Chapter 1
It was a peaceful sunny day which Hermione was not used to. The war ended a year ago, and all her friends were settling down, finding the career of their choice. Everyone, except her.
Harry and Ginny had gotten together right after the war. After their kiss, Hermione thought that Ron would ask her out. It was obvious that he fancied her but, he didn't make any move. So, slowly, but shortly, she too stopped thinking about him more than a friend.
It was time she needed a break, she decided.
Climbing down the bus in America, Hermione moved forward, particularly nowhere. She walked a few kilometers, admiring her surrounding and feeling the fresh air.
It was almost dark when she suddenly heard a sound and stopped. And that was when she heard a howl. A wolf's howl, to be exact.
One moment it sounded like it was miles away, and the next moment it felt like it was right there.
She heard a sound coming from the bushes a few feet away. Her breathing started to fasten, just thinking about what was behind those bushes. She walked towards the noise.
She grabbed her wand and marched nearer, only to see two large wolves attacking a man.
"Expelliarmus!" Hermione raised her wand and shouted.
The wolves went hurtling into the bushes in different directions as Hermione ran to the man's side and again raised her wands towards the wolves as a precaution.
In a few moments, that felt like an eternity, they ran away, and Hermione turned towards the man she had just saved.
He had pale skin and golden eyes, and needless to say, he was handsome.
As soon as their eyes met, the darkness consumed her.

Hermione's head throbbed, and her jaws steered in pain as she slowly gained consciousness.
She opened her eyes and gazed around the room. It was a foreign surrounding. It was a big room, with a king-size bed placed in the centre. She tried to recall what happened to her. She remembered saving a man from the wolves, and then she was blank; she remembered nothing.
She got down from the bed and slowly walked towards a portrait hanging on the wall staring at the man in the painting. He was the one she had saved.
Just then, the door of the room swung open, and Hermione turned around with a gasp. She clutched at her heart in shock.
There he stood. Tall, towering. His eyes were fixed on Hermoine's face as he walked in.
She felt a connection form when she looked into his eyes. Hermione couldn't describe the feeling she felt except for absolute completion and happiness. She tried shaking the thoughts out of her mind telling herself she was hallucinating. She saw the look in his eyes go from concerned to relaxed.
"How do you feel now?" He asked, switching on the lamp.
Hermione took a step back instinctively as he took a step closer. It wasn't fear; it was the effect he had on her.
"Are you okay?" He asked, and she realised that he had a husky voice.
"Yes." She replied. "How did I come here?"
"You fainted, so I brought you to my house. I hope you're feeling better now." He said. "By the way, how did you fight the wolves? "
"I feel better," Hermione replied with a smile. "What were you doing there alone? Those wolves were dangerous." She said, completely ignoring his question.
"Yeah... We are enemies for centuries." He whispered, but it didn't go unheard by Hermione.
Enemies of werewolves - Vampire!
"Are you... a... A Vampire?" She asked, stepping back.
"Yes." He replied without hesitation. "How did you do those tricks to save me, I am sure you're not a normal human, so I don't hesitate to reveal this to you. And relax, I'll not harm you. I am a vegetarian; I don't drink human blood. I am Edward Cullen."
"Hermione Granger," Hermione said, pursing her lips in a line.
"Now tell me, how did you throw those wolves away?" Edward asked again.
"Oh, that's an easy question to answer after you revealed your secret to me. I am a witch."
"Y-you're what?" He gasped.
"Witch, Edward," Hermione repeated. Edward looked shocked for a moment and then nodded.
"Would you like to have something? Like, tea or coffee?" He asked.
"No, I am good."
"How did you guess that I am a vampire?"
"I read a lot of books about anything and everyone. And with a lot, I mean a lot! " Hermione replied, stressing the words a lot every time she said them.
"You're crazy." Edward shook his head on her with a smile.
"I know." She shrugged.
"I think you should rest. I'll see you soon," Edward said and left the room.
He entered into his room and plunked onto the couch. He couldn't understand what was happening to him. The moment he saw Hermione, something changed inside him. He felt like he was anchored towards her like she was his whole purpose for surviving.
He had felt the same thing for Bella, his mate. They were so much in love until her father came to know about his real identity. He took her away from him and asked him not to follow behind. Edward could easily find out where she was, but he decided not to. Her father had rights on her more than him, and Bella's life would have always been at risk if she was with him. He had promised himself that he would never look for her.
He was sure that Bella was his mate when he realised that he couldn't read her mind, and it was the same with Hermione. As much as he tried, he couldn't enter into her mind or read her thoughts even after being the strongest telepathic vampire of the coven. Was it because there was a connection between them? Or because she was a witch?
He decided to talk to his adoptive father, Carlisle Cullen, about it.
"After what you have described, I have reached only one conclusion here," Carlisle stated. "This is rare, but this is possible. It can happen."
"What?" Edward asked, confused.
"Only a few Vampires possess this, and maybe you're one of them. Hermione could be your mate, Edward. You might be having two mates." Carlisle said.
