Part 10 [MEMBERSONLY][NOCOPY]
Rathore: DUMP DATA ANALSYSIS?!!?
Arjun looked up with a start………………………
Arjun: tum kab aaye?
Rathore continued to stare at him in disbelief and why not? Dump Data Analysis was an extremely tedious task. It involved a software recognizing pre-determined code words usually used by criminals for communicating by taking information of every conversation, call, text or social media of every person from the tower that transmitted it. The code words were obviously easy uses in the general language. It was up to the officers to scour through each of the records and its history to differentiate actual threats.
Arjun: Rathore?
He jerks out his thoughts. Sameer blinked rapidly to make sure it was a reality and not a dream.
He could barely mumble: what the freaking hell?
Arjun(irritated): Rathore irritate mat karo mujhe! Dikh Nahi Raha Mere Paas Itna Kaam Hai?
Rathore: par tum ye sab kar kyun rahe ho?
Arjun stands up: I am not answerable to you!!!
Rathore stiffens: main tumhara Chief hu Rawte!!!
Arjun glares at him: ye koi official case nahi aur uske bahar mujhe jo karna hai main kar sakta hun!
Rathore tries to soothe him: Arjun baat kya hai, kuch toh batao, subah bhi tum…
Arjun: mujhe jo karna hai main karunga!!!
Rathore sighs: acha theek hai karo lekin batao toh sahi
Arjun: Rathore Tumhe Ek Baar Mein Meri Baat Samaj Nahi Aa Rahi?!!?
Rathore: Rawte, koi problem hai toh batao, main tumhari madad…
Arjun: tum meri madad karna chahte ho?
Rathore: of course
Arjun: Toh Fir Beech Mein Mat Pado! Jab Tak Ye Kaam Nahi Khatam Hota Tab Tak Office Mein Aur Kisi Ko Bhi Is Baare Mein Pata Nahi Chalna Chahiye! Samjhe Ya Samjhau?
Rathore: theek hai Arjun lekin mujhe toh batao ki baat…
Arjun: Get Out Rathore!!!
Rathore: Rawte kya ho gaya hai tumhe? kyun itne disturbed ho?
Arjun bellows: Maine Kaha Baahar!!!
Understanding that he will not answer, he goes. Arjun exhales deeply and takes his seat mv “sorry Rathore, na main Shree ko information leak karne ka risk le sakta hun aur na hi tumhari jaan ko khatre mein daalne ka”
His gaze falls on the photo frame of her that he had removed from the drawer. Gaining strength from her smile, he dived into the papers again.
Rathore’s cabin-
Sameer sat deep in his thoughts mv “Rawte kya kar raha hai? Dump Data Analysis? Pehle us par hamla hua aur ab ye? Kaha fas raha hai ye? Mujhe kuch na kuch toh karna hi hoga”
He fished out his phone to call his informer. Searching through the contacts, he was about to click when a message popped up.
Arjun- please informer mat lagana, trust me…. Please mujhe thoda time do…. please
Rathore glared at the screen as if it was the second-in-command himself. Why did he have to be so difficult? He wondered what would be the consequences of him storming into Arjun’s cabin and strangling him to death. Cursing under his breath, he shoved his violent thoughts away. His gaze faltered to the message again and he saw something he hadn’t realized the first time.
Arjun Rawte and please? Three times? Rathore contemplated if Arjun had managed to hurt his head somewhere that was causing his weird mood swings. Then again, looking at the desperation he had just displayed, he was sure that it was something very serious. Under no circumstances did he want anyone else to get involved in it.
Rathore sighed mv “bas marna mat”
Among the papers in his cabin, Arjun worked the entire night looking at all the transactions that had occurred from the ETF office. The sun rose up again but Arjun was still there, barely having any clue yet.
It was 9 when Rathore came in again with a cup of tea for him.
Rathore: Rawte?
Arjun groaned: tum fir aa gaye?!
Rathore: bas ye dene aaya tha
Arju gazed at his friend as he silently placed the cup in whatever space was left on the table and walked out.
Rathore knew he couldn’t force Arjun to have breakfast or lunch for that matter so he kept slipping in his cabin to serve him tea. That was one thing that Arjun wouldn’t resist.
It was afternoon by the time something hit Arjun’s eyes. A call had been made to a PCO in Shanti Colony. He straightened and started reading the suspicious words.
They indicated instructions for killing someone. Arjun checked the date. It was the day he had been almost killed in the blast.
He flipped the pages to find a similar message for when the sniper attacked but there was none. How could there be? The first attempt was unsuccessful, it was obvious that the guy had to finish his job. Arjun took a deep breath.
