#2: Sick Wifey, Caring Hubby

Ram finished his evening coffee and walked up to his wife, who was behind the counter. Unlike other days, there wasn't a crowd at the small but popular bakery. There was only a couple sitting in the corner.

Ram loved visiting the bakery, but he wasn't sure why. Was it the hot hazelnut chocolate that Sara made or was it just watching his wife work?

Priya began muttering beside him and Ram knew his peace was at an end.

"Oh, come on!" Ram raised her eyebrows. "What is it?" he asked, knowing he'd hear it from her sooner or later.

"The couple at that table, it's been about 10 minutes since they've been here and they are yet to order. Do they think that this is some park where they can come to romance?"

"Easy there, Bajrang Dal. Besides, they are in love. Cut them some slack!"

"I would cut them some slack if only they would order. My feet are killing me, and there they are, so into each other that the girl might as well pop his baby out!" She whined and leaned against him. Then she sniffled.

"Do you have a cold?"

"No, I don't!"

"Yes, she does," Sara said as she walked out of the kitchen with a tray filled with cupcakes.

"I have been telling her to go home and get some rest, but if she ever listens to me, I'll eat my own feet!" Sara glanced angrily at her younger sister and started to arrange the cupcakes on the shelf. Ram looked at his wife and sister-in-law and went to the kitchen. Priya and Sara exchanged looks and shrugged. Sara went back to the kitchen, and Priya was back to attending to some customers who had just walked in.

A few minutes later, Ram returned with a cup of steaming tea. The smell of ginger tea almost smelled like heaven for Priya, even though her nose was blocked.

"Drink this and go sit! I don't want you dripping all over these cupcakes and making everyone sick," Ram said. He knew that requesting her was useless, and scolding her would backfire, so taunting her was the best approach to get her to rest.

"I am not sick, and I am not dripping," she cried and rubbed her nose.

"If India's health violation codes were as strict as America's, this bakery would have shut down the minute you entered," Sara said and passed her a tissue.

"You two are horrible!" she whined, took the cup from her husband and went to one of the chairs.

Sara and Ram smirked and shared a hi-five. Priya looked at them angrily and took a sip of the tea, scalding her tongue. She whined again, slamming the cup down and the other two chuckled at the faces she made.

But deep down, Ram couldn't stop adoring how cute Priya looked with her red nose and whiny expressions. Almost like a baby, who needed to be coddled and taken care of. And he would take care of her.
