's room
It's past midnight and Virat was taking a stroll on the terrace. Sai is studying in her room or rather pretending it. Her mind is occupied with thoughts that Virat and Pakhi might be having their late night conversations and spending time together. She just can't stop thinking about them nor is she able to concentrate on her studies. She is constantly looking at the wall clock and the door. Virat on the other hand did not want to disturb Sai. He knew if he stayed in the room he would not be able to stop himself and would end up distracting her with some conversation or end up arguing on some trivial matter. Hence he had decided to leave her alone while he took a stroll on the terrace.
Virat enters and Sai quickly averts her eyes from the door and pretends to be deeply focussed on her studies.
Virat - Sai it's quite late. You should get some sleep now. It's a weekday and you will have to wake up on time for college.
Sai - Yes Virat Sir. Just 5 more minutes. You can go ahead an sleep.
She is restless and fidgety and wants to confirm if he was with Pakhi all this while. Virat senses that something is bothering her and gets worried.
Virat - Is everything alright Sai? Did anyone say anything to you? Did something happen?
Sai - Nope. I'm fine. I'm so sleepy.
She gets up and fakes a yawn to avoid further probing by her husband. They build up their pillow wall and pretend to sleep. But sleep is far from their eyes, both lost in their own thoughts.
Next morning
Pakhi had followed Virat to terrace the previous night and he had made it very clear to her that he did not wish to be with her alone at that hour. He had asked her to leave him alone and she had left disappointed.
Pakhi sees Virat coming down for breakfast. Sensing an opportunity and knowing that she has Sai as an audience, she casually walks upto him.
Pakhi - Virat did you find the pictures from our Yoga camp? I told you last night that Sneha, that girl we met at the camp was asking for it (stressing on the word "last night").
Virat - I haven't had the time to check Pakhi
Pakhi - Oh ok. Send them to me when you have time. Now sit down and have breakfast. Sai has to leave for college, so let me serve you. You must be getting late for work
Virat looks at Sai who is serving food to the others. But the anger building on her face doesn't go unnoticed by him
Sai - Aai, I'm getting late for college. I'm leaving.. bye
Ashwini - Baada.. have your breakfast. You shouldn't leave home empty stomach.
She rolls up a flat stuffed bread and hands it to her. Sai takes it not wanting to hurt her Aai and leaves without giving a second glance to Virat. He is left unsettled by her sudden exit.
Evening
Sai is back from college early and she was having some fun time with Mohit, Bua and Aai. The trio had sensed the tension between Sai and Virat despite the love for each other evident in their eyes. They had been observing the two of them and had figured that things were still far from normal.
Aai - Sai, are you still angry with Virat? Have you still not forgiven him completely?
Sai - No Aai. There is nothing like that
Aai - I know you both love each other and we all can see it. Then what is bothering you so much?
Sai - There is nothing called as love between us Aai. This marriage is a deal and I will leave once I realise my Aaba's dream of becoming a doctor.
Aai - Why are you stopping yourself and building these walls around you only for Virat? We all can clearly see how you feel for him. Doesn't he trust you? Has he not been standing against the entire family for you? Has he not ensured that no one misbehaves or insults you since you returned. Atleast not in his presence.
Sai - Aai, I'm not denying anything that Virat Sir does and is doing for me. But that doesn't mean he loves me. You know that he has feelings for someone else
Mohit wanted to diffuse the tension and resolve things between his dada and vahini
Mohit - Vahini you don't know how Virat dada defended you against everyone after you left and he realised his mistakes. He was so upset and angry that he didn't spare anyone. Not even Kaku and Patralekha vahini
Seeing that Sai was taking the bait he continued
Mohit - You don't believe me? Let me recreate that scene and show you some of my acting skills. Bua will you play the part of Patralekha vahini
Bua - Do you really think that I'm like that Patralekha (she gives him an angry stare)
Mohit - Bua it's just to give a realistic feel to Vahini about what happened that day (gives Bua a wink and she gets the plan)
Bua - Virat do you even realise what tricks that Sai is playing with you. She wants to make you her puppet. She is just trying to get more attention from you by acting pricey.
Mohit - (Claps twice) You seem to have done PhD in Human Psychology. I'm amazed how well you have read Sai's mind and her intensions. (Claps again) I mean wow. As her husband I have not been able to know so much about her, but you seem to have figured her out perfectly.
Bua - Virat, you are insulting me. I'm only trying to protect you from that selfish girl, who only sees her interest in everything. You have done so much for her but she is so thankless. Instead of being grateful for all your favours, she took such a big step and put the entire family's reputation at stake. She is an arrogant, selfish and fake girl, who does not deserve your kindness
Mohit - Enough Patralekha! Not another word against Sai. Sai is my wife and I will not tolerate anyone insulting her, even in her absence. I don't even want you to utter her name. She is way too good for your sake
Sai is dumbfounded and has hers eyes popped out in disbelief.
Sai (to herself) - Virat Sir called her Patralekha? Did this really happen? Did he really say all these things.
Virat meanwhile had reached home and had directly gone to their room looking for his wife. She had abruptly left for college and all he wanted was to catch a glimpse of her and ensure she is fine. Not finding his wife in their room he had followed the noises coming from Bua's room. Sai was lost in her thoughts when Virat enters the room. The moment they see each other there is an unspoken emotion that passes, and they share an eye lock oblivious to the audience they had in the room.