“Intel hai ki Shanti Colony ke aaspaas aata jaata rehta hai, shayad wahi kahi rehta ho?”
This meant that Chetan operated out of Shanti Colony that was near the basti he lived in. After Chetan, Shree had probably hired someone else to kill Tiwari in a similar fashion of road accidents. And why not? Shree was a part of the force. He knew road accident murders were the easiest to cover up. Most of the time, the police wouldn’t even suspect that it could be something else.
Arjun checked the device from which the transmission was made. Although it was not registered to Shree’s name, the location showed the ETF office. Obviously, the technical expert was covering his tracks. He marked the necessary information on the paper and kept it separately on the side. He then used the device to find other transmissions among the heap of papers.
It took him two hours but finally found a few more papers. One was the day Riya supposedly died.
Arjun mv “Doctor aur Shyamlal”
However, there was one more transmission while Riya was in the ETF. Arjun wondered what happened on the date. The instruction was the same. They were kill orders alright but whom? He opens his laptop to search the date in the system. It was the day, when the team had solved the case of Rathore’s friend’s missing mother.
Arjun strains his memory to think of anything unusual that happened that day but drew to a blank. Was it even related to the case? He didn’t know what was going on in their personal lives, out of office hours. It could have been anything. However, one thing was certain, Shree had gotten someone killed that time.
Arjun mv “iska matlab Shree ye number regularly use karta hai, dekhta hun agar is number se kuch aur pata chalta hai toh”
He turns to his laptop to access the call records. There were only three numbers to which the calls had been made. Dr. Riddhima, Chetan and another number. The unknown number was contacted only once i.e. the previous day. Arjun presumes it had to be the hit man that got Tiwari killed. It was a new guy since Chetan was dead.
Arjun mv “iska matlab Dr. Riddhima bhi lambe time se, is khel mein shaamil hai par kyun? sirf paise? Ek reputed private hospital mein job karne waale doctor ko salary kam toh nahi pad sakti, kuch toh chut raha hai.”
Thinking something, he enters her name in the universal search engine. Her name pops up with a few seminars she had conducted and the affiliations with the hospital. Arjun scrolled down. The last result on the page had a different name.
‘Riddhima Sen’
Confused, he scrolls back up thinking it was some other Riddhima. His finger moved over the scroller on the mouse, going up and down the screen, trying to catch something. He stops at the last result again. He moves back up. The hospital had a different title for oncologist, ‘Dr. Mrs. Riddhima Sharma’ His brain clicks. He moved back down, ‘Dr. Riddhima Sen’ conducted a training…
Arjun mv “oh shit!!! Sen toh Shree ka surname hai, shaadi ke baad Sharma iska matlab ki woh Shree ki behen hai?!!?”
Before he could register the new information and come out of shock, his ear was greeted by the sound of the door opening and footsteps.
Rathore had arrived with another cup of tea.
Arjun: hi
Rathore cursed him mentally mv “subah se kamine ke liye peon ban raha hun aur ye ab dekh raha hai” In his irritation, he sets down the glass albeit harshly on the table. He glared at Arjun only to notice that there was a minor sense of peace on his face.
Rathore: kya hua?
Arjun took a sip from the cup: ek clue mila
Rathore: aur woh bhi tu mujhe nahi batayega
Arjun remained silent, staring at the brown color liquid in his hand.
Rathore sighed: Rawte, ek taraf tum itne desperate ban rahe ho aur dusri taraf kuch karne nahi de rahe ho, mujhe samaj mein nahi aa raha hai ki main tumhari chinta karu ya fir tumhari jaan le lu
Arjun: Rathore, main majbur hu, please itne sawaal mat karo mujhse, waqt aane par sab kuch apne aap saaf ho jaayega
Rathore: tum apni jaan ko khatre mein toh nahi daal rahe na?
Arjun: tumhe kya lagta hai ki woh sniper aur blast se meri jaan ko khatra nahi?
Rathore(shocked): tum uski in…
Arjun: nahi, main kuch aur dhundh raha hun aur woh sab mujhe rokne ke liye tha, isse zyaada main tumhe abhi kuch nahi bata sakta
His mind raced like an officer now: toh fir attacks ruk kyun gaye? (sternly) ya fir tum chupa rahe ho humse?
Arjun: main nahi chupa raha, woh nahi kar raha hai uske peeche bhi wajah hai
Rathore waits for him to speak up but he doesn’t. He realized he was not going to get any more answers.
Rathore: theek hai, jo bhi kar rahe ho dhyaan se karna and you know where to find me
Arjun nods in appreciation: ha Rat…
They were interrupted by the sound of Arjun’s phone ringing. Arjun stiffened on seeing the name. It was Mohan.
