Zendaya Opens Up About Heatstroke Scare While Filming Dune: Part Two in Jordan

Zendaya recently shared a harrowing experience of suffering from heatstroke while filming Dune: Part Two at a remote desert location in Jordan. In an interview with W Magazine, the actress recounted the challenges of working in the extreme heat and how the distant bathroom facilities influenced her decision to limit water intake, ultimately leading to a health scare.

"It was very hot, and I remember thinking, 'Oh, man, the bathrooms are so far away,' because we had to hike to the locations. If you have to pee, you need at least 10 minutes to get out of the costumes," she recalled.

The logistics of filming in such a remote and arid environment presented unique difficulties. The cumbersome costumes required significant effort to remove, making bathroom trips a time-consuming ordeal. This led Zendaya to minimize her water consumption. "I was like, d***, I don't want to drink too much water. I had such a fear of peeing myself or s******g myself, honestly, in the suit on set," she admitted.

However, this decision had serious consequences. "One day, I didn't drink enough and I had a heatstroke. I felt so barfy. I remember calling my mom on the bathroom floor, saying, 'I feel terrible.' She was like, 'Did you drink water today?' I said no. I thought I was being smart, but you can't do that. So, lesson learned," she said.

Zendaya’s portrayal of Chani has been a highlight of both Dune films. She has already expressed interest in continuing the franchise with a third installment, which will be based on Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah novel. The franchise’s success has also led to the creation of the prequel series Dune: Prophecy, which recently made its debut.

The experience has left a lasting impression on Zendaya, underscoring the physical demands of such an ambitious production.
