A DRINK

Siddhant Bhardwaj, a budding business tycoon had invited Mr.Oswal,a business tycoon to his home for dinner . He welcomed Mr.Oswal with all his pleasure and directed him to the dining table and asked his servant to serve the food to him . They had general and casual talks until Siddhant questioned him about the recent allegation about Ronit ,Mr.Oswal’s one and only son . Recently there was a allegation that Ronit had drunk and drove his car and ran over a girl who was driving a two wheeler . But Mr. oswal had claimed those as false accusation led by his rivals and said that it was the driver who drove the car that day whereas his son was with him that time . 

Hearing his question oswal tried to change the topic but Siddhant wasn’t ready to leave that topic .he continued to shoot out his questions to him . 

“ are you sure that it was your driver who drove the car that day ?! “ 

“ was your son really with you that moment when the accident took place ? 

.... because I have already heard about him a lot recently, was he the one who was recently involved in some drug case which has been closed suddenly due to the influence of some high profile people”

getting fed up with his questions , Mr.Oswal rose up from his seat ..and said that he is leaving . 

Siddhant : sorry Mr.Oswal .. right now you are in my den . Without my wish you can’t even move an inch from here .. so just sit .

Oswal : Excuse me ? 

Siddhant (louder ): I said just sit ..

His shout was enough to send shiver into Oswal’s spine . 

Siddhant : now just tell me the truth .. who drove the car that day ? 

Oswal : look s-Siddhant you can’t force me like this !! 

Siddhant : I am waiting for the answer Mr.Oswal .

Oswal : Siddhant .. 

Siddhant rose up from his seat and took out his metallic silver loaded gun and pointed it on Mr.Oswal’s forehead and demanded the answer . 

Seeing his death in front of him , Mr. Oswal started to sweat profusely and fear was evident in his face .

Siddhant(smirks): It wouldn’t take a second to pull the trigger , so if you want your life ....then spill the beans ....

Mr.Oswal revealed that it was indeed Ronit who drove the car that day And caused the accident . 

Siddhant : was he drunk that time ? 

Mr.Oswal nodded his head . 

Siddhant asked Mr.Oswal to call Ronit to Bhardwaj mansion now . Oswal denied to do so but Siddhant had many other ways to bring Ronit there . He ordered few of men to bring Ronit there telling him that his dear father Mr.Oswal fell sick all of a sudden . Oswal tried to contact Ronit but Siddhant snatched his phone and kept it in his custody . 

As expected Ronit came there , but he got confused seeing his father fit and fine .. Siddhant made them sit and informed Ronit that he knew that it was him who drove the car in drunken condition and caused the accident due to which the girl is struggling between life and death now . 

Ronit started sweating profusely hearing that . Siddhant smiled and said that he need just 10crores in exchange to keep his mouth shut . This sentence brought a relief in both the father and son duo’s face and Mr.Oswal signed few cheque’s and gave it to sid . Then Siddhant took a bottle of champagne and announced that “ this calls for a party “  he poured the drink and gave to it Mr.Oswal for the toast.. he cheered and gave it to his son Ronit and Siddhant , Mr.Oswal refrained from drinking due to his health concerns .. sid kept his glass of champagne aside and was watching Ronit gulping the champagne.. 

After few mins , Ronit collapsed to the ground shocking Mr.Oswal whereas Siddhant smirked seeing it . Oswal got panicked seeing his son’s condition.. he called Siddhant for help . But hearing no reply from him , Oswal turned and saw sid smiling . 

Oswal grabbed sid’s collar and asked him what did he do to his son . Sid slowly removed Oswal’s hand from his shirt and replied ,” what did I do ? You only served your son a glass of champagne with t**********n “ 

Oswal :  t**********n?! 

Siddhant : it is a neurotoxin ..it just blocks.... wait ....i have time to explain you about this .. you also have time to listen but your son doesn’t have that much time to live Mr. Oswal. You have just 60 mins to save your son. So run mr.oswal , save your son . 

Oswal (shouts ) : Siddhant !! 

Siddhant : look Mr.Oswal , There is no known antidote for this t**********n . Only treatment is respiratory support and supportive care until the   t**********n is excreted from the body . Activated charcoal and/or gastric lavage can be done if you reach the hospital within 60mins of ingestion ..And From here the nearest hospital is just 40 mins away but if you get stuck in traffic ? Then .. within 50-55mins you will reach the hospital .. hmmm there are chances for your son to survive .. ( he glances at his watch ) .. oops 4mins already went ..so hurry up mr.oswal ..

Mr.Oswal hurried up Ronit to the hospital .... and reached the hospital on time . 

Siddhant came there to see Mr.Oswal who was walking here and there in tension . 

Siddhant ( smirks ): relax mr.Oswal , your son will be fine in a week . And yeah .. take this 10crores ( it was the same cheque’s which Oswal gave to sid ) as a compensation and it will also be helpful for your son’s treatment expenses. 

He throws the cheque’s on his face .. 

Siddhant  : this is how you threw that blank  cheque on that girl’s parents face whom your drunken son knocked out with his car right ? And yeah this is how it feels when your loved ones are battling between life and death .. and remember nothing can compensate it not even your money . 

Oswal : why are you doing this ? 

Siddhant (shouts ): because that girl whom your son knocked down that day was my love .. my Roli .. you know how much it pained for me to see her like that lying unconscious for hours . And you tried to shut the mouth of her parents by throwing money . And when it didn’t work out ? You changed the whole story .. what kind of father you are ? It is your responsibility to correct your son when he goes in wrong path but you encouraged him .... that’s why I wanted show you how it feels to be in the shoes of victim and your son should know how is it to battle between life and death .. this is a small lesson for both of you . 

You know what .. today was supposed to be my and roli’s marriage .. we were supposed hear happy married life wishes instead of these condolences....  now you have two options infront of you - 1) correct your mistake 2) continue the same.. choose one wisely and yeah this is a small gift ( a card )from my side to your son Ronit .. give it to him when he recovers .. 

Siddhant leaves from there ... he goes back to BW mansion and gets decked up in a royal blue suit with a royal blue metallic wristwatch  and goes to the city hospital with bunches of roses . 

He goesup to the ward to see his lady love who have been admitted there . His heart clenched seeing his love - roli lying like a lifeless person in between all those wires which were attached to her . In that accident she stained a traumatic brain injury and slipped into coma .it’s been a week , still there was no improvement in her condition.. 

He keeps the bouquet aside and sat next to her and held her hand ..

Siddhant : roli , you remember....It was supposed to be our  wedding day today .. look I am perfectly ready for it .. but you are lying here irresponsibly ..  ( he wipes the tears which were at the verge of falling down ) .. but no worries... I will wait .. but please don’t make me wait for long just because you know that I will wait .... I love you na yaar .. 

He remembers all the moment they have spent together..

Siddhant : get well soon na yaar .. 

Otherside , Mr.Oswal opens the card which Siddhant gave it to him to pass in on to Ronit 

“ DONT DRINK AND DRIVE  ....who knows it might save you from your death or you becoming a murderer... life have given you a chance .. use it wisely .  “
