With the crowning of Indian Idol 3, it's time for the Idol fans to look forward to yet another singing sensation – The first ever-Asian Idol! In keeping with the immensely successful and popular version of the blockbuster 'Pop Idol' format, one Idol winner from each of the 6 countries (India, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam) will compete for the title of the Asian Idol. The mega event is going to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
"It is a matter of great pride that I have got an opportunity to represent my country on the international platform. I am looking forward to this contest, as it will be a challenge to prove my mettle internationally. I am sure this will be a complete learning experience", says Abhijeet Sawant, Indian Idol season one winner.

December 14th, 7.00 pm: - Road to The Final is about the behind –the- scene stories of the 6 Idols before they perform in the Asian Idol finale. This episode also establishes the Asian Idol competition in the viewers' mind and showcases the 6 contestants from each of the country, their journey as idol winner, in their own country, life after winning, and their expectations at Asian idol.
December 15th , 7.00 pm: Asian Idol Performance Show - All finalists will be judged over 2 performances – a ballad and an up-beat song that the country has chosen for them. A short VT film will introduce each performance and the show will also feature special clips. Each contestant will sing one song in English and one song in their native language. Viewers will be voting on the overall performance of each Idol, rather than on individual songs, and hence the voting lines will not be open until the end of the show.
December 16th , 11.00 p.m – Asian Idol—Result Show- It's the judgment hour of the biggest talent show in Asia. The show will be revealing the final result from millions of vote across 6 nations. It will be an international celebration.
Asian Idol gives its viewers a chance to vote for their favourite Asian Idol. The voting pattern will involve viewers from each country to vote for two of their favourite contestants and based on these votes Asia will see its new Asian Idol. The voting lines will open on December 15 where viewers will be voting on the overall performance of each Idol, rather than on individual songs. Thus, the voting lines will open only by the end of the show. Viewers will be asked to place two votes for the two Idols they think performed best.
The viewers can catch all the excitement and action on Sony Entertainment Television on December 14 and December 15 from 7.00 pm onwards. The results of the contest will be declared on December 16 at 11.00 pm, which will be a live event from Jakarta.
The evening will have performances from select International singers including our very own Alisha Chinai. The evening will be a treat to all music lovers as all the six finalists come together with the special invitees and perform on the theme of 'united by music.'
