Vaibhavi Hankare recently joined Star Plus' Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin as Tejaswini following the introduction of the show's fourth season. Tejaswini, also known as Teju, hails from Amravati and lives with her parents and younger brother. A passionate music lover, she is pursuing her studies in music and finds herself falling for her favourite singer, Rituraj.

Vaibhavi has been portraying Teju's character exceptionally well, bringing to life her journey as a determined singer. Her performance is so convincing that at times, it becomes difficult to tell whether Vaibhavi is lip-syncing or actually singing.
Throughout the show, Teju has had several singing sequences, including a memorable moment when Rituraj invited her to share the stage, a performance at Trimbakeshwar, and a heartfelt song she sang to convince her father.

Curious to know whether Vaibhavi has sung any of the songs herself or how she prepares for such musical scenes, we reached out to her. In an exclusive conversation with India Forums, the Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin actress, clarifying that she hasn’t sung any of the songs yet, shares insights into her preparation process for these sequences.

The goal is to make sure that when the audience watches, they don't just see me lip-syncing—they see a character truly feeling and expressing the song.

How challenging is it to perform a singing sequence, especially when the voice is not yours, and how do you prepare for it?

Performing a singing sequence when the voice isn't mine is definitely challenging and exciting. We get the song 10-15 minutes before performing it. We have to learn the lyrics word to word. It's not just about lip-syncing, it's about embodying the emotion, breath control, and energy of the voice so it feels completely natural to the audience.

I break it down by studying the song's rhythm, pauses, emotional highs and lows and expressions closely. It's all about syncing my emotions with the voice so the audience believes it's truly mine.

Sometimes, I even sing along quietly during rehearsals to internalize the flow. Ultimately, the goal is to make sure that when the audience watches, they don't just see me lip-syncing—they see a character truly feeling and expressing the song.

For the unversed, the story revolves around three key characters—Teju, a dedicated music student aspiring to build a career in singing; Rituraj, a renowned singer; and Neil, a doctor who gave up singing due to his parents' wishes. Before the passionate singer Teju could take her relationship with Rituraj forward or pursue a career in music, her father's sudden death turns her life upside down. What was once a peaceful journey is now filled with unexpected challenges. While Teju and Rituraj share a deep love for each other, circumstances take an unexpected turn, eventually leading Teju to marry Neil to fulfil her late father's wish.
