Recent rumors suggested that Urvashi Rautela’s scenes had been removed from the OTT version of Daaku Maharaaj. However, fresh reports confirm that her sequences remain untouched in the film’s digital release. Over the past few days, social media was buzzing with claims that Rautela’s portions were cut from the streaming version.
According to India Today, these speculations are baseless. A reliable industry insider clarified that the OTT platform has streamed the film’s theatrical cut without any edits. The source also hinted that the rumors were possibly spread as a publicity stunt by an actress involved in the movie. It was suggested that a female co-star from the film may have fueled these claims to gain attention.
Directed by KS Ravindra, Daaku Maharaaj stars Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role. The film, after a successful theatrical run, is set to premiere on Netflix on February 21. Officials have confirmed that the streaming version is identical to what was shown in cinemas. So far, neither the OTT platform nor Urvashi Rautela has released an official statement regarding this controversy.
The streaming platform recently shared official posters of the film, prominently featuring Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, and Shraddha Srinath alongside Balakrishna. However, Rautela’s presence in these promotions was noticeably minimal. In response to growing criticism, the OTT platform later released additional character posters, twice featuring Rautela to reassure audiences of her involvement.
Although Rautela appears in the movie’s trailer on the platform’s official YouTube channel, her name is missing from the ‘about’ section of Daaku Maharaaj. The actress had been actively promoting the film before controversy arose due to her insensitive remarks about actor Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing incident.
Despite the social media uproar, Daaku Maharaaj has been a massive success. Since its theatrical release on January 12, the film has grossed over ?156 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of the year.