Arjun: ha bolo!.... main aata hun, nazar rakho!
He quickly disconnects the call while cantering out of his chair. The Chief was confused seeing the delight on his face.
Rathore: Rawte?
Arjun: Rathore, I think ye khatam honewaala hai, nahi, think nahi, ab main ise khatam kar hi dunga, agle 24 ghanto mein sab theek ho jaayega, I promise you!
Arjun smirks to himself as he rushes out of the building mv “criminal chahe jitna bhi shatir kyun na ho, koi na koi galti zaroor karta hai”
Here Rathore is still confused mv “achanak kya hua? Abhi toh clue keh raha tha ab keh raha hai 24 ghante mein khatam ho jaayega.”
Still in his thoughts, he absentmindedly walks back to his cabin. A knock resounds on the door bringing him back to reality.
Rathore: come in
Ayesha enters with a file: sir post-mortem ki report par aapke signatures chahiye
He nods. She sits in front and passes him the file. Rathore opens the file and skims through it barely paying attention to what actually was in it.
Ayesha notices the worry lines on his forehead and frowns. There wasn’t anything complicated or dangerous that the ETF was handling at the moment then why was he so worried? If she was right, those lines were there since the previous day. It could also have been related to the incident that occurred in the police headquarters. None of them had seen Arjun since then.
Ayesha: Rathore sir?
Rathore looks up: ha?
Ayesha: aap kuch pareshaan lag rahe hai, sab theek toh haina?
Rathore sighs: nahi Ayesha, sab theek nahi hai
Ayesha: kya baat hai?
Rathore: mujhe nahi pata
Ayesha(confused): nahi pata toh fir aap pareshaan kyun hai?
Rathore: Rawte ki wajah se
Ayesha: oh, kal jo hua isliye?
Rathore: ha bhi aur na bhi
Ayesha: main kuch samjhi nahi
Rathore: mujhe bhi kuch samaj nahi aa raha hai, puchta hun toh kehta hai waqt rehte sab samaj jaoge tum hi bolo, iska kya jawab du main?
Ayesha: Rathore sir, aap kya bol rahe hai mere kuch samaj mein nahi aa raha hai
Rathore lashes out: Woh Kya Bol Raha Hai Mere Samaj Mein Nahi Aa Raha Hai!!!
Ayesha just stared at him. Rathore sighs.
Rathore: pata nahi kaunsi musibat mein sar daal kar baitha hai
Ayesha: par woh team se kyun share nahi kar rahe hai? I mean, I know woh aise kabhi kuch batate nahi hai but legal maamla hai toh officially karna behtar hoga na
Rathore: tumhe kya lagta hai Ayesha, maine nahi kaha usse? Maine use samjhaane ki koshish ki lekin woh nahi maan raha hai, ek hi baat par ada hai, upar se kehta hai ki team mein se kisi ko kuch pata nahi chalna chahiye
Ayesha squints: aisa kyun?
Rathore: bhagwan hi jaane
Ayesha falls silent as her mind races through the possibilities. She spoke after a few moments.
Ayesha: sir, kahi aisa toh nahi ki woh un attacks se, related ho
Rathore: related hai
Ayesha(shocked): matlab, unki jaan ko khatra hai
Rathore: ha par woh keh raha hai ki woh firse attack nahi karega
Ayesha: aisa kaise?
Rathore: wahi toh, woh kuch batane ko taiyaar hi nahi
Ayesha: aapko kya lagta hai, hume kuch karna chahiye?
Rathore: definitely kuch karna chahiye Ayesha lekin
Ayesha: lekin?
Rathore: lekin ye ki woh bahot restless hai, keh raha ki thoda time do, use handle karne do jis tarah se woh baat kar raha hai use dekhkar uske khilaaf jaa kar uske peeth peeche kuch karna ke liye man nahi maan raha hai
Ayesha comforts him: toh fir vishwas rakhiye, (smiling) after all, woh the ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte hai
Rathore sighs: ha I think tum sahi keh rahi ho, thank you Ayesha
Ayesha(standing up): you’re welcome sir!!
She takes the file and goes towards the door. Remembering Arjun’s words, he stop her.
Rathore: Ayesha ruko! Woh…
She turns: don’t worry, main kisi ko kuch nahi bataungi
Rathore smiles as she leaves. Her words had calmed him down to quite an extent. She was right in a way. It was Arjun after all. Arjun may have team issues and socially phobic tendencies but he was smart enough to get the right people involved at the right time. The solving of crises always mattered most to him, no matter what the method……………………..
