As the tri-colors national flag unfurls at Rajpath, it's the duty of the citizens to salute and respect it since we are celebrating our 65^th Republic Day. This is the day to watch the honorable and dignified heroes of our nation getting awarded by our honorable President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee.

Deepika Singh aka Sandhya in Diya Aur Baati Hum

"I have some very fond memories of Republic Day celebrations as a child. We would run to our terrace to watch the helicopters with tri-color balloons as soon as we get hint that the parade is over.

Today, I consider myself really fortunate to get this opportunity to spread the message of the day through my show Diya Aur Baati Hum. As Sandhya I'm gearing up to serve the nation as an IPS officer. To get into the skin of the character, I'm undergoing a rigorous training and can totally connect with the hardships of patrons in defense & police services. I'm sure all Indians especially the women of India will get our message and be encouraged to be more educated and independent like Sandhya. I wish all the viewers of Star Plus & Diya Aur Baati Hum a Happy Republic Day.
