Part 1: Hide and Seek
“Where’s Somi, Amma?” I asked.
“Must be hiding somewhere,” she replied.
The other day, I had found her murmuring something whilst stuffed inside the wooden cavity, when Amma had stopped me from talking to her.
I saw a tiny hand jutting out of the shelf below the sink. As I took the fragile fingers into my hands, my senses were rendered numb. They were freezing cold.
Due to the sudden jerk, her body tumbled out, onto the floor.
That was the first time I saw her face in totality, without any hideous scarf covering her hollow eyes and wrinkled skin.
