One single choice turned my life upside-down

Left the shabby linen to fit in the embroidered gown

Wrong choice said everyone, but I didn't care

What's a life where one works daily, just to pay fare

Born on the streets- time, luxury all do matter

Never had the guts to deny, when served on platter

Call me voracious, a gold-digger in lover's disguise

I'll still choose numbness over a thousand cries

Yet when it rains my mind does play back the scene

Your love and unguaranteed future I denied as a routine

Whether it was right, is a question which forever will pertain

Answer in my heart, even on the last day I'll abstain

But there's one thing I would like to let you know-
