Vicky Kaushal's latest outing, 'The Great Indian Family, seems to be facing a lukewarm response at the box office during its opening weekend. The film, which also stars Manushi Chhillar, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Alka Amin, hit theaters on September 22 but has failed to create a significant buzz.

According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk.com, 'The Great Indian Family' collected approximately Rs 2 crore nett on its third day in theaters. This comes after an opening day collection of Rs 1.4 crore nett, followed by Rs 1.72 crore on Saturday, representing a modest increase of 22.86%. However, the film experienced a decline on Sunday, managing to collect ₹2 crore. So far, the film's total box office earnings in India stand at Rs 5.12 crore nett.

The family drama, directed and written by Vijay Krishna Acharya, known centers around Vicky Kaushal's character, Bhajan Kumar, who grapples with an identity crisis when a letter claims he was born a Muslim. Despite its thought-provoking premise, the film's performance at the box office falls short of expectations.

In a pre-release interview, Vicky Kaushal described 'The Great Indian Family' as a celebration of Indian family values and diversity. He emphasized that the film aims to entertain and uplift audiences without coming across as preachy. The movie intends to make viewers laugh and instill a sense of pride in being part of the Indian family and culture.

For Vicky Kaushal, 'The Great Indian Family' marks his second family-oriented project of the year after 'Zara Hatke Zara Bachke', where he shared the screen with Sara Ali Khan.

As 'The Great Indian Family' continues its theatrical run, it remains to be seen if the film can pick up momentum and resonate with a broader audience, allowing it to achieve a more substantial box office success.
