1. Yellow is Life

Meera asked Priya to wear a saree and vermillion as well on the very first day of her marriage. 

"Ma I don't like all this !" Priya thought this was all nonsensical but Meera insisted and refused to budge, "Please wear them for me."

Priya pondered over it for a while finally giving in but not without calling the saree 'bhadkili'.

"Okay fine, I will wear this bhadkili saree!" She said making a face and Meera left after giving her scowling daughter a tight hug.

Priya was changing into that sunflower yellow saree when Ram came out of the bathroom humming a song absent-mindedly and his presence caught her off guard.

Priya did not hesitate to pronounce her displeasure as she ordered,  "Kya kar rahe hain aap, udhar...udhar dekhiye!"  He immediately turned his back to face her and she too tucked her saree pleats.

Ram complimented her while wearing his blazer, "That is one Nice saree, also my favourite colour." 

"Do you like it?" Priya looked disgusted.

He widened his smile, "Yes, nice bright colour."

Priya murmured, "This is called bhadkila, not bright!"

Ram came closer to her which surprised her, "What are you..." She started to voice her displeasure,  outraged that her personal space should be violated without her permission but he intervened, "From today, I will never forget that we are..." he took a pause and finished what he started to say, "that we are married."

He looked at her vermillion and smiled fondly.

Something came first in her mind, "Mazak kar rahe hain Priya jaane de." 

She took a deep breath and continued, "Is yellow really your favourite colour?" she didn't know why did she even asked. Why did it matter if it is really his favorite colour or not, it didn't make her hate it any less. 

"Yup! Yellow is bright, yellow is charming, yellow is..." He couldn't find the perfect word when she completed the sentence with "life...My English students keep on chanting this." she uttered almost immediately as if to defend herself.

"Masterni ji, I am your husband not student," Ram said holding his breathe.

She opened her eyes wide horrified at being addressed as 'Masterni ji', "What did you just call me?"

Ram gulped and immediately left the room calling for Meera ma, the only person who could save him from the khadoos wife of his.
