The versatile actress Vidya Balan is all set to impress the audience with yet another powerful performance in the much-awaited film ‘Sherni.’ The trailer released a few days ago, wherein she plays an upright Forest officer named ‘Vidya Vincent.’

During the rounds of promotions, Vidya revealed to DNA that she has been gaslighted by people. While she admits that before she did not even know the meaning of the word but now she is aware. She said:

"Of course, I've been gaslighted by people. I think when I trust someone, or I guess when anyone trusts anyone, it becomes difficult to see when they're being gaslit. It has happened to me. I didn't even know what gaslighting was until a few years ago. And now that I know it, I'm well aware. When I feel that someone's gaslighting me, then I just avoid that person because you can't get manipulative people to change."

In Sherni, Vidya powers through the brutal beasts of social barrier set by the patriarchal society and the lackadaisical attitudes within her department.

The trailer showcases Vidya’s incredible journey, set in the world full of quirky yet relatable characters, as she navigates through her marriage with her rather unusual job, all this while trying to resolve the man-animal conflict.

In the interview, Vidya reveals that just like the film, she has been told to look a certain way in real life as well. She said:

"Of course. I think everyone knows that about me in my career, everyone's had an opinion on what I should wear, what I should weigh, and all of that, and it's damn annoying. And it used to bother me before, but it stopped bothering me. And when it stopped bothering me, people stopped talking."

She jokingly added: "But I have to say my mother's not given up on saying wear some jewellery.”

‘ Sherni’ also stars a powerful ensemble cast comprising of versatile artists such as Sharat Saxena, Mukul Chadda, Vijay Raaz, Ila Arun, Brijendra Kala and Neeraj Kabi. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra and Amit Masurkar, Sherni will stream on Amazon Prime Video from 18th June 2021.
