Vivian Dsena: Budgets must have been reduced for projects, but we should be grateful that we have work

Actor Vivian Dsena is to be back on the small screen. He confesses that TV follows a pattern and actors usually end up repeating characters, but he, on the other hand, likes to take risks. "Unless the character doesn't stand out, it doesn't work for me. I don't want to cheat my audience by repeating myself, which is why I don't do too many shows." Dsena says.

He quit his last show, Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas in August 2019. Later due to the pandemic, he didn't take up any work. Despite the fact that he missed shooting for two and half years, he is glad he waited. "Humans have the tendency to complain about everything in life. We should be grateful for all that we have. I relaxed in the initial six months after Shakti. And after playing a role for over three years, I had a lot of unlearning to be able to play something new. Then, the pandemic hit." he explains

A number of actors had accepted pay cuts owing to the pandemic. Mention that to him and Dsena replies. "Losses were faced by the world during the pandemic. Budgets must have been reduced for projects, but I believe that right now, we should be grateful that we have work. Remember, there was a time when we were able to get out of our house only to get essentials. Moreover, so many people out there are still unemployed. It is the case in every country and with the pandemic, things will take time to recover."

Glad that things are coming back to normalcy, the actor shares, "Daily soap is a staple diet for Indian audiences. For us, too, this is a job that gives us work satisfaction that we have done a good job. Shows are substantial and often run for a year or at least six months, so the feeling of being normal and going to work feels quite good."
