A New Beginning

Raavi Pandya looked out of the window of her room and stared up at the sky. It has been over six months since she has been married to Shiva. From the moment they met in childhood, they have always been fighting. They had never thought that they would be married to each other some day. Dhara was trying her best to make them work on the marriage, so for the past month they have been spending more time with each other talking, getting to know each other but without any physical contact. They sit at least ten inches apart from each other when interacting. Shiva even slept on the floor and literally orders her to sleep on the bed. One day they suddenly bumped onto each other and Raavi was shocked with Shiva's sudden outburst.

“Dur reh mujhse. Kareeb aane k bahane dhoondna band kar de, samjhi?”

And he left leaving behind a shocked and confused Raavi.

Raavi woke up at six in the morning after a solid eight hours of sleep. She'd left the curtains open and the pale pink light of dawn flooded the room. She looked towards Shiva, his place was empty so he was already awake. She walked towards the direction of the bathroom and suddenly the door of the washroom swung open. Shiva stepped out and Raavi walked right onto him - into his bare chest, onto the towel swathed around his hips. Into his waiting arms.

Heaven, she thought, sheer heaven. And felt his arms tighten around her, fasten on her as if she were his heart's desire.

But suddenly he pushed her, but careful enough not to hurt her.

“Dekh Raavi, ab bahut ho raha hai tera. Band kar apni yeh harqatein.” He said and went to wear his clothes.

Raavi couldn't take it anymore, since they were married, this Bhootnath had made her life hell. She knew he was doing it intentionally and she wanted to sort it out full and final today. 

Shiva wore his vest and picked up his shirt when he felt a tug on his shoulder and turned, only to find a very fidgety but fuming Raavi.

“Kya problem hai?” He questioned.

“Tujhe kya problem hai? Why do you spat venom whenever you talk to me? Whatever your issue is, deal with it face to face with me like an adult here! Stop accusing me for something I don’t even think of. I am not dying to stay close to you. At least tell me what the damn problem is! It's not a battle unless the other one is in the battlefield as well, you haven't won if you haven't fought!” Raavi burst out.

“Battle,Raavi? Really?” Shiva said in disbelief. “Are you even serious? After everything that has happened, do you really think I care enough to make sure you are comfortable? Get out of your bubble! My life doesn’t revolve around you.” He spat out.

“Oh, ofcourse it does! Warna Tu mujhe neecha dikhaane k tarike nahi dundhta rehta! Iss Shaadi mein meri marzi bhi nhi thi, Shiva. Jitna Tu majboor tha utna main bhithi.”

“Haan toh agar kar hi li hai Shaadi toh bugat ab! Main waisa kabhi nahi ban sakta jaisa tujhe pasand hai. Dekha tha mene tujhe apne gentlemen doston k saamne dhinge haakte hue ki mera pati aisa hai mera pati waisa hai. Jo jo tune kaha na, main unmese kuch nahi hoon, Raavi. Na handsome aur naa perfect. Toh ab mujhe b bata de, aakhir kiske baare mein bata rahi thi tu?”

“That's enough, Shiva! Stop right there! You are crossing a line!” Raavi yelled grabbing his vest. Shiva grabbed her shoulders and yelled right back.

“Why Raavi? Does the truth hurt? Did someone finally hold up a mirror? Is the bubble burst now?”

“Shut up, Shiva, bakwaas band kar apni warna...” Raavi warned.

“Warna? Warna kya? Main toh dar gaya!” Shiva faked fear. “What will you do now? Hit me? Come on, slap me if you dare!” he scoffed and looked away but before he could realise he was pushed back against the pillar and Raavi placed her lips on his, kissing him with passionate anger. Her hands travelled from his collar to his neck, she scratched the nape of this neck making him loose control. Shiva gathered his wits and brought his hands to her face and kissed her back furiously. 

They poured all their angst, frustration and hatred into the kiss, their lips were fighting a battle of ascendancy while their hands fought for dominance. Minutes would have turned into hours if it wasn't for the mobile phone. It rang and they jumped apart like a hand and a hot plate. They were both breathing heavily and looking everywhere but each other. Shiva cut the call and eyed at Raavi, she was looking down wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. There was an awkwardness in the air between them. Raavi was rubbing her palms together, turned her back towards him.“I...I'm sorry. I should've never started this conversation! Jo bhi hua who anjaane mein…”

She made her way towards the door when Shiva pulled her against him.

“I know jo bhi hua anjaane mein hua,” Shiva whispered. “Ab jaanbujh kar kartey hain.”

He put his lips against hers and the battle began again, her hands raked through his already messy hair, his hand roamed all around her body. Shiva broke the kiss and muttered her name as he buried his face in her hair raining kisses on her throat, pushing her hair aside and tracing the line of her collarbone with his lips. Her whole body was engulfed in a wave of desire so primitive, so fierce that she forgot everything but the delicious sensuality of Shiva's mouth on her flesh.

"Shiva,” Raavi whispered. "Why were you avoiding me?"

Shiva's hold on her loosened and he tried to move away but Raavi pulled him closer and she held his neck tightly.

“Everything I told my friends is true. You are a good man. Hardworking, handsome.”

Shiva looked at her, amused.

“You may not be perfect, but you are perfect for me. I find you handsome, Shiva. I am telling the truth.” Raavi said as she cupped his face.

She removed the hair that were falling on his forehead and kissed him softly there, making Shiva close his eyes.

"I know you aren’t the man of my dreams but you are the only man in my life, Shiva. I may have loved Dev once but he never reciprocated my feelings, wo meri zindagi ka bas ek hissa tha, par ab Tu meri Zindagi ki kahani ban gaya hai. You are the one I want to share my happiness and troubles with." Raavi said as she kissed his already closed eyes.

“I won’t say that I love you because I don’t.” she said and Shiva opened his eyes to look at her. “I don’t want to lie you, Shiva. I don’t love you now but I am sure I am going to someday. I never disliked you, never hated you. I always respected you and it’s easier to love someone you respect. Bas mujhe thoda sa time de de.”

“Hume ek dusre ko hi time dena chahiye, Raavi. Main promise karta hoon main tujhe samajhne ki puri koshis karunga aur aaj k baad tera dil kabhi nahi dukhaunga” Shiva said.

“Chup kar.” Raavi scolded. “Aisa promise mat kar jo tu pura nahi kar sakta. Ladaai karne ka toh bas banaana chahiye tujhe.”

“Mujhe bahana chahiye?” Shiva asked in disbelief. “Ek toh main tera saath dene ki koshis kar raha hoon aur tu mujhe…”

Shiva didn’t continued and sighed. Perhaps their fight was the life of their relationship. He chuckled as he wiped the tears that fell from his eyes and leaned to kiss Raavi's forehead. She closed her eyes as Shiva wiped her tears too.

“Wo main…” Shiva stammered.

“Haan bol?” Raavi asked him to continue.

“Wo.. Tere iss time mein yeh bhi allowed nahi hai kya?” he asked looking everywhere but her.

“Kya?”

“Yeh jo abhi abhi hum dono k beech hua.”

“Acha! Kiss?”

Shiva nodded.

“Itna toh chalta hai.” Raavi said blushing.

“Hein?”

“Haan! Allowed hai!”

Without wasting a moment, Shiva took her lips into his.
