Vicky Kaushal to Konkona Sen Sharma, best OTT performers of 2021
The web space has been an absolute gem this year, all over again, and so, we decided to list out some of the finest performances of 2021.
Not enough can be spoken about all the good content that has come our way in this past year through the OTT space. Be it films that went for an OTT release or original shows that won our hearts, there is a huge list of both shows and films as well as the performances that came alive on the web.
Though we have found some really great great shows and performers this year that would've made it to the list, we picked out our top 7 after a lot of thought and carefully looking at who did what. Here's who made it to the cut.
Sidharth in Shershaah was a revelation and proof of things he can do if he is given a chance to do so. The story is crucial and the subject too, is close to everyone's hearts, but his acting chops? Well, they truly make it to the cut to the best performances and well, we can't get enough of it as we await his next release.
Another subject that is rather memorable, but not for the right reasons, is the incident of 26/11 in Mumbai. The lives lost and the entire ruckus created, continues to send many nightmares, especially those who dealt with it on ground. And this show, Mumbai Diaries 26/11 on Amazon Prime Video, narrated the story of what went by at the hospitals, and Konkana played a beautiful character. Apart from that, another performance of hers that won hearts is Ajeeb Daastaans on Netflix, an episodic, where she plays a factory worker, who happens to fall in love with someone from an entirely different background. How that goes through and her performances, win hearts.
Sunny captured everyone's attention with a brilliant and rather understated performance as Sandeep Bhaiya in Aspirants and one cannot get enough of what he has done with the show. An iconic character in itself, he continues to receive applause for what he did to date, and well, another season would sure make for a must watch!
Not enough can be said about his performance in Sardar Udham Singh, a movie once again, significant not just because of the person but also because of the tale it narrates, and not only does it capture those moments beautifully making you feel things, Vicky too, outshines and has outperformed himself.
Pankaj has had a bunch of performances in the past two years that have made him the go to person for the best of best roles. This year, he did Mimi, and Kaagaz, both absoltuely different stories and the fact that he managed to pull them off with equal grace is why he made it to the list.
Balan is an actor who can never disappoint. Vidya did manage to pull off yet another amazing amazing performance as she played a forest officer in this one. A beautifully written character, everything about this performance was a master class in acting, including a few shades of Vidya that we see, and more importantly, the true and realer side of a woman that we see.
A personal favourite from the anthology that Ajeeb Daastaans was, Manav played a man with only so many emotions as one can process at a time. He got into the skin of the mute and deaf rather effortlessly and without saying anything, you fall in love with him and how!
That's a wrap for us! While these are in no particular order, a bunch of other performances that also deserve a mention include the likes of Sanya Malhotra, Taapsee Pannu, R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Manoj Bajpayee, and so so so many others. However, something about the above mentioned stood out a tad bit more, and in a fresher way, and hence, they made it to the cut!
