                A colorful banner welcomed the freshers as Maan Singh Khurana stepped into the Excel College Campus. Maan is a first year MBA student. The seniors welcome the juniors with a warm smile. Excel college is a reputed institute and has always been in the news for its achievements in academics. But all this is history. It has lost it's glory for the past few years. Still many old students loved it. Maan's father being an alumnus of the Excel college insisted that Maan too joined it.

                Ms.Mathur is the vice-principal and she is known to be very sincere and strict. The students called her "Lady Hitler". She's an old lady, working since Maan's father's days at the college. You could say that she's actually from the last century (19th) , very old fashioned and still having faith in this college and it's students. She is one of the few people, like Mr.Kkhurana, senior, who regret the present condition of their prestigious institution, THE EXCEL COLLEGE OF EXCELLENCE, and they believe that they could restore it's past status through hard work and dedication, in which world are they in?, that's why we call them the past generation, far from the understanding of Gen X.

                You know, the current students are also not far behind their earlier counterparts. They too have made their college famous. Yes, Excel college is back in the news, but only for the wrong reasons, Clashes among the students and the administration, which they proudly call their "War of Liberty", the secret drugs supply chain, which they want to be open and thus obtain liberty. Many of the faculty members left, and only a few like Lady Hitler still believe that this place is their pride and won't let it rot like this.

Since Maan entered the campus premises a rumor surrounds Lady Hitler and her residence. Lady Hitler being the senior most person in the faculty and the vice-principal, she had the privilege of staying inside the campus. She had her own residence, a small guest house placed among the small oasis of trees inside the beautiful Excel campus. It's famous for these lush green surroundings and the serene environment.

The rumor is that, there is a mysterious guest at her place. Some say that it's a ghost, some say that Lady Hitler is a split personality, she turns into this mystery monster at nights. Others believe that it's her daughter that she is trying to hide from the world, since she is born to a spinster. Yes, Ms,Mathur is a spinster, she had an affair it seems with one of her colleagues, and this is his child.

The detective inside Maan found this case very interesting and Maan decided to take up this case at his own will. After all he is here with a mission, to restore this place's lost glory. Let the mission begin with clearing out this rumor. Maan started gathering details about Lady Hitler and her mysterious guest, he named this mystery women, Mishty. Students say that they hear quarrels and loud noises only at nights, some have even seen a shadow of this Mishty, moving around that corner room upstairs, always in a white gown, related to the super naturals. Maan is not one to believe all this absurdity. But the students strongly believe that it's the ghost of the young girl who committed suicide at the campus. She is supposed to be Ms.Mathur's favourite student. That's why she has come to stay with Ms.Mathur. They also have a logic behind their hypothesis, all these activities started only after that girl's death.

                As Maan doesn't believe in this ghost story he started collecting information about this girl who committed suicide. And as Maan suspected it's another love story, she had a love failure and so she ended her life and that's the end of that story. The other stories were created by our own creatives who had this hobby of inventing new stories. So, this story had nothing to do with Ms.Mathur. she was just another student and Ms.Mathur hardly remembered her name.

                Maan started his early morning walks a little early, at 4 am when the whole campus was asleep. The best time for his detective job. He circled around the crime site, sorry, it's not the crime site, Ms.Mathur's residence. He watched it keenly waiting for a glimpse of this Mishty. After a couple of days wait he was lucky enough to spot her. But he didn't jump to conclusions and waited for a few more days before he confirmed the presence of this Mishty as rightly pointed out by the students in that corner room upstairs. So, this is not just any rumor but a solid case for our young Sherlock Holmes.

                Holmes is all set to break this mystery. Next day he went to Ms.Mathur's place a bit early. At 1 am, this time any ghost would have gone back to its grave after it's meal, ghosts are believed to roam the world only at 12 am. So is at all there was any ghost it would have gone to rest. Maan climbed the pipes stealthily like a professional theif, and he made it to the corner room. He peeped inside the room and saw a girl dressed in a shabby white salwar half awake and half dizzy. It's the dawn of her day, it seemed.

                It was pitch dark in that room and Maan hides himself in the darkness. He observed the girl closely. She got out of her bed and tried to reach the door. But she couldn't move more than a few steps. She is chained to the wall and she started shouting, "let me out", "let me out", she started hurling objects on the door and Ms.Mathur who was sleeping next door seemed to be deaf to this noise. Poor Ms.Mathur, gave this girl sleeping pills during daytime and she had them in the night. Maan felt sorry for that girl and he concluded that she is mad. Btu why is she not in the mental asylum? And why is Ms.Mathur hiding her in her house?

                It's time for Maan's exit and he leaves the rest of the detection for the next day. Then came back that night itself, at 11 pm. Ms.Mathur had just gone to sleep and this girl is also still sleeping. Maan had got his cell this time and he switched on the lights of his mobile and saw her face, she looked weak and pale, but still there is some kind of simple beauty about her that he liked, he kept looking at her innocent yet bold face. Suddenly Maan's face turned pale and he quickly left that place, he had seen her before, he is confused, what is she doing here?

The whole day Maan was upset and thinking about Mishty only. He bunked classes and roamed about the campus the Sun sets and it's time for his next visit. He is just waiting to see her face clearly once again before he could decide his future actions. He is now determined to know the truth though it may harm him, this time he has got better light and yes, it is the same girl, he could never forget her in his life. How could he forget her after what he did to her that night...

Maan didn't have the guts to face her and just left before she could wake. Maan thinks about the past, he met her during the holidays when he came to Delhi for his MBA entrance exams. And that was the fateful night when he met her and committed that grave mistake, he had sleepless nights after that horrible incident and is still trying hard to run from the truth. But as they say there is no escape from truth, truth alone triumps, "sataymeva jayate". This Mishty is none other than the girl from his ugly truth, the ghost from his past that he had come face to face this day. Yes, she is the victim of his grave mistake.

After that unfortunate night this girl had lost her mind and she is in the care of her guardian Ms.Mathur. she is an orphan studying here in scholarship, before Maan ruined her life and she had turned into this lunatic. Actually God must have punished Maan and not that poor soul, Maan too has no escape, and his punishment had just begun, is this not a punishment to see a girl turn mad and suffer in front if his eyes just b'coz of his deeds? Is there a better punishment than facing the consequences of his karma so close yet not having the guts to face the truth and hiding himself from everyone?

                Maan then decided that it's high time he accepted the truth and helped her. He decided that he should help her and that way his punishment would be lesser, God will forgive him for what he did, who cares about God? he want this girl to forgive him, then only he can sleep in peace. Till then he had to suffer, thinking about that night all the time. After he saw her in that pathetic condition he is seeing her all the time, at the class, at the mess, even in his dreams. She is asking him why he did that to her? He has no answer. How could he be stoned like that and ignore her cries when she pleaded him so much?
