Udit Narayan is facing new legal troubles as his first wife, Ranjana Jha, has filed a maintenance case against him, claiming he has violated her rights and taken her property. The controversy follows a viral incident involving Udit that has drawn significant public attention. On February 21, he attended a hearing at the Supaul Family Court but has remained firm in refusing any settlement.
According to Navbharat Times, Udit has accused Ranjana of attempting to extort money from him. Previously, a case was filed with the Bihar Women’s Commission, which was settled at that time.
Reports indicate that Udit had been financially supporting Ranjana, initially providing her with Rs 15,000 a month, which he increased to Rs 25,000 in 2021. He also gave her farmland and a house valued at Rs 1 crore. The Bihar Women’s Commission found that he had gifted her jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh, along with land that she later sold.
Ranjana, through her lawyer, expressed her desire to be with Udit as she ages and her health declines, wishing to spend her life with him. After the hearing, she told the media that she feels ignored by Udit and accused him of keeping Rs 18 lakh from the sale of their land. She also claimed that she faces threats and intimidation whenever she visits Mumbai, making her feel unsafe.
Udit and Ranjana married in 1984, but as his career flourished, their relationship suffered. Ranjana stated that he gradually distanced himself and stopped acknowledging their marriage, leaving her feeling abandoned. In search of security, she approached the Women’s Commission in 2006.
