The scariest sound was that of gunfire, the one she heard when she was six and her brother was shot right in front of her eyes. 

The most creepy creature that existed was the uncle next door who tried to touch her inappropriately.

 Ghosts from her grandma's stories weren't as scary as those invaders that took her home.

 Fear was the chill she felt as she looked at her bloodied hands and realised the blood wasn't hers. It was of her three year old, who gave up on life in her arms. 

And horror was living with the realisation.
