Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer ‘Coolie No. 1’ Postponed over Coronavirus Scare?

Ever since the news of a remake of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor’s 1995 comedy classic Coolie No. 1 was out, it made headlines. Fans were excited to see the new version of this cult classic. To add a cherry on the top, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan have been roped in as the leading pair in the remake.

While this is the first time Varun and Sara will be sharing screen space together, their fans were excited to witness their chemistry. However, fans will have to wait a bit longer as reportedly, the film may be pushed further.

As per a Mumbai Mirror report, the release of Coolie No.1 may be pushed further from its original date May 1 to somewhere in June or July. Owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the film may be postponed, and the final call will only be taken once the current crisis gets under control.

A source was quoted saying, “The call will be taken only after the situation gets back to normal. But it is definitely not arriving on May 1 now. Maybe June, July or even later, depending on when the scare subsides.”

The team of Coolie No.1 also rescheduled their trailer release due to the Coronavirus outburst in the nation. The entire country is facing a lockdown, and even the film industry is stalled.

Many other big banner movies have already postponed their film’s release. Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif was initially slated to release on 24th March, but the release has now been pushed further. Kabir Khan sports drama ’83 starring Ranveer Singh has also ditched their original release date.

“The producers of all the big films will come together to chalk out a release calendar for the second half of 2020”, informs the source.

Speaking of Coolie No.1, Varun will be giving an ode to his favourite Mithun Chakraborty in the film. "Varun is a die-hard Mithun Chakraborty fan. He will be seen mimicking the senior actor’s speech and his mannerisms and pelvic movements” adds the report.
