When TV channels refuse break, Ekta's soaps take leaps

Film producer and TV czarina Ekta Kapoor says TV channels' refusal to give a few months break to shows forces her to incorporate leaps in her shows.
"If channels tell me today that we don't want a leap and we'll give you a three-month break and you start from where you leave the story, I will not do a leap," the 37-year-old said here Thursday at the press conference of her TV show "Parichay".
Ekta insists that in the absence of a break, a leap is the only way out to bring freshness in serials.
"Whenever you make a show, you deal with daily issues on an episodic basis and after some time it stagnates. Abroad, you get a seasonal break so you can come back with freshness. To bring freshness, sometimes you need to show a different aspect of the story and for that you do a leap. It's as simple as that," said Ekta.
"Parichay" has taken a leap of 10 years and features Sameer Soni as Kunal Chopra and and Keerti Nagpure as his wife Siddhi. After the leap they will be seen raising their twins, separated at birth, at two different places.

ekta tumhe 100 saal dena par bhi tum wahi ghisi-piti story batao gi..lolwhy only your shows need a leap i don't know???You always take up new concept but within few days your show bounces back to old tracks,you cannot sustain a new concept.

Leap are only gonna kill a nice show.. Its better to end a show than it taking a leap.. Why not a show come back with a season 2? people r gonna love it.. Ekta did try with KMH-2.. Why not other shows:(

As i think ... parichay not required post leap at that time .. there was various track which can be shown like kunal n siddhi's profession life... kunal become rich... n dnt like that richa is with kunal after leap..at least if sidhi n kunal supposed to be separated ..at they can show richa out of the picture...

I support Ekta-its the system here which kills the shows!!!Take any hollywood soap they always runs on a season system & stays on air for not more than 3/4 months & comes back with another season after a small break...Its keeps the audience glued & excited to watch their favorite show again...But when you watch a single show continuously for years it starts to drag & sooner or later you have to take leaps to bring some freshness & new tracks to entertain viewers...LOGICAL

Ekta ur lame reasons for incorporating leaps is not gonna convince us!! Its dearth of creativity!! Leap and all can be taken for shows that are atleast 2 yrs old, not for shows which are less than a year old!! Hire good CVs!!

Ekta we agree with u tht fr the freshness in the show u tk leap & i tell u one thing tht I am luving the show post leap due to SINAL & thier twins. We want SINAL & thier twins together, focused & in central stage. No ritcha. If ritcha remains in the show fr long tym then this leap will also nt work in Parichay.

Is EK saying that she needs 3 months break rethink her old stories?Ther eis nothing fresh in the leaps that are forced into her shows.It's jail, separation and reunion, can't we have a proper progression of story and development of characters in shows?Just think lady, don't shift the blame on to the channels, they are just dishing out the crap that is created by producers like you.

I think leap was not required in Parichay at this time atleast. Richa was in jail and you could have shown her there. Meanwhile Rohit would have tried something. In parallel, you could have shown us Kunal's professional track... Leap could have come after that!!!! Everything after confession moved too fast!!!
