Prologue

ACP Virat Chavan had been shot during a dangerous mission. He was battling for his life but his thoughts were filled with his wife, his love..Sai. He had thrown her out of CN in a sheer state of misjudgement. She had left and sworn never to come back relieving him of his responsibilities and their relationship.

Sai was restless after she was informed about Virat’s condition. She had rushed to the hospital, but his family had stopped her, and denied her the right to be with her husband. 

But she was adamant, this was about her rights, rights as a wife. She had forced her way to meet Virat. Virat's face had lit up the moment he saw his wife. She had come to meet him, and that was all he had wished for all this while. She had been in his thoughts there entire time. Only her!

Sai had returned to CN with Virat. But she had made it apparent to Virat and his family that she had returned only to take care of her husband. This was her responsibility as his wife and she would never compromise with that. But she made it clear that she would leave once Virat recovered completely. Though doubtful, this had brought in some relief to everyone except Virat, Aai and Mohit...and hope for Pakhi. 

Virat had recovered and the day before he was supposed to join back work, Bhavani had questioned Sai of her intentions to leave. Virat had been furious. He had been making every effort all this while to stop Sai, but she had refused to budge. But Kaku's accusation had made things worse. Sai told her categorically that she was a woman of her promise and she would leave the next day. Virat had tried to intervene. He told his family that he will leave CN as well if Sai is not allowed to stay here. The family was in shock, but Sai was true to her word. She didn't want to separate Virat from his family. She told Virat that she will leave irrespective of whether his family accepts her or not. And she left the next day, leaving a few broken hearts, but many ecstatic ones behinds. Virat got a promotion along with a transfer a few days later and he too left CN.

Samrat had returned, a year after Virat left. Patralekha had refused to acknowledge their marriage even when Samrat was willing to give it a chance. 

They filed for divorce and Samrat moved to army quarters with Mansi. Bhavani had refused to let Patralekha leave CN faking serious illness. She was adamant, that Patralekha was now more a daughter to her and she couldn't bear to have her out of her sight as her happiness was now their responsibility. 

It had become awkward for Samrat to continue staying in CN with the impending divorce with Patralekha. But what was more discomforting was the changing equations of the other relationships. He knew things were not the same, there was deep virulence in the air of the house he once called home. And he missed his Shiva, despite everything, he still did. Maybe things would have been different, if he was around. Or if Sai had not left. He had not met her, but had heard so much about her. But they were such contrasting versions he couldn't clearly place his judgement on her. All this prompted him to leave CN and he took his Aai along with him. She was his responsibility and he didn't want her to suffer anymore in his absence.
