Vivek Dahiya reveals how anxiety over his liquor collection got him hooked to alcohol during lockdown

As Indian Government tells people to guard against a new wave of COVID pandemic, we are yet to get over the mental and physical trauma caused by the first lockdown. Actor Vivek Dahiya narrated how the lockdown subconsciously got him addicted to liquor in a candid podcast with Shardul Pandit. He said that while Divyanka Tripathi and he are not regular drinkers, they do have a well-stocked bar at home. He said that his father had told him that whenever he would make his own home, he should have a good bar. The couple travel extensively all the world, and began to collect liquor. He told Shardul Pandit, “We used to collect limited edition bottles or other stuff. Karte karte bar accha ban gaya but we never engaged.”

With the pandemic claiming so many lives even those of healthy fit people, Vivek Dahiya wondered what would happen to the bottles if something happened to him. He said every night he would pour himself a drink and watch OTT content. While he did not exceed any limit or indulge in bad behaviour, it soon became a habit.

When I started doing it regularly, my lifestyle went for a toss, and it disrupted a lot of things like sleep, and metabolism. The next day, I was not able to work out and exercising is my life; I can't live without it.

Vivek Dahiya is a fitness freak and the fact that he did not get energy to workout disrupt his mental peace. He said he took a couple of therapy sessions to get out of that space. His exercises including spending time in solitude, meditation and doing breathing exercises. He also worked hard to improve his concentration and focus.

Vivek Dahiya’s latest project was Hasratein with Gulki Joshi on Hungama. The actor is happily wedded to Divyanka Tripathi since 2016.
