Chapter - 8

Sai had been missing since over 4 hours and Virat  had been unable to find any leads, as if she had disappeared into thin air. With every passing minute he was becoming frantic with the thought of the kind of danger Sai might be in, killing him. He cursed himself for agreeing to allow her to go to college before closing Jagtap’s chapter forever. That was a stupid move at his end and it could cost him his most precious. No, he thought to himself. He will not allow it, he will reach her before any harm comes to her. While Virat was out in his search, the Chavans were praying for Sai's safety back home. Though some did not express their concern openly, but their restlessness and actions indicated their worry and concern. Ashwini was inconsolable and all the attempts to pacify her were in vain.

Somewhere Unknown

Sai regained consciousness, and was completely disoriented. It took her a while to recall the incident when she was forcefully grabbed from behind. Despite vigorous attempts to kick and punch to free herself from the grip of her assaulter, she had failed. Post which she had no recollection. Now she was lying in the trunk of some vehicle with both her hands and feet tied up. She screamed and cried for help, but she wasn't even sure if anyone could even hear her. With no clue of where she was and where she was being taken, and with her fate uncertain at the hands of her tormentor, all she could do was pray for herself. But she didn't give up, and every time she felt tired she would mentally pull herself up, wiggle and try every possible way to free herself. There was one hope that kept her going.... Virat! She could vouch her life on him, she was sure he would find her.... It was only about how soon would he get to her!

She had lost track of time, with no idea about how long or where she was. She was engrossed in her thoughts planning her escape, when suddenly the vehicle came to a halt, and Sai hit her head against something due to the jerk. She was suddenly exposed to a torch light being flashed on her face and she squeezed her eyes shut, but before she even registered what was happening, she felt her feet knots being let loose. And she was mercilessly dragged out of the trunk by her arm into a dense forest area. There was not any possible way for her to recognise the location. She kept shouting and kicking at Jagtap, but he had a death grip on her and managed to evade all her blows. And this place seemed to be nowhere and with a pounding heart she realised that there was no audience around to hear her cries for help in this forest. She had now pinned all her hopes on Virat. She could have somehow managed to escape from Jagtap’s gold, but he had 3 of his henchmen who were close on their heals. Sai wanted to know what Jagtap planned to do with her, the motive behind her abduction and what he intended to achieve out of it. But most importantly she had to buy time, for herself and for Virat to find her. So she decided to start of the conversation, to get more information, and simultaneously divert his attention.

Sai - Why are you doing this to me? What do you want from me?

Jagtap only let out a devlish laugh. But Sai decided she needed to keep probing to break through

Sai - You think you will be able to escape. You know my husband will find us, he had done it before, he will do it again. And this time you will not be spared

That challenge kind of hit the a note and he suddenly turned around and grabbed her by her hair. Sai cried out at the excruciating pain that hit her when he threw her roughly on the  ground and she hit her head against an object..something like a rock. She felt her head, and even though she could barely see, her hand felt something dripping down and she realised she was bleeding. But Jagtap didn't stop there, he bent down and tightly holding her jaw he made her face him.

Jagtap - I want him to find me! (He gave an evil smirk) Let him follow you here, and that will be his end. I will have my revenge. You both are responsible for my miseries, and now I will ensure that you pay for it. Let's see who wins this cat and mouse game. I want to know the calibre of that ACP, and what he will do to save his wife.

With that he let out another growling laugh and pulled Sai up on her feet by her hair.

Sai was terrified, but not so much for herself. She had no doubt that Virat would come to her rescue sooner than later, but now Jagtap's words were constantly ringing in her mind. He definitely planned on harming Virat and she was not willing to put his life at risk, even if it meant her life was on line. She had to closely watch out for the right opportunity to find her escape. She had to reach Virat, before he found them.
Virat

Virat had found that Sai had left college in a hurry and then someone had seen her being manhandled and whisked away in a truck by some people. Though he was sure that Jagtap was behind it, the witness had only sealed his claim. Through some leads on the vehicle and the description of the abductors, Virat had set out to trace their tracks. His investigation had led him to a dense forest at the outskirts of the city. It was already dark, and it would prove to be a major deterrent in their search operation. He also had to be mindful of keeping a low profile, because Sai was in their possession, and they could harm her in their attempt to escape. He also had no clue about Jagtap's intentions yet.

Sai
As if an answer to her prayer, Jagtap tripped on something in the dark and fell and rolled down what seemed to be a slope. In his attempt to balance himself he had dropped his hold on Sai. His men ran to help him and this was the leeway that she was waiting for. She didn't waste a second, and turned around before running back to what she assumed was the way back to the highway. Sai ran as fast as she could, she knew her life was at stake and her heart was thudding so loud, she could hear it loud and clear. She tried to dodge them and flee taking advantage of the darkness, but they were close on her tracks. Everytime she turned around to check, she saw the gap closing up between them. Just when she saw Jagtap fling up his arm and stretch it out to grab her, someone appeared infront of them. Everyone came to a halt at the presence of a stranger. Sai and Jagtap and his men were trying to figure out who he was and  gauging the possible turn of course with this new arrival. Through the dim light of the flashlight he was holding up to look at them, she tried to figure out his features. She was in a forest, kidnapped, she wasn't sure if the person who stood infront of her was a devil or a savior in disguise, desperately praying for the latter. While she was contemplating her next move, closely watching the movements of the men around her and the one who had just appeared, she sensed a familiarity. And she squinted her eyes for a clearer look, and then it dawned on her. Yes it's him! She recognised that face, and as she placed the name to that face, she called out. It was more of a whisper as if she was assuring herself, wondering at the serendipity of the all that had played out in the last few hours. She sent out a silent prayer to all the gods she could remember, for bringing him to her rescue.
