Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike was the first blockbuster of 2019 and managed to attain an extensive collection of Rs 245.36 crore at the box office. The film also turned to be a game changer for the 31 year old actor, who received appreciation and recognition for his performance as Major Vihaan Singh Shergill in the film. And of course, the tagline of the film ‘How’s The Josh’ became world famous after the film’s release. 

The film is based on the surgical strike on terror groups in Pakistan conducted after the 2016 terror attack at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. And now six months after its release, the makers are re-releasing the film on July 26, 2019 on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. This is going to be a great gift for all Vicky’s fans who can relish watching him again on the screens. 

Confirming the news, producer of the film, Ronnie Screwvala told Mumbai Mirror, “The idea of making the film was to instil a sense of pride in the hearts of every Indian and to highlight the incredible service of the armed forces for our nation. I’m honoured to be a part of this initiative wherein Uri will be showcased across 500 theatres in the state on Kargil Vijay Diwas.”

Director Aditya Dhar also expressed his views on the same news and stated, “The greatest validation for any filmmaker is to know that he has inspired youngsters to think about the valour and sacrifice of our brave soldiers and instil these very emotions in them. It’s a wonderful initiative by our Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and I’m glad people will get to see the film for free this time.” 

On the work front, Vicky will essay the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the biopic titled, Sam, directed by Meghna Gulzar.
