Speaking Flowers

Riddhima sat quietly as her husband and Daadi went through the designs the event manager was showing them for Ishaani’s wedding anniversary. She was never a person for such grandeur and Ishani and she, well, they didn't see eye to eye, so she chose not to comment.

“Which flowers should we go for?” Daadi asked, looking at her.

“Just choose red roses and finish this off,” Vansh spoke.

“Red roses should be used to decorate your room, now keep quiet and let your wife speak,”

“Why my room?” Vansh asked in confusion, but the event manager looked away awkwardly, Daadi scoffed and Riddhima blushed, making him more confused.

“We could use Dahlias, after all, they mean pomp and dignity, both what Ishaani really cares about,” Riddhima spoke and then regretted being a bit harsh about Ishaani.

Daadi nodded and the event manager took out his notepad to make notes. Meanwhile, Vansh still failed to understand why were red roses such a big deal

Vansh legit wanted to hit himself for upsetting Riddhima. He had to apologize to her, for a lot of things, actually, but maybe apologizing for commenting on her career choices was a good start. He ordered a bouquet and asked for a Sorry card with it.

“I...um...I wanted to say sorry, it wasn’t my place to say anything about your career, it's your choice,” He flushed because he knew in his head that he was losing both, words and track of his words and would now start fumbling. He instead placed the Blue Hyacinths in Riddhima’s hands and took off, making Riddhima giggle at her husband’s lack of social skills. She smiled in the Blue Hyacinths which meant apologies and were now the truce makers in their quarrel.

Riddhima looked at the daffodils that looked pretty in the flower boutique’s dim lights. She was accompanying Daadi, to buy a bouquet for a family friend’s birthday.

“I would like a bouquet of Daffodils please,”

Daadi raised her eyebrows at her.

“Maybe its time Vansh and I started things fresh,” she smiled and Daadi nodded. Two years after sticking together against Kabir, the two needed a new start.

Vansh was not sure of this! Heck, he shouldn’t do this, and anyways, who proposes to his wife after marriage, but then, who forces a woman to get married because of some random stupid reason. And he genuinely wanted to tell Riddhima how much he loved her. He looked up the internet and decided to go for Lavender, wanting to express his love and devotion to Riddhima.

Riddhima just hugged him and rested her head on his chest, listening to his fast heartbeat, smiling contentedly.
