One Shot: Questions when you start dating
Questions when you start dating
The living room of Kapoor Mansion was noisy with the two friends yelling and fighting with each other while the host and his wife just watched them in amusement.
"Oh please, you are just jealous that Vicky married Katrina!" Brinda snapped, clearly offended at the attack.
"But she is KATRINA KAIF!"
"And he is VICKY KAUSHAL. What is your point? Have you seen the dude?" Brinda asked, and everyone turned to look at Aditya, waiting for him to react as his wife was thirsting over another man.
"Don't look at me. I am just lucky that Binda hasn't covered my bedroom with his posters." Aditya sighed, making Ram laugh.
"I know the perfect Anniversary gift for you guys." Ram smirked, and Aditya threw a fork at him.
"You will rot in hell," Adi grumbled, and Ram laughed more. Priya shook her head at their behavior. She was used to adults behaving like kids, her Akshay and Sandy seemed to have never understood the concept of growing up, but her husband's friends seemed to have found a new level of childishness.
"Kunal, would you like some more Biryani?" She asked the man who was busy on the phone and only giving contributions when he wasn't replying to the person on the other side.
"Oh no, thank you. I need to leave. Maa has been texting for ages," that was enough for Brinda and Vikrant to stop arguing and look at him.
"Didn't you tell aunty that we are having a night out?" Brinda asked, slightly offended.
"I did, but you know how she gets..." He replied sheepishly.
"Oh, poor Kunal. How is he going to survive in this big bad world." Vikrant said and pulled Kunal's head to his chest and started fake crying, making everyone laugh. Kunal pushed him away and rolled his eyes.
"Let him go. Stop it!" Ram said, and they dropped it, knowing that there was no space for more argument.
"Come back soon, my love." Vikrant yelled as Kunal walked away, and he simply shot him a finger that made Brinda shriek, "Oohhh... He flipped you." And laugh.
"Is it just me, or has Kunal stopped hanging out with us?" Aditya asked as the laughter died down.
"Yeah, he is being aloof. And he is always on his phone, reminds me of Shivina when she was dating Akshay." Ram shrugged. Brinda looked at the two men, and her eyes grew wide.
"You guys, we are going to get another Bhabhi soon." She said and gasped. They blinked at her in surprise.
The question was "What was Kunal hiding?" Even though Brinda had a theory.
~~~~~
"So, Kunal, remember Aisha Jaiswal?" Brinda asked super casually as she munched on an almond biscuit. Aditya looked at her curiously and shrugged when Kunal looked at him in confusion.
"She was our junior in college. She visited my boutique today and was asking about you."
"Is she the one who had streaked her hair pink?" Kunal asked, squinting his eyes in an attempt to jog down the memory lane.
"That's the one! I have her number, do you want it?" She asked so innocently that Aditya almost fell for it. Almost. He knew his wife well enough to know when the angel's halo hid the devil's horns.
"No, thanks. I don't want to see anyone right one," Kunal said dismissively.
"Why, are you still hung up on Priya?" Aditya asked, and Brinda had to duck her head to hide her smirk. Between her and Vikrant, people usually forgot how cunning Aditya could get.
"What, no! Ew... She is my best friend's wife, for Christ's sake!" He huffed and left.
"Yup, he is definitely seeing someone." They concluded from his apathy and looked at each other.
Now the question was "Who was Kunal dating?"
~~~~~~~
"Ram, do you have a minute? "
Ram and Priya turned to look at Ram's youngest friend, fidgeting on the doorframe of his cabin.
"Yeah, sure." He looked at his wife, who nodded.
"I'll see you later, Mr. Kapoor."
"Oh no, please wait. I know it's going to be awkward as hell, but I want to talk to you two."
Priya blinked in confusion and took her seat. The three looked at each other awkwardly for a few minutes. Kunal cleared his throat and then looked at Ram, avoiding Priya's eyes.
"Ram, you have given me everything I could wish and ask for. This job, my friends and your opinion matters most to me. After this, you might see me differently, but please don't. I am still Kunal. The geeky guy who helped you pass in college."
"Hey! Don't tell Priya that! She is going to use it against me!" Ram said defensively, and Priya threw him a glare.
"Kunal, no matter what you tell us, we all still...love you." Priya hesitated a bit, still uncomfortable about his crush on her, which now seemed was eons ago, even though it was just a year and half ago.
"As long as you haven't killed anyone." Ram laughed, not realizing where the conversation was heading.
"Ram, I am seeing someone." He said so fast that Ram almost missed it. Priya beamed at him.
"Who is she?" She asked in excitement. Though she was not a fan of romance, being married to Mr. Chaos and living with his trope of chaos made her a bit soft. A bit.
"She is a... He..." He said and winced. He closed his eyes tightly. When the two didn't react, he opened his eyes and started rambling.
"His name is Prithvi. He is a fashion designer. I met him at the workshop I attended with Bri three months ago. He is really cute and funny, and he really cares about me. You two will really like him. Well, not like that, but.." He sighed, still not getting a reaction.
"That's amazing, Kunal. I am so happy for you." Priya held his hand, not a fan of hugs.
"Mr. Kapoor," She called out to her husband as if to snap him out of it.
"Give me his details. " Ram almost growled.
Kunal blinked. If this is how Ram reacted, the question was "How will the rest of them react?"
~~~~~~
Ram and Brinda looked at Prithvi, observing his every move. Aditya looked at them as if he wanted to hurl something at them for scaring the man, while Vikrant relaxed in his chair, not even attempting to hide his amusement. Priya simply watched the two friends be dramatic, and Kunal and Prithvi looked back at them. They held hands below the table, but no one needed to know that. Sara watched the whole scene in amusement, though she couldn't deny how cute the two men looked together.
"What are your plans for Kunal?" Brinda asked, in all seriousness.
"I wish to date him, if he wants to, and see where this is going." Prithvi said and gave a small shrug as if to say, "duh!"
"And will you marry him?" Ram asked.
"Mr. Kapoor!" "Ram!" Priya and Kunal snapped at the man, horrified.
"So? What? You guys are going to date and then break up?" Brinda asked, taken aback.
"Let us at least get to the dating part, you guys! And gay marriages aren't legal in India." Kunal covered his face with his hand in embarrassment.
"You hide behind our backs for three months and see this guy, and you are still not dating? Also, you guys could easily shift to Paris or something, after marriage." Vikrant said, jumping on the wagon. He, for one, was having the time of his life.
Sara coughed to hide her chuckle, and Adiya smirked, knowing that it would only instigate Ram and Brinda more.
Kunal shot Vikrant a glare and then focused on Prithvi.
"Guys, come on, you guys are simply overreacting." He whined and Ram looked at him for a few seconds.
"Fine," Ram fell back on his seat, and everyone looked at him surprise.
"But, if you hurt him," He leaned in, his faces inches away from Prithvi's, and narrowed his eyes dangerously.
"I will hunt you down and will unleash Priya on you. And trust me, when she bullies you, it's like living your nightmares."
"Hey!" Priya snapped, but it went unnoticed.
"Duly noted." Prithvi nodded, in all seriousness. He looked at the said woman. Priya was suddenly glaring at him, despite her annoyance at her husband. Her protectiveness for her husband's friend was made crystal clear. Kunal simply rolled his eyes.
But he wouldn't lie if he said that he was in tears. He knew his friends would accept him, no matter what, but seeing them still be their dramatic selves and not alienate him, relieved him of all the stress he had since he had first held Prithvi's hand on their first date. His friends were his world and now, Prithvi was a part of it. There was nothing more he could ask for and there were no more questions to be asked.
