[Another Day]
"Papa, aapko thoda araam karna chahiye. Doctor nein bhi toh kaha hai na?" Haider said, as he entered in Arfeen's room, only to find him standing by the window, drowned in his thoughts. "Beta, ab toh marne ke baad hi araam aayega mujhe." Arfeen said as he wiped his tears and sighed. "Papa aisi baatein toh na karein na." Haider said as the words said by Arfeen instilled in him the fear to lose is only parent. "Sara kahan hai beta?" Arfeen asked as Haider helped him sit on the bed. He was still feeling weak. "Woh room mein hai." Haider said, nonchalantly.
"Sara, beta maaf kar do tum Arfeen ko." Sara heard her mother say. "Kaise maaf kar doon unhein Ammi? Unhonein aur unke khandaan nein jo Kiya uske baad kaise maaf kar doon?" Sara said. "Humein dusron ko maaf kar Dena chahiye beta. Isse unka gunaah Kam nahi hota, lekin humari takleef bahut kam ho jaati hai." Saba said, as she smiled and vanished.
Arfeen and Haider were still talking when they heard a knock at the door. Arfeen was happily surprised to see Sara. "Aao beta." He said, as he smiled. "Aapka soup ka time ho Gaya." She said and sat beside him to help him have his soup. "Mujhe maaf kar do beta." He said, while he looked at his hand, not knowing how to face her. "Kar diya." She said, as she brought a spoonful of the soup towards his mouth. "Ammi nein jab maaf kar diya toh main Kaun hoti hoon maaf na karne wali." She said, as she fed him more of the vegetable soup. "I'm extremely sorry beta. Mujhe Pata hai meri anginat sorry bhi kaafi nahi hain par yakeen Karo beta main bahut sharminda hoon aur qayamat tak ye sharmindagi, ye guilt Kam nahi hoga." Arfeen said, as he cried more.
[FEW MORE DAYS LATER]
As he sat by her feet, he spread the rose petals on her grave and cried holding the soil. "Mera jeena Marna aasaan kar do Saba." Arfeen said. Tears of guilt are more salty than tears of grief.
