"You're a girl, act like one"
"Sit like a lady"
"Girls don't talk loud, don't laugh out loud"
"Be quiet"
"Silence"
"You're a girl, have some respect"
...
"I said I like girls."
My mother looked alarmed, shocked even, "There is no such thing."
"All my life I've been acting like a girl but I can't love one?"
"No."
"Well our Lesbian Jesus said girls like girls like boys do, nothing new...I'm real and I don't feel like boys..."
I shut the door of my closet and pull myself in, once again.

Emotional one, esp when the mother says der is no such thing as lesbian. Its the elder generation who needs to be educated about LGBTQ+. Once again good one Neha.
