MX Player which has enthralled the audience with it's large variety of content over the years is back with yet another interesting series titled Pati Patni Aur Woh. This 10 episodic MX Original Series is an entertaining story of a husband whose wife has passed away, but the catch is that her soul is stuck in this world. Her ultimate wish is to see her husband re-married, but plans go awry when he actually happens to find ‘the one’.

Directed by Nisheeth Neerav Neelkanth, the series stars Anant Vidhaat, Vinny Arora and Riya Sen in the lead roles. We at India Forums got in touch with Vinny Arora who opened up on her character in the series, her favourite scene, preparations, challenges faced and much more.

1. First of all tell us something about your character in the series?

Let me begin by saying that my character is very unlike who I am in real life. It is that of a typical housewife who is also the loving, possessive and jealous type. But it was fun. The best part of my character is that it basically gave me a chance to play everything, it has the emotions, the comedy, the feeling of jealousy, anger and all of that. So it's a good mix of everything.

2. Since this character is quite different from the previous roles that you've played, did you undergo any special preparations for it?

We had certain reading sessions. Once you get on set and once you get on the feel of it along with the saree and the look, then as an actor, you get that sort of drive. When you stand in the entire setup of the typical household in Mathura, then that is a different type of push and I think that helped a lot, the ambience, my director and a couple of reading sessions. But mostly, being there present in the typical surrounding was very very helpful.

3. What compelled you to take up this project?

When you hear the name 'Pati Patni aur Woh', you picture it to be a typical third woman kind of a story and the fact that it is not that. I loved to take it up because it wasn't a cliche story. Also, because I have never stepped into the web space before, so it was very new for me. I have never done a web series on any OTT platform, so I was excited to do something in this medium.

4. How was the entire experience working with the team and cast?

It was fab. We were there for like 20-25 days in Mathura with the same people. I have found a wonderful friend in Riya and we're still in touch. We celebrated that new year together because we shot in December, so we were very good friends infact. Me, Anant, Saksham and Riya, the four of us became very good friends. We would hangout together, have dinner together, talk it out, so it was very good. The shooting was very smooth with the cast and the crew and my director was so nice. We didn't even realise how the shoot got over, it was a happy experience.

5. Do you recall any favourite moment or any special moment from sets?

We were shooting nice scenes, emotional scenes but can I say that eating in Mathura was my favorite moment? (Laughs). Food kind of binds you. Riya and I would suddenly be like, our mood is not good today, so shall we go and get some 'chaat'?. My director, would see that I am low on energy then he would call for something. So I think food kept us all connected and it kept us all going. We bonded over food alot.

6. What is your most favourite scene from the entire series?

There is one scene that I did with Anant, it was an emotional scene on the terrace of our house where I tell him that all this jealousy is actually my problem and it has nothing to do with you. I also tell him that, 'you know, I understand what you're feeling but I can't help it, I love you and if I'm jealous then I am jealous.'

That scene is one of my favorite because isn't that how we all are? You love somebody and you know that it's not nice to be jealous and you know that it's wrong. But because you love someone so much that you are jealous and you just can't help it. So it came out really well and the fact that Anant and I are very good friends, it works for us and hopefully it will translate also on screen. So that was one of my favourite scenes to do and to watch.

7. Lastly, what was the most challenging part about shooting this series?

Taking up a new character like this, it is so opposite of who I am that it initially took me 1-2 days because I didn't know if I was doing something over the top. I wanted to be subtle because it's a web series and everybody has this mindset of subtle acting and all but my character is such, that you got to be slightly dramatic. So I think that was challenging for me because I have never done something like that and that's not who I am as a person. But once I got the hang of it, then everything was happy and cool.
